Hello guys, as i sure can been seen from the title im working on a looted dreadknight, when i originally saw this model it was pretty much my first reaction to do, so i am pretty pleased to be doing it. The idea is to use it as a deff dread once done, but im not too concerened about it not having the full complement of weapons, my main initial question is, is it orky enough? At the moment im pretty happy about the top half, arm swinging whilst blasting with a 'scorcher' but do the legs strike anyone as a bit tau?

The rider can be seen at the base of the one of the photos, he is basically going to be absolutely strapped into with straps, cables, rope, any thing to hand really, with his hands mirroring that of the machine, but el legs dont replicate that. Thoughts?

Additional- I have made the other gun up, just for the heck of it, was thinking about having it slug over the shoulder, but then rested it on the top, and i have to admit it looked pretty hot, ill load a photo later, i just want to control how much is placed on this guy, as, while he is a ork, there has to be a limit to ammount of stuff so as to not swamp the model!

All comments, yes even cuss', welcome.

I'd agree, you have a good conversion going on there, it just need a big pile of gubbinz over it. Pointless pipes, extra plates of irregular armour, glyphs and slogans it's all good.

Exhaust is far to orderly.

I don't like the hydrolic ram in the models lower leg. It looks really awkward. I'd be tempted to snip them off. The feet need claws and the lower legs some plating.

Looks like a really good start, tempting me to buy one for my Waaagh.

Poor orks... Why can't they be the good guys for once?
All they've ever really wanted is whatever you have...

It's a pretty orky pose but like the other guys said, need more scrap and gubbinz. Plates of scrap and spikes just bolted on haphazardly.

Looks good so far - keep on sluggin

Replace hammer with...something. Grey Knight on a chain, or something.
Also, add more gubbins.

I'm sorry but it doesn't look orky at all to me.
Think about adding plates, glyphes and pipes to it.
Change the weapons to something orky too.

Well, thats some pretty conclusive comments there! Cool, well i think i need to plate up and get sorted. The basic theme with my army is that they are the orks that are fighting the crimsons fists on rynns world (i appreciate there are no grey knights but this had to happen!) and so all their parts are from space marine (most speciafially crimson fist) vehicles. Everything is then lashed together by a particalluy enthusiastic mech who just bolts stuff on to stuff.

I guess i sort of have answered my own question with the above statement there, but i shall keep it up here for any suggestions.

HEre is a pic as well of it with the side gun place on top, it fits surpsingly well, also with the dude just blu tacked on to give the feeling.

Thats the side gun from the same dreadknight model, i think its the psilencer, but i couldnt be sure. It fits on there a dream, even at the back the cable that should go to the arm goes into a back port. Feels like too much of a coincednce for it to not be intentional!

I agree with what's been said above. You've got a great start with the pose and gs ropes. Now get some plasticard armor and spikes, pipes, grots and you're golden

Thanks for all the suggestions, and ideas, a pretty much fore gone conclusion that mo Dakka is needed.

Started messing around with some plasticard the other night for plate armour, ill upload some images show how it looks.

and yes, the hammer is going, after being veto'd by pretty much everyone, an axe may be happening!

Also, hardwired into the machine ork is on the cards, cabels and things coming out of a a head into the machine, thoughts?

Dont take it wrong, it have potencial...

Nothing that someone have not said yet: Take de hammer out, if you like the hammer ideia, why not convert it into a Nemesis Doom Tank Hammer ^^. Take a really big missile, put it on the top of it and, BIG explosion on hit ^^

Other ideia, if you have patience, is taking out the hands... Normally ork humanoids machines (killa kans, deff dredds, gargants) dont have hands, instead, they have Klaw, chainsaws, crushing balls, or the "killest" thing the Big Mek could think about.

Ading some extra arms would make it looks great. And to complete my suggestions: "cybork" the pilot a little more, adding wires and fusioning the ork to the machine a little bit more...

Well, just my cents...

Post some pics soon...

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...

I think some kind of Kustom Choppa would be better than the hammer...otherwise, it looks pretty cool!

Ok, been a bit of a while since an update, thought id show how its getting on! As im sure you can all see the hammer went, and a rather tasty looking big power choppa is being constructed now, finally strapped the dude in, need to add a bit more webbing here and there. Plated up the legs severly, hopefully they can been seen well enough on the snaps, pretty happy with how they went (using a technique a mate did of 'strapping' them together).

