Aloha!

After my last game this past Saturday http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/367523.page a couple of my buddies decided to do a quick throw-down as I documented it.

Tyler`s Tau:

-Shas`O Battle Suit with Tracker, Plasma Rifle and Cyclic Ion Blaster
-2 Squads of ten Fire Warriors with Photon Grenades
-2 Squads of 10 Kroot including Shaper and Upgrade
-A Squad of two Crisis Suits with Tracker, Missiles and Plasma Rifles
-A Broadside with Advanced Stabilization

Aaron`s Salamanders:

-Space Marine Captain with Thunder Hammer
-Ten man Tacticle Squad with Multi Melta
-Ten man Tacticle Squad, Sargent with Power Sword and Drop Pod
-Land Speeder, Heavy Flamer and Multi Melta
-Dreadnaught with a Twin Linked Heavy Flamer in a Drop Pod
-Whirl Wind

Kill Points and 12 inch Deplyment on a 4x4 board.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The Salamanders had discovered a secret weapons development facility the Tau had been using to create a passive-defensive technology. It had to do with pshcyo-hallucinogenic chemicals that would cause threats to the Tau empire to "have some really bad trips", as the captured Tau Scientist described it. This would then allow the Tau to swoop in and offer soothing words and hugs which would sap the will of the opposing forces. Fearful that this could disturb the very Grim-Dark aesthetic of the 41st millennium (not to mention the freak-out sessions that Grim-Dark would cause) and the very nature of war, the stoic Salamanders moved swiftly to end this most dire, and silly, threat to Mankind. Little did they know, the Tau were simply inviting the Salamanders the first of many potential "Happenings" .................................................................

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Deployment

Top of Round 1
The Salamander Dread arrives deepwithin the Tau lines, and erases a unit of Fire Warriors and opens a big hole in the Tau battle line.

Bottom of Round 1
The Broadside targets the Whirlwind but it is too concealed by cover. Meanwhile the Dread absorbs the shooting of the rest of the Tau line but is left virtually unscathed with only Shaken and Weapon Destroyed results.

===============================================================================================================

Top of Round 2
The Dread changes Direction, taking Tyler by surprise, and just about makes it into charge range to his Shas`o, and takes it out of the game. It then massacres up behind the Imperial statue as it makes its way the the sniping Broadside.

Bottom of Round 2
The Dread (and for that matter the Speeder that is targeted by the Crisis Suits refuses to die (Shaken results as far as the eye can see)

===============================================================================================================

Top of Round 3
As this battle mostly hinges on the rampaging Dread, we follow its antics as it is now armless and shaken and has just rolled a "1" on its run move, leaving it out in the open to finally be finished off by the broadside....maybe. Meanwhile the seemingly impervious Speeder, having taken a hale of Tau-enhanced Kroot bullets land leaving it immobilized. continues to snipe away.

Bottom of Round 3
The Dread does not pop, but continues to be shaken mutch to the chagrin of the Tau.

===============================================================================================================

Top of Round 4
The Captain finally arrives to steal the show away staggering Dread and plops right down in front of the Broadside and peppers the Fire Warriors who seem to be using the maligned Pscho-Hallucinatory chemical weapons. Obviously the captain is keen to get to the source of this blasphemous silliness. With support fire from the Whirlwind the Fire Warrios are pined

Bottom of Round 4
The Broadside backs up and as far away as it can from the captain as it opens fire on the Dread as a unit of Kroot arrive via Outflank to save the last of the Firewarriors. Alas, on both fronts the Tau Fail as the Dread is only stunned and the Kroot are wiped out due to sweeping advance.

===============================================================================================================

Top of Round 5
The Fire Warriors are finished off in one fell swoop by the commander as the rest of the Salamander hold their position, as they are comfortably in the lead by three kill points.

Bottom of Round 5
This may be the last chance for a come back for the Tau. The other unit of Kroot engaged with the shoot out with the Speeder weapon-weapon-imobilized and finally weapons it to death closing the kill point gap to two. The crisis suit finally has a clear bead on the Whirlwind and has a good chance to take it out!...... but only stuns it, keeping it in theme with the Tau`s luck all day long. With now no chance to even draw, the Broadside takes one more shot before the potential clobbering from the captain. It aims at the Dread aaaaand....... immobilized.

================================================================================================================

Game Ends with a Salamander Victory by two Kill Points.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Analysis:
I would say the rampaging dread should have received every little bit of attention the Tau could aim at it. Also, as a general rule for Kill Points, the Tau should not have been so spread out. But it was a fun game for all involved.I look forward to Aaron and Tyler`s input, and I thank them for letting me cover their game.

And thank you for checking it out!

Aloha!

Oh god those Tau are hideous. Jokes. Tell your friends that their armies are really well painted, especially those Sallies. How I envy those greens.

Nice batrep. Always fun to have rampaging Dreads. Dropping the captain down was a pretty good move.

This was indeed an awesome game. Those fire warriors getting pinned at the end really saved that tactical squad.

I can't get over all the damage tokens behind the dread!

My two favorite armies dueling each other...too bad my second favorite won

As for the suits.....They're very well painted and look awesome, but mixing Gundam and XV8s just doesn't sit right with me

Thanks for the report Morehammer! Your reports always make me want to bust out my armies and play 40k again, in ways that the vast majority of 40k batreps don't ... So keep it up, one of these days I might just return to the grimdark future

Wow! Awesome report Solomon! Thanks for letting us get in a game after you! The pics came out great, guess I'll have to start taking pictures of the army now.
I guess this shall be my introduction as well:

Aloha all! my name is Tyler, and I am the cause of the freak-outs to all the Grim-Dark denizens
This is my first army for 40k, still building it up. Prior to this I used to play BattleTech, but, that was like 15 years ago. Time to jump back in the fray!
-oh yeah, it only gets freakier from here on.

Thanks! I used plasticard and two arm bits to make the wings. I based it off of the Strike-Freedom Gundam, from "Seed Destiny".

The Broadside is based off the Gundam Wing series, the others are RX78's, off the original Gundam series (if a purist, off of the 8th MS Team OVA series)
