Subject: Tank shock question

Consider the following tank shocking situation:
A = unit 1
B = unit 2
[VVV]
[VVV]
[VVV] = vehicle 2 (belongs to unit 2)
[VVV]
A__[VVV]
___[VVV]
__B[VVV]
__B[VVV]
__BBBBB
Assume to the left of A is impassable terrain (or other enemy models). Also, unit A is less than 2" from unit B's vehicle. Now a vehicle from unit A's side tank shocks unit B. They then fail morale and fall back.
Now according to the rules for falling back, you have to fall back via the shortest distance to your board edge. However, by doing so (falling straight back), unit B would be trapped between unit A and their own vehicle. Thus, they would be destroyed.
Or can unit B fall back by going to the right (and thus around their own vehicle)? If so, how can they do this?
Thanks.

Page 45, trapped. They can fall back by going to the right, maintaining as much as possible the shortest route.

Don't tank shock, its not worth it in this edition.
For falling back, if they can move a longer way to avoid getting trapped, they must do that. If they get trapped, they get destroyed.

The fall back in whatever direction they can legally move (ie: not through other units or impassible), taking the path which gives them the shortest legal route toward their table edge. In some cases it's possible that this will actually be a move which is entirely parallel to or partially away from their edge.
The main rulebook FAQ wrote:Q: If a unit making a fall back move can only move its full distance by moving away from its board edge due to enemy troops and/or impassable terrain does it count as being Trapped! (p45)
A: No, a unit will only be Trapped! if it is completely surrounded and is unable to move its full fall back move in any direction without doubling back on itself.

If you can, and have no other options, why not?

The chance of breaking non-Fearless units can be huge. It can be a very useful rule for contesting objectives by driving through units. And of course you can bunch enemies up by doing it, making them more vulnerable to blast and template weapons in your shooting phase.
