I recently obtained a few SM bikes, trouble is, they are missing the wheels... so... insteade of muckinh about, I think I am just going to make them into hover/jet bikes.

NOW, the problem is I am not actually sure what to do. So i am wondering if someone can help with a few ideas? I am incredibly reluctant to go and get more bits, and would like to stick with plasticard...

For the moment here is the idea of what I have:
Add two tubes on the back where the wheels went, narrowing down by two steps, and detailed up to look like jet ports. On the front of the bike, sharpen it off into a truncated nose-cone with plasticard, with air intake vents. Make the bike one solid long piece (as opposed to the steering fork being "separate" from the back end), and add two directional thrusters either side of the bike, in front of the marines feet.

Any other ideas?

Sounds good. Post pics as you go please! If you have spare assault jump packs around, I have seen good work with those, and also, check out Killkrazy's thread for tips on the front end Not what you were talking about, but a good job either way.

well, the trouble is I dont have the packs to spare for five bikes, and I'm hesitant to go and drop more cash on the conversion, especially now that games sweatshop has thoroughly decided it will enjoy itself at my wallet's expense. (I have decided to stop buying from them completely. I will update my necron army only, and mmmmmmmaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyybe pick up eldar, but not from GW)

thanks for the link too mate, I've seen it around, but couldnt find it since. Found two other ones though that I had bit of a look at.

I am not sure how I will go about posting the WIP.... I've got two bikes at the moment anyway so I will see how the first one goes and make a WIP off the second one

Yeah, I like the idea of a tube rear as you mentioned, mostly passed on the lik for the front end idea.

His anaconda dont want none unless its got buns, hon. Lol @ "tube rear".

Use GS press molds. Press it into the part of a bike that isnt damaged (brush olive oil on it first), let it dry completely. Peel off the gs, brush it dow with the oil again. Shove more GS into the oily mold, pressing down with a lot of pressure (the more pressure, the better the detail) then take this part out and trim it down to ft over he broken parts of another bike.

Well, here is what I did to the first one.

Turns out htere was a bigger issue than I thought: the entire front portion of the steering column + Tire was missing on the one hull, so it will be this solution across the board.

Progress notes:
-still need to add a second set of wings on the front end of the vehicle, slap on the bolters, and probably a clear windscreen (after everything is painted). I suppose it needs a driver too. I want to do something special with the riders too, but m not quite sure as yet.

I think I may add a few more diddleys, doohickets or thingamabobs along the bottom of the bike just to tech it up.

Any comments or suggestions?

Its looking to boxy in the front imo. The rest of the bike is streamlined. I would like to see more though!

I feel the real advantage is that, thematically, my landspeeders can now pull double duty. If need be, I can field them as attack bikes instead.

Although, the front end looks kinda like an air conditioning unit. I would trim it down is size....a lot.

can we get a close up picture of that model you just finsihed.

I really like it, the boxy look isn't my type, but matches marine's wargear pretty well

Under the couch

It's a good start, but I would shrink the intake box a little.. it's too clunky as is.

Either make it narrower (it doesn't really need to be as wide as the handlebar cowling) or not as tall with chamfered bottom corners.

I've got one more bike to work on at the moment, and another two or three coming in the mail (I think these are chaos bikes, we'lll find out when they get here.

In any case, I'm just a bit concerned about the unity of the whole thing. I also figured that the box was too wide... any other advice?

I thought I might use the dirge caster with a bit of fixing, but it was just a wee too small for me.