Going to add a strip of bullets coming out of the LH gun a la matrix the 3rd dudes, as that will look pretty dope, but my issue now is the top looks a little empty? There have been suggestions of gretchin snotlings on the top, pretty normal stuff, just seeing if any one had any ideas as to what could go there. IT is pretty much el focal point now, doh.

needs a lot of battle damage, rusty bits and extra armour plates welded haphazardly onto the plain areas and the base is too small.
a good start.
you should also put a steel cage around the pilot, so it mirrors the yellow walking forklifter in aliens, which it is obviously based on.
get away from her you bitch....

how about nailing an enemy corpse to the empty area above the pilot? that is, if you have any.
the strapping looks ok, but i'd go for more, to make it look as though it was found in a junkyard and brought just enough back to life so it works, no polish, just dirty oil....
you should do a before and after picture when its painted, too. to remind us what gw did, and your version.
nice so far.

For the top I think a gargant looking ork face should be made on top. Or you could do some shoulder pad like plates over the gyro looking things on top (kinda like the runt bot from forgeworld). Also the hand that holds the axe is too Imperial looking, you need an ork hand or claw or something.

Blasto and wookie, genius. I was starting to wonder if id posted it right as no one had answered! But you two came in with some awesome comments. From these i defiantly liek the sound of-

-Second person to say change base, one more and ill do it!
-Steel cage a la aliens style (possibly made from a vehicle hull, or a sprue) 'there in the god damn ceiling'
- Gork head on top! Quite where or how i will source this is a completely different matter.

Cheers guys, photos soon!

Absolutely change the base. It looks way too small right now.
Plus you'll want the extra room for flocking the crap out of it.

A real cockpit (Steel Cage) would be an improvement. Maybe instead of a generic steel cage, you could make some Mega Armor Control Rig for the Ork to ride in. Honestly, all this combat mek B.S. from Matrix/Avatar/DreadKnight where the driver has absolutely NO protection from even small arms fire is just stupid. Give that Ork some protection.

Lastly, how about instead of a gork/mork head on top, you put together a parody of a GK heavily armored helm, but with an Ork gob instead of the visor the GK normally have?

Hows that for suggestions?

Agreed re: bigger base. The Ork hanging off the front is AWESOME. It still needs more, but I am not sure what. Maybe more GUNZ protruding out over the Nob's head? If it was me, I'd give it a banner, but that's me. Would it be cool to add Grot Riggerz? Hm.

I think that right now, one's eye is drawn to the Ork hanging off the front because it is the Orkiest thing about the model. But you want to draw some attention to your awesome Dread, too.

Okay, here's an idea. What about sharp spikes (20+) sticking out from the top of the dread, all lengths, with the 'eads of this Nob's enemies impaled upon them?

And, oh yea, also a giant flag that says, "WAAGGHHH!!!" (Okay, I just love flags).

Excellent but I agree with others who stated more of a cage/platform idea for the ork pilot. I think having him tied to the mech looks a bit less orky and much more child carrier. A makeshift platform with some glyphs bolted on may do it.

Still looks fantastic!

Definitely agree with some kind of scary giant metal orky head on top, to give the impression from a distance that it's a really big ork - what could be scarier to enemies?

If you're looking at redoing the cockpit as per other suggestions, I'd build it so the ork pilot is looking out the mouth of the giant metal orky head

Put the hammer back on, except cut the heads off the hammer and glue on a pair of space marine helmets in place.

ok, holy crap its been a while since i re posted this dude, it has been a bit busy..

Still very much work in progress, but thanks to your guys help, and my parter in crime jonkofis input, iv managed to progress the dude a bit further. I loved the idea of seeing him in the distance and thinking he was a bit ork, so i have tried to match as close as possible the proportions of the nob piloting it, no easy task. I think the legs still need a little bulking out to bring them up to scale and maybe a bit on the arms but all in all coming along well.

Alot of green stuff later its coming together, the axe is done, i just need a banner to attach to it(mo green stuff) then its good to go. And the base........ we'll see haha.

Any comments as ever welcome.
