So I wanted to add a few obliterators to my CSM army, but I don't really like existing GW models. After seeing some of the conversions done by using the CSM terminators kit, I decided to give it a try. Here are first three oblitz. Green-stuff sculpts are mostly done. Critique, comments and hints are all welcome....

Thanks! WIP on two of the obliterators:

One of the obliterators is almost done, the only thing left to do is to finish the base of the miniature.
They are being painted in the colors of the Word Bearers legion.

Ahhh! My friend is playing world eaters and would like to use obliterators in his force to add fire support but can not afford to fork out for the rather ugly GW models. I suggested the terminator kit as a starting base for conversions and I wondered how hey would look, these are fantastic and a great inspiration. I will show him this thread!

Sorry I can't do that. I'm doing this for the fun of it, and in my spare time... you should try doing the conversion yourself if you got some free time, it's not that hard.

YES!

Man I am not kidding, earlier tonight I was making up a 2K list for my Plague Marines and was bumming that I do not have an Obliterators and went to eBay checking on the new Terminators to convert to Obliteraters because the size difference between my 2nd Ed Terminators and the newer plastics would be decent enough to create a passable Obliterator model, and it looks like I was right! Wicked decent job you've done here, I'm completely inspired now and I am DEFINITELY going to be buying some plastic Terminators now!

Subbed and looking forward to seeing more!

Well, the vacation is over and it was a blast As far as the hobby goes, I started to work on two daemon princes for my CSM army. I'll probably do one large post of how I did my custom DPs, but for now here are a few pics of a Hive Guard model I just finished painting. So far I have a box of gaunts and this HG finished, and several boxes of nids waiting to be assembled... if I ever find time to do it :(. I tried several variations of colorschemes, and finally settled with the color scheme of a "volcano nids" .

I finally made some progress on the Tzeentch DP. The idea was to make two DP-s out of the box of regular plastic DP and of a new cockatrice model. One DP would be Tzeentch DP made out of upper cockatrice body and wings, and of plastic DP body. THe other DP - Slaanesh DP, would be made out of cockatrice tail and plastic DP parts.

Progress so far on the Tzeentch DP:
I started by cutting the cockatrice body in two. The tail part will later be used for Slaaneshy DP. I pinnned plastic DP legs to the cockatrice torso and then I made the missing lower body part out of the milliput.

Then I sculpted some fur (feathers ? ) for the legs and added loin cloth and plastic DP hands. At this point I am not sure if I'll keep the loin cloth... I may rescult it, it looks too flat to me...
The sculpted chests are suppose to be part of a DP armor, but these still need a lot of work...

I also started working on the model base. First I glued some cork and added a layer of milliput on top of it. The Idea is to scratch in chaos runes into the milliput and make it look like a piece of Tzeentch temple... I skethched some runes and symbol of tzeentch with a pencil first.

... and then I scratched the runes with sculpting tools... I'm not sure if this will work at the end, we will see once it gets painted, hopefully it will look like etched stone floor...

That is it so far... Comments, critique and ideas are all welcome... Cheers!

DONE AND DONE I finnaly grabbed some free time to finish the Tzeentch DP model. I did cut off original plastic DP feet as they were too small. Then I sculpted new ones from GS. The wings are from a Cockatrice kit, as is the loin cloth piece. I added some additional cloth made from GS to the model's midsection to go with platic cloth bit. Instead of using the shoulderpads from DP kit, I sculpted some fur. The shoulderpads did not go well with the way I attached hands to the copckatrice model. Chest armour pice is copied from DP kit bit with Insta-mold and fitted to the model.

After a coat of mat varnish the colors got a bit darker, but still I think it looks good for a tabletop model.

I changed the base for a ruined temple resin base, which looks way better . I gave it a coat of gloss varnish, and it looks really good, almost like a polished marble...

That DP is excellent, one of the most "no question whatsoever" (regarding which Ruinous Power the DP follows) models I've seen in a while. Great job on it all around!
