Aloha and welcome to another Morehammer report.
Sorry about the lack of fluff. I encourage anyone who has time to add some
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The Mission: Secure and Control. The Set-Up: Dawn of War.
The Armies:
Grey Knights
-Librarian with Warp Rift and Master Crafted Nemesis Force sword.
-Ten Man Terminator Grey Knights including two Psy-Cannons, 4 Halberds, 1 Falchion, 2 Thunder Hammers, the one on the Justicar's is Master Crafted, Warding Stave and Psybolts.
-The Same as above but with two Incinerators instead of Psy-Cannons
-Ten Man Interceptor squad with the same load-out as the first Terminator squad, except the Justicar has a Master Crafted Sword and both Hammers are in the squad.
-Dread Knight with Sword, Gatling Psilencer and Teleporter Thingy
Necrons
-Destroyer Lord with Orb and War Scythe
-Lord with Veil and Sun Fare Thingy (I think he was the one who had it)
-Ten Immortals
-Two squads of Warriors, one or ten and the other twelve
-Five Destroyers
-Two squads of nine Scarabs
-Two Heavy Destroyers
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The Deployment
I (Solomon) win the roll and hand it to Dave to go first. Dave droped three of the five Objectives around the near cluster of buildings and during deployment, set up the bulk of his forces on them. I, being a cheeky Grey Knights player, decide to Deep Strike everything
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Top Of Round One to Top of Round Two
The Necron army emerge from th embers of dawn and loiter around the ruins, mocking the crude piles of STCs they find scattered about. The Scarabs show up and are about to digest the contents of those STC piles, when all of a sudden......
Bottom of Round Two
The Grey Knights teleport in, all units Combat Squadded. Only one half of the Interceptor squad and the Dread Knight fail to show up yet. Necron casualties are relatively light with the exception of two destroyers and single Interceptors lucky Psybolt shots dropping a Heavy Destroyer
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Top of Round Three
The Necrons are quick and fierce in their response. One squad of Terminators are tied up in combat with a unit of Scarabs as another squad of Terminators are obstructed by the other unit of Scarabs. The Necron lord on foot veils in near my Librarian, surrounded by ten Immortals as he is supported by The Destroyer lord in his unit of Destroyers. One question came up whether an interceptor squad can cast Warp Quake on the turn that it deep strikes in (Deep Striking and Warp Quake happen at the same time), that one may need a FA-Q, but for now we assumed not . Casualties are heavy as nearly half of the Terminators are wiped out.
Bottom of Round Three
The turn begins with the Dread Knight showing up in the wrong dimension. I Scattered him 11 inches right off the table At this point, it looked like my army was fated to lose this skirmish, and badly. It is at this point that I remember the power I gave my Librarian. I move in to cast Warp Rift on the Lord and his Immortals. A good number of Immortals roll 1s and 2s, but critically the Lord gets sucked into the warp, grounding them there. The interceptors aid the Librarian in finishing off the Immortals in combat as the rest of my terminator squads get bogged down and greatly out numbered by Scarabs and Warriors.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Top of Round Four
The Necron victory is skirting very closely to a Phase-Out and the battle hinges on a single combat: The Destroyer Lord vs the Librarian. Both have received one wound but that leaves the Librarian with only a single wound remaining. While the Destroyer Lord moves in for the kill, the Scarabs are busy whittling down the terminators. The Necron supporting fire continues to thin the remaining Terminators numbers, leaving the Librarian without his escort, including the Justicar wielding the Master Crafted Thunder Hammer. Finally the two great warriors meet in single combat. Simultaneously, the squad of 2 Terminators engaged with two squads of Necron warriors gains a upper hand, sending one unit off the table. Sensing the turning tide, the Librarian side-steps the 4 War-Scythe attacks (Dave rolled 1, 1, 2, 3), and severs the Destroyer Lords head.
Bottom of Round Four
The arrival of the interceptors carrying two Psy-Cannons and another Warp Rift cast by the Librarians, the Destroyers are finished off, adding to that the
destruction of a few more warriors, sees the Necrons Phasing-out.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;
Whew that was a close one! Those Scarabs were well worth their points and rumor has it that they may just be getting better! The battle between my Librarian and the Destroyer Lord really was pivotal as it sounded, because had the Destroyer Lord triumphed, the Necrons could then have removed the remaining 7 Terminators with ease. Oh and next time, a teleport Homer for my Librarian would be great. Or at least a Servo Skull or Three
All in all a great game against competitive, humble, and all-around great opponent. Thanks Dave!
And thanks to you for checking it out!
Aloha!

Nice report, seeing as I've just started playing necrons (coming from 'nids and briefly space wolves) it's nice to know there are other folks willing to put their robots on the table despite the odds against us.
Congrats on the win. The soulless will have their uppance, though it may take a new codex for it to happen.

Nice report and good pictures. A few questions that I think I missed...
-The Dreadknight rolleda 1/2 on the mishap table? If so bad luck, you just mentioned he was off the board.
-The scarabs looked like they had a wound on them in one picture, is there a reason you did not use your NFW to ID the bases - I don't think they have EW right?

Yep, I rolled a 2 on the mishap table for my Dread Knight:( But it was worth it for the Deamon pic
And I used Hammer Hand For the purposes of getting the 2+ to wound as I was facing a unit of 9 Scarabs. I figure that was going to be more useful then Removing the remains of a single base
And as for Thawn, I all ready felt this army was way too outnumbered. However I may experiment with him should a model ever be released
And unfortunately, this was the Debut for my Dread Knight, so I still do not know if he is worth the points, other then a bit of comic relief

The neat thing about the ID rules are it requires your opponent to remove whole models where possible. So if you cause 3 wounds with NFW, that is 3 bases removed for a total of 9 overall wounds - which is some awesome combat resolution!
I am mixed on the Dreadknight too, I think it has a role and will be good, it just remains to be seen how it will be used.

Would it not be easier to experiment with him when there is no model ? just a though
and from what i have read an effective way to use him is to camp him on an objective in cover to avoid ID and basically capture/contest the objective with "i shall not yeild"
or just use him to slow things like Hive Tyrants, Necron lords generally anything that left will do huge damage
Ahh right was hoping to hear good things look forward to hearing of its antics in future reports

Ahhhh, that`s right! I will have to apply that to the next game I play!

Good point. He would also be a real "Thawrn in the side" in KIll Point Missions Maybe I will pick up a Brother-Captain model to proxy him with, and If I do not like the play style, I will just use it as the Brother Captain.
And as for the Dread Knight, being able to roll up one flank while being supported by interceptors (that is the critical bit, he needs support that can keep up with him) just sounds too delicious

Thawn in the side indeed
now that you bring it up
kill points mission = Draigo + paladins + Thawnanators = EPIC WIN !!!!
perhaps a pair of Dreadknights moving togeather ? move them to keep one hidden behind the other if one is charged there is a counter charge, if one is killed by shooting they should be close enough to wreck some havoc

This was indeed a fun game.
You warned me before the game how dangerous warp rift is for an army with initiative terrible. But I didn't take it seriously enough. I thought I could wipe out that squad with tons of shooting.
Next time I'll have to bring a C'tan! ...can I borrow yours?

Very handsome armies. I'm jealous. I don't think I can ever get my army to the same standards as yours (at least not without paying someone a lot of money to paint my army for me).
Wait, senjistudios? I think I've seen some of your works on ebay. They are seriously awesome.
Necrons definitely have it tough against the knights, especially if the knights are built with mobility. Not impossible, but definitely challenging.
