I would probably do the same if I was scammed and I have learned that he was actively scamming others. Keeps the communities aware. Why not?

Good point except it would seem it pops up once a month with the something posted, but with a guy with only 2 - 3 total posts.... Call me a Nay-sayer but i have been scammed before (by a forum mod on a Reputable magic card site......) And sad part is whining about it online won't help other since the guy could just use a different address no problem. I suggest contacting the Post office or local police since both tend to look down on mail fraud.

yeah, kind of hard to do that when he also seems to be moving every 4-5 months. Also, I have no hard address. The one record I might have had was with paypal, but they pulled the record off access after a few weeks and my paper copy I sent in a a fraud package to the authorities. -- which accomplished nothing.

Your doing this right by contacting the Authorities however Trashing his name online TOO MUCH could make him able to sue you even if what you post is true since character assassination is not looked kindly upon by judges even if it is deserved. (Maybe i watch to much judge judy?)

I'd let his little 'toady' be. It could literally be someone that had such a good experience with the guy that he feels obliged to defend him, or was asked to on the grounds of 'No way I'm capable of this stuff they're accusing me of, weren't you happy with yours?' Total psyche job, but w/e.

And if a site doesn't listen, you tried. Perhaps after a few people are burned there they'll listen to reason. Their loss.

A bit too much Judge Judy. Even if there was a single thread that the thief/scam artist responded to and claimed character assassination, all the people that he's scammed would have to be listened to, and answers found about their claims. Not gonna happen. Anyone I've heard of that was robbed by this guy had a different name, or did everything on the phone so there was little to no electronic trail.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong with helping the community to stay alert, and aware of scam artists. His story about family issues is years old now, yet it works so why would he stop using it? Make sure before you have someone do some custom work that they have a verified paypal, and make sure that most of the communications come through e-mails, including addresses, phone numbers and details of the trade. The more solid the paper trail on this guy the better the chance that eventually the authorities can nab him. It would also be remarkably helpful if the sites worked together to net him, but that's unlikely.

This issue has already been raised on Dakka and redstarone is well known by a number of members here.

I have been keeping track of this guy since i also use swap shop.

I gave some info to the mods dunno why they didnt act on it.

I told you guys over and over again he is scamming you guys, but all the swap mods ever do is delete / lock my warnings.

This guy doesnt have a dead son or dead wife , hes been happily doing his thing on other forums / sites while taking dakka member's trades / $$$ for a ride.
You know , all the time he is on his time out away from Dakka dakka back then ? No he wasnt dealing with his RL stuff , he is dealing with ANOTHER GROUP he is scamming simultaneously.

Yep i have a problem and im going to voice it now. dont EVER lock , delete , or edit any potential swap shop problems. THIS is what happens when you do.

He has the audacity because any warning and discussion / informing others about his scams have been hushed. I dont care if thats not the intention , but thats the result "hushed"
thats why he have the audacity and gets to slip away so easily.

Anyone that have scammed , without able to provide proof, should be black listed in the open.
There should be a blacklist stickied in swap shop , with the person's name and address , and email /paypal address ( though this wont help as much but oh well )

Yeah, I had my own run in with RSO. I was able to get my money back though, thanks to Paypal.
The story I got from him is that his wife had cancer or something like that and apparently he was so busy going to and from the hospital that 40 days wasn't enough time to ship me 6 toy soldiers.

So let me get this straight... this case has been pending over a year and you're just now looking to take action? If it was me, I'd've looked into some form of legal redress about three months after the fact.

Right now, without some kind of hard evidence, it looks more and more to me like somebody has an axe to grind and is using this forum to do it.

There are many, many users on this website, as well as other users on other sites that have been taken in by redstarone and have lost large amounts of time, money and models to him. There is no axe to grind. From what I have heard people who have contacted the authorities have had non-interested replies.

Duly noted, wheels are turning etc etc.

To address a few concerns raised in this thread:

1) Redstarone has been discussed thoroughly on this website. The OP even linked to two of those discussions.
2) Redstarone is permanently suspended from this site
3) Redstarone has not made good on the many Dakka members he has scammed, including Alpharius

To LunaHound in particular, I'm really not sure where you're coming from. All the information is out there about redstarone (Matthew Bonder- the name is wrong in the OP) on Dakka. His escapades are listed in the Transaction Report List sticky for all to see.

In other words, there's no need for us to have this thread open. It sucks what he's done in the past (and may be continuing to do?) but we've discussed it and can't always have it dominating the page. Especially since none of his transactions can happen on Dakka anymore...

With that said, thanks for the warning, and I'm going to lock this up. If for some reason anyone has new information not covered in the previous transaction reports about redstarone (linked to in the OP) about trades on Dakka, please PM me, and if needed a new transaction report can be made.
