In Prospero Burns, each Legion has a role, the Space Wolves are the Executioners, the Imperial Fists the defenders (IIRC) what are the others?

Iron Warriors: Siege warfare
Night Lords: Terror tactics
Raven Guard: Sneaky stuff

Salamanders : Being Hard, making weapons?
Blood Angels : Getting Angry
Ultramarines: Arriving late and stealing the glory ?

Ultramarines: To tattle on Lorgar and bring daddy to punish him.

I got the impression the Ultramarines where going to run the empires logistic side, Horus was the heir and Robert(sp?) would be like the prime minister or something.

Lorgar was his conscience IIRC, I can't remember any of the others that haven't been said yet.

I believe that the Lion and the DA represent the honor of the of the Emperor and imperium.

Or that could be the Ultramarines.
I think the EC would have been an important and leading legion in the Imperium if not for the Heresy.

Horus=the Emperor's ambition.

EC- Pride and Perfection(atempted)
LW/SOH- Ambition/Charisma
DA- Atention to detail, Paranoya and obsession
BA- pureness of spirit, dark undertones
NL- Forsight and dualality of character.
SW- We know this one
WE- Corrupted by implants, but maybe the big E's wish for freedom.

Death Guard - The Sturdy/'The moving rock' (metaphorically speaking this is, couldn't really figure out a description other then this )
Night Lords - The terrorizers
Raven Guard - The 'Spec ops'
Thousand Sons - The Keepers/Guardians
Ultramarines - The Diplomats/Tacticians
World Eaters - The Destructive
White Scars - The 'Lightning Strike' (Again metaphorical :p )

I like all except the Preachers for word bearers, the Emperor couldn't stand religion and preachers are a part of that, I have changed it above to be more accurate. Also, I added what the Iron Hands would be in my opinion.

World Eaters are probably the Emperors shock troops, when you think about it. What is scarier than being charged by heavily armed bloodthirsty maniacs?

Blood Angels were the paragons of the ideal pre-Heresy.

Jonson was a living computer, so the DA are just strategy engines.

No, that was most definitely the Emperor's Children. Even the Emperor decreed as much when he let them put the sign of the aquilla on the chest plate of their armor. They were the only legion Pre Heresy to be allowed that honor.

In The First Heretic I think thy listed some of the primarchs in terms of what aspect of the Enperor's personality they represented, I think Lorgar was conscience, Magnus was wisdom, Angron was anger (duh), I forget the others though.

Iron Hands don't receive mutations from the Chaos Gods. If an Iron Hand has an extra arm, its a Bionic one.

They do receive mutations, they just cut them off straight away and replace with bionics.

Well as for my acusation of the iron hands being emo, well if read up on them you will see that they cut off there right hand in initation and replace it with a bionic. Thats just screaming i hate my myself.

Not... at all, actually, they're just fringe members of the Cult of the Machine, it's a showing of respect to the Omnissiah.

If you look at the actions of the Dark Angels most of out is related to honor. The fallen are a disgrace to them and must be hunted to cleanse the dishonor that the fallen bring to them.

The DeathWing story is also about restoring honor of the chapter after the planet had fallen to the hand of a genestealer cult. Despite the correct action being to virus bomb the planet according to imperial doctrine.

Then there is also the honor dual that the Lion and Russ took part in that is reenacted by champions when the two forces meet.
