so today i went down to my FLGS with my buddies looking to spend some money. On the main shelf they had finely displayed their new shipment of finecaste minis. so we all picked one up looking to purchase them. i myself play space marines, so i got a company master. my friend (ilikethattau) purchased striking scorpions and an autarch. when we got back to my house, we eargerly opened the boxes to build them. my company master came out superb, nice trim lines, little to no flash and 0 mis-casts. my friend however, had a different experience. (this is not a "wah wah wah complaining about fine-cast" thread) his stuff was mis casted and some parts broken.

anyway, why im posting here: ill be posting pictures about my painting and modeling process of the company master. here is the bare mini, just put together.

First off, nice to see that not all Finecast minis are crap. Sucks for your friend, but sounds like yours is fine.

Secondly, I just got the same figure in metal, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Let us know how easy/hard it is to work with and paint on!

i have read on the internet that finecast models do not require to be primed before painting, so i took it upon myself to try this

Heres how it came out

ive spent allot of time painting this mini, i want him to be a showpeice of my army. keep in mind i still have to base him, if you have any suggestions or comments, feel free, i encourage you.

painting this model was great, i didnt use primer and the paint stuck with out it absorbing itself. the resin is very poures and absorbs paint well. i would definetly reccomend fine cast minis to everyone, the skilled painter and the not so great.

That's a very nice paintjob - suitably grimdark with a good, rich red. I have a question though, is the sword's edge straight? Because I have seen a variety of the minis and a fair amount of the swords being wobbly or just slightly miscast, sadly there's little that can be done to fix it, especially since the swords are so small and fiddly to fix.

This shows some problems with the sword.

When they get the quality of that mini to be the average for all, they will be golden. That one looks good, great with your paintjob.
