Hit that dread with some highlights and it will pop! I would also drill out the barrels. Not bad though! I like the scouts.

Will try to do some highlights on it. Would a 1 to 1 mix of enchanted blue and necron abyss be OK for them? Also have to finish the whole under carriage.

Here is the finished dread. For now anyway. Now i really want to work on some sternguard i got a killer deal on. 30bucks for 2 boxes. Going to do the basing when i have a playable force painted. The highlights later so I don't get tired of the dread.

Nice work! I want to echo the suggestion of highlights. Also washes are a great way to get depth and expression into a model and they're really easy to do. I suggest either Asurman Blue or Leviathan Purple... diluted about 33%. You can either wash the whole figure or paint it into the recesses and joins.

Keep up the good work!

Yeah washes do wonders for giving models depth. I plan on using asurmen blue on the necron abyss, gryphon sepia on any gold, and badab black on silver. On and thanks for the vote of confidence in the subscription prototype.

Sounds like a solid plan Stoneless. Look forward to seeing them continue to develop.

Well, color balance wise he looks fine. Can't tell anything more from the pic...but progress is progress.

I know no highlights yet. The washes help though. For some reason highlights intimidate me. Will take a better photo when it isn't raining outside for better lighting. Next models is going to be a bolter marine for a tac squad to figure out highlights.

First attempts at highlights. I kind of like them so far just need to do them more before my nicer models get them.

For a first attempt at highlights? Not bad. Would have to zoom in a bit more -what camera you using, if a camera at all?

The wash also helps a lot. But good progress so far!

MY lg ally is my camera. Used to have a nice camera but we left it in the truck for a winter and it didn't survive. If i get some sun this week i will post an army shot outside of what i have painted.

The edge highlighting helps. You will eventually need a better camera in order to get the most of out posting on dakka. If no one can see what you've done, no one can offer suggestions for improving it!

right now just happy that the highlights show up? The camera works better during the day outside. So i guess that is how i will do any army shot.

I can see the highlights... but not much else. Just do the best with what you've got, but at some point your photographs will limit how much useful feedback you'll be getting.
