Hi Everyone, Im working on a space marine gunline style army. I have chosen the Emperors Warbringers because i like that there is no fluff for them and they have a cool paint scheme. I am trying to go for a real utilitarian type of look to the army so I'm trying to stay away from capes and back banners and stuff. So far I have only got one tac squad done but I got some more units in the works . more to come
added some more pics.

heres my captain. He's equipped with a combimelta and auxilary grenade launcher and powerfist, i know his war gear seems kind of dumb but i really wanted to try it out.

Thanks! I think next time I will go with the slatted armor kit from chapterhouse studios because that was a pain to get to look right.

I hosted a painting seminar at my FLGS over the weekend, that was fun. I might do it again but i hope more than a couple people show up next time. At least it gave me a chance to geek out and talk about warhammer all day. Just gotta wait on my next student loans to free up some cash for a couple dreadnoughts. I'm thinking about picking up an Ironclad and maybe a regular dread with a rifleman load out. we'll see. thanks for reading

Great work! These guys are about as banged up as you can get without looking ridiculous. Nice and dirty, but still in fighting shape - the way it should be, in my opinion. Half-melted Rhinos are great markers when your lines get hit by D-strength weapons in Apocalypse, but aside from a few scattered impacts and a crumpled plate here and there, painted/pigment soot and chipping is the way to go.

A lot of the chipping on your troops is pretty fine - I assume you're using sponge for the initial application? I'd suggest carrying that technique over to the armor, as well. It'll help keep the flats interesting while allowing you to tone down the large, painted scuffs, a bit.

The Dreadnote wrote:But the Emperor already has a shrine, in the form of your local Games Workshop. You honour him by sacrificing your money to the plastic effigies of his warriors. In time, your devotion will be rewarded with the gift of having even more effigies to worship.

thanks for the tips, i think i will try to do a more sponge on my next tank I'd also like to try a trick i saw someone use with a light to heat the plastic so you can make some nice dents but im afraid of ruining a perfectly good model, i might experiment on some scrap pieces soon though. again thanks for the input i appreciate it.

experimented with denting using a lighter, pretty glad I tried this out on scarp bit though. It looks really cool but its just too unpredictable and could easily ruin a model. Basically all i did was heat up the reverse side of the piece then poke it with a nice round brush end. The edges kind of curled up a bit but it will make a nice detail for some terrain. I was pleased with the rust and metallic effects though. Also modeling some assault dudes, going for some really dynamic poses. also workin on some eldar for my friend, im pretty pleased with how the paint job is coming along on the wraith lord. thanks for reading hope to have more soon.

Have not gotten a whole lot done recently. I did manage to get my Sargent for my next tac squad done though. I am pretty pleased with the results especially the power sword. I had a bit of a clear got malfunction on the sword blade that gave it a weird haze, it was quite a happy accident as i really like the haze because it reminds me of the fluff in the novels. I also just got done adding some fixins to the bases for the rest of the tac squad. hope to get a pic of those up soon too. thanks for reading

just a quick update. I finished reading Rynn's world about a week ago and picked up the ultramarines omnibus a few days ago. pretty good books, the fluff is very inspiring and i've gotten a few good ideas for my upcoming squads from them. once i've appeased the machine spirit of my wife's camera i hope to have more photos up. Soon my brethren!

I had a friend over the other day who has just started getting into the wonderful world of hobbying who is also a professional photographer. She offered to take some pictures of some of my models as additional payment for shower her some tricks of the hobby i had picked up so, my interest having been piqued i started putting together a little photobooth set to see how epic i could get everything before the real jobby next weekend. It was pretty fun.

Nice attempt to make really sci-fi and militaristic SM. I am tired of Gothic accessories and that medieval look.

Got some more guys modeled for the most part. Tried to do some things that seemed cool but turned out to be completely impractical but that's okay how ya supposed to know if ya don't try. very pleased with the Sgt. looks kinda thuggin but i suppose assault marines should be allowed to be thuggin if they want to. been adding a bunch of extra bits to most of marines to bulk them up a bit and make them look like they are actually prepared to fight a war. hope you enjoy them and thanks for reading. I'll try to get some more done as soon as i can.

I just got IA 9 and 10. SO MUCH COOL STUFF! I think i am gettin ahead of myself though lol. Anyway what is the deal with IA special characters anyway? can you just take them for your army if your opponent is cool with it or what? I know a couple of the dudes say that they can be used as part of an army taken from the BA codex and stuff so i am assuming that as long as they are codex and i follow the rules i can add them. Well eventually. First things first though, need to get these guys i have done and painted before moving on to fancy boarding actions and uber special characters. should probably get a game or two in to make sure i even like the game... lol. j/k . im sure i'll like it. anyway thanks for reading hope to have more soon.

after looking through IA 10 The Badab War part 2, i think I will be taking my army in a different direction. not much but slightly. When I started I knew i wanted an urban combat themed army and IA has a whole lot of stuff that makes that possible and really awesome. I really like the siege stuff in there. Luckily my captain(shown a few posts back) happens to be equipped perfectly to be a counts as for one of the Named Captains in the book. I think i will probably try that out some time. He will be a counts-as Cpt. Zhrukhal Androcles of the captain of the star phantoms 9th company AKA the Siegebreaker. He adds +1 to rolls on damage chart against anything with an armor value. AND devastator squads can be taken as elite AND/or heavy choices. that sounds pretty cool. Until i get some terminators and possibly convert up a Lord Asterion Moloc counts as. Anyway. Got the assault squad done and have started on my last batch of tactical marines. should be getting some painting done here soon if i can just finish modelling these guys. Also kind of making the current squad im working on to be used as a kill team so i can actually play sometime. okay that's all for now. Thanks for reading and I hope i didnt say too much about the rules from IA. Don't want to infringe on anything.

Hi everyone finally got some time tonight to get some painting done. Got my second tac squad Primed, base coated, zen light and futured. pretty good night work. Hope i didnt go to heavy on the future though i was having some air brush issues. I painted to much without stopping to clean the airbrush really good so it was starting to clog up by the time i got to the future stage. Should be fine though. thanks for reading
