forget about them, according to the new rumours they are getting retconned.

They are necronified humans with the pariah gene. That gene was implanted in a part of the human race by the c'tan

Because the idea of picking random individuals from a civilization that you're at war with, giving them incredibly powerful weapons and making them trusted warriors is kinda silly.

But yeah. The idea of the Pariah gene is going nowhere.

The particular unit that is designated by the Imperial Guard and Adeptus Astartes as 'Pariahs' is going away though.

Good riddance.

And here I thought that Necron overall strength is silly

They could still use them, but making them somewhat much weaker than now. And they will not disappear - they will always be present in Dawn of War games

Pariahs=Cybermen. They're ripped apart and placed within a shell of metal, now eternally bound to do the bidding of the Star Gods.

But if Pariahs are being retconned and C'Tan are being rebelled against, then sure, forget about them

I'm tossing out an idea that I've come up with concerning the Pariah that I think they'll end up using as it will allow Pariah to still exist but not have considerable presence. To start, Pariah were created by the C'tan sowing the Pariah gene into humanity as a way to combat the warp with their individual soldiers. Pariah have been set up as the Necron Warriors V2.0, being a symbiont between human and possibly necrodermis, and ultimately the next phase of the C'tans' plan to rid the universe of its connection to the warp. however, in the new codex it seems that the C'tan are taking more of a backseat role, which would mean Pariah would also, as right now the only way that we've been told they can be made is by the Deceiver and possible certain Tombworlds, but that last is unconfirmed. My thought on the matter is that with the C'tan playing a lesser role, so to will their secret warp sealing plans involving the Pariah who, while no longer being field-able, continue to exist

when i heard pariah were being goten arid of i was like Pariahs are sooooo cool and very powerfull when used correctly but fluff wise this is my theory.

the c'tan made pariah as a v2 for the warrior well if they are getting arid of them(and i hope not) then wouldn't we just have to assume that all the necrons have been upgraded to v2 so the pariah arn't needed anymore.

but then again it could turn out that this is just a rumour and the pariah will stay(i hope they do)

I agree the pariahs were the only cool necrons besides the destroyers.

I'm with you i can't see why people don't like pariahs.

I think it's because they wan't to run them straight into combat and then complain when they get isolated and pickedd apart.

The way i think they should be played and the most succesfull way i field them is to keep them behind your warriors , that way if your warriors get assaulted you have some serious hitting power to back you up

I like the idea of Pariahs in the fluff, they have good potential and seem critical in current Necron fluff.

But they are awful on the table top. There is a few instances where they can be helpful but those are rare and require some luck. They're good at countering Meganobz and Power Fist Terminators, I1 basically, but if they fail to do wounds they are screwed. They suck otherwise.

36 points is way to much for a 1 wound I3 model with no inv save or WBB. They don't have the survivability to make them useful enough in this edition and with Phase Out, they definately aren't worth it. Their warscythes are a great piece of kit, but they never last to show you what they could do with them.

They need major revising, I hope they are still in the new codex. Just so they can be redeemed.

I Hope they keep them it will be a loss to lose them form the new codex.

As long as there is a new unit that still uses Warscythes, I guess I'll be ok, though i did kind of like their special rules.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

The rumour is that the Pariahs will just be renamed and have ever-so-slightly different fluff (as well as new rules of course)
Also, here is the fluff for them, courtesy of Lexicanum:
