The walker is actually growing on me quite a bit, very tempting to get one...but I think I'll hold off until we see if this extra Cult Mechanicus 'dex is really a thing; no point thinking about the army I want to build until I know what all the options are going to be.

I agree, I like the walker when it has the full footpads down, when there are only headlights in the front, and when it has an integrated turret weapon (as opposed to the big, blocky missile launcher). I'm debating picking up a small force for combat patrols, so I don't think I'll have too much use for it, but I still may get one if my opinion continues to improve. I do like tanks!

Mmm, agreed. If I do pick a squadron up, it'll be with Neutron/doublestubber loadout and I'll model it with feet down and the IWND upgrade as a repair servoskull or the like, so I can have both headlights. If I ever did decide to grab one of the AA loadouts, I'd reserve the main weapon mount for just the autocannons, and put something along the lines of a Havok/Hyperios launcher up on the cupola to represent the missile launchers.

The Legio Cybernetica is probably gone by 40k amalgamated into something else.... though I think I remember them in Epic at some point.

Remember the Mechanicum is different too the Adeptus Mechanicus

Legio Cybernetica is listed in the book:

Spoiler:

Well, obviously GW wouldn't shrink away from releasing a codex full of big robots just because of something called 'established fluff'

Again though, the established fluff is that the Legio Cybernetica did survive the Heresy and Robots do exist in 40K:

Following the defeat of the Heresy and the banishment of the Traitor Legions, the dishonored Legio cohorts also fled into the Eye of Terror, where they remain to this day. Since the defeat of Horus, the Legio Cybernetica has pledged itself anew to the Imperium. Its members now take binding oaths of loyalty more terrible than any Marine Chapter oaths.

Graia : The "Forgeworld" is now gigantic space stations that can have "giant fusion engines" fitted and then move as mobile battle stations to a new world

Legio Cybernetica has never been destroyed in the fluff that I recall - just not mentioned much anymore.

Apparently the "current" Graia was ruined by the attack of Donorian predators (?)

another interesting snippet is that a Skitarri Alpha comes up with a way of burning a layer of a planets atmosphere to destroy the waves of incoming tryranid spores - its a great success but his report is filed away on a nearby Forgeworld and forgotton

Also an interesting thing to note:

The Skitarii codex is labeled as "Printed in the UK' on the back and the usual technical stuff in the front says "Printed by Belmont in the UK".
It also says "Games Workshop in Nottingham" rather than the Games Workshop Design Studio, which I thought was different.

It's ok a exploratory shortly team discovers an ancient lost nerve gas weapon on Holy Terra called Raduim Anti Insect Destroyer and unleashes it against the Nids in retribution for this loss.

yeah, I'm happy to see it happened. GW has in their 'dexes, of late, I've been noticing making more referances to black library, the FFG RP stuff etc. it's a good thing.

That's all they need to do - references here and there (like the new Calix-robot that FW put out) - just to make things more cohesive and show how it's all one big universe.

I still don't like the walker.

I will be converting a Steampunk 4-legged walker from IronClad miniatures.

I love the infantry though.

And also bought 2 x 10 units Covenant of Antarctica Automatons (robots) from Spartan game Dystopian Legions.
I needed a reason to buy some and admech is a perfect reason.

I LOVE the Onager! Amazing model, love the weapons. Gonna get a bunch.

I really didn't like the Ruststalkers/Infiltrators at first though, but the Infiltrators are starting to grow on me. I love their dome heads, very old-school sci-fi. Seems quite good in-game as well, debuffing enemies that are close by, getting some shots in and they seem OK in CC.

Might just get 3 Onagers and some Infiltrators to go along with my Vanguards and Rangers I already have.

Love this release, the codex is just beautiful, and a really interesting read. Kudos to GW on this one! Now let's just hope the Cult Mechanicus rumours are true.. or not, depending on if you view ther matter from mine or my wallets perspective.

I picked up the codex this weekend, and rather enjoy it. I think it's definitely an interesting army. However, I want to wait for the full AdMech codex to see if these guys get any transports like a "Mars Pattern Chimera" or other means of mobility.

A pair of the crawlers with the Icarus Array is some decent AA. Not incredibly resilient at AV12, but I like them on paper.

A pair of them gives you a 5++, right? I just don't think I'd run 3. That's a large footprint you have to find room for on the table, if nothing else. 2 seems the right number for me.

Did a dry run of one squad of 10 of both Vanguards and Ruststalkers against a like amount of Tac Marines and Vanguard Vets respectivly. The poor marines didn't know what hit them. With the right Warlord trait to fire overwatch at BS4 half the marines were dead on the charge. The other half did tie up the Vanguard for about 9 rounds of combat before the sargeant, the last marine standing, went down. The other combat was much more one sided in favor of the Ruststalkers.

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!" —Jago Sevatarion

None of that email contradicts the quote I posted. Nor does it contradict the fact that "Legio Cybernetica" is right there in big chunky letters as part of the AdMech organisation pyramid in the Skitarii 'dex. The fluff supports Legio Cybernetica forces being active in 40K.

Now sure, GW could put out no rules for the Legio at all, or could put out rules and models for Cybernetica and not include the Castellan(Castellax) or Crusader(Vorax) at all, and FW could then subsequently refuse to put out rules for using their models in 40K-era games, but I don't think even GW hate making money enough to be that thick.
