Hey everyone! Some of you already know me from my Alternate Grey Knights color scheme work in the finished models thread. I decided to make a blog of my newest SM chapter. This is an SM model Superman themed chapter. This SM chapter uses several different types of tactica, with each company adopting a style of deployment. This enables the Kandorian Knights of New Krypton the ability to combat any threat faced in their sector. The home planet is New Krypton, and the chapter symbol is the House of El's family crest; the symbol consists of a blue background with a red "S" with yellow behind the "S". The fortress/base is called the Fortress of Solitude, made from an actual Kryptonian Crystal.

Before the planet Krypton was destroyed there was a marvelous city called Kandor; this city hosted some of the brightest individuals Krypton had to offer. During some time before the Great War, and destruction of the planet, the city was bottled into a miniature sized city by the Brain Interactive Construct, or Brainiac, for his own personal amusement.

After the defeat of Brainiac, Kal-El (Superman) found the bottled Kandorian city, and brought it back to Earth (Terra) with him. Because of the effects of the yellow sun on Kryptonians, Superman decided to keep the city in miniature form until he found a planet that they could inhabit, under a red sun. During this time, Superman was able to shrink himself down and enter the bottled city. Kal-El helped with politics, and the advancement of their civilization. Kal-El's family crest became the adopted flag of the kandorians, and Superman became legend.

Superman found a planet fit for the kandorians; then had them delivered and returned them to their normal size. With the Kandorians back to size, and the rebuilding the Kryptonian legacy, they needed to name their new home. They called this home New Kandor, and developed the most advanced civilization in their sector of the universe, and possibly the entire universe.

After 40,000 years of influence of the red sun, and cross breeding with the human population that had achieved space travel, the "yellow sun gene" became irreversibly inactive, and no New Kryptonian possessed Godly powers. Still Hailing Superman's family crest, and his legacy, the Kandorian Knights of New Kandor (KKNK) were born into space marines to continure to banish Greater Phantom Daemons that threaten their universe by sending them back to the Phantom Zone (warp).

The 1st company is a Grey Knight tactica company. They have mimicked the armor of the GK's, and adopted their tactica. The how is not known but to only a select few in the imperium, and the Company Masters. All that matters is that the Kandorian Knights of New Krypton, have successfully created Dreadknights, psycannons, and the iconic GK power and terminator armors. This company specializes in returning phantoms (Daemons to the common imperium man) back to the Phantom Zone (warp). The chapter sends most of its psykers to this company to help combat the phantoms as well. The KKNK 1st Company has Ivory power armor with red shoulder pads, and does not display the chapter symbol on the power armor itself, but has Kryptonian writing on parts of it. This helps to create an illusion of the 1st company never being there when deployed without vehicles, similar to the Grey Knights or past special operatives.


The 2nd company is home to the Space Wolf tactica - more to come
The 3rd company is home to the Blood Angels tactica - more to come
The 4th company uses the orginal Space Marine tactica - more to come
The 5th company specializes in the Dark Angel Fast tactica - more to come

Here is a little tease for you all. I started on my LR, and it is almost finished. I don't have my good camera atm so the cell phone pics have to do. When I get the good camera, and I 100% finish it I will post some more pics.

I'm rarely someone who jumps to conclusions, but I have a feeling that like Superman A LOT.

All kidding aside that is very good work and I look forward to seeing your finished marines.

The murals on that Land Raider is amazing and I'm impressed by the light up Achilles can't wait to see more. Why do I suspect Lex Corp Chaos is in the future?

Yes I love Superman lol. Thank you both for your comments. I am working on the sponsons today, and cleaning up some other parts. Hopeing to start my a rhino tonight sometime.

Superman is the bomb! Heres my Rhino #1 Named Smallville. If anyone has some suggestions for my 2nd rhino and or the stormraven post em up, and I will see about doing it.

Not what I expected, being just red and blue marines, so cool!

A tip on the osl though, especially on the rocket, the source of the glow must always be much brighter than the glow, you have it reversed there and in some other places and it is killing the effect a bit... get that rock fire bright and almost yellow white, at least closer to the rocket, and give it a look then, it will make all the difference!

I suggest checking out nucleolosaur's work as reference -

This is a great idea, I love the fortress of solitude freehand on the LR - have you done any troops in this scheme? Would love to see them if so!

Does anyone know how to make capes out of greenstuff? I need to get this done on my HQ and I don't know where to begin! Step by step if able please!

Thank you, it took me a while to come up with how I wanted to do this. I have not done the scheme colors mentioned in the orginal post because I do not have my bases yet or my shoulder pads, but I have done my GKs that are compatible with this army. I will post them in a couple of days; I want to get fresh pictures not recycled ones.


I am working on the stormraven, and hope to have it done by tomorrow night.

capes out of greenstuff can be made quite easily. if i had a camera i'd show you in photos because im cack with words. best way to explain is to mix some greenstuff, roll it out and flatten it to the desired thickness then cut a square shape out of it (as big as you need it) then gently pinch the top end to create the folds.

WOw. will you do a chaos army that is batman themed. Since they are essentially enemies in the later graphic novels i think it would be appropriate. Maybe model up a terminator armored batman stomping on clark ala Dark Knight, with a Land Raider ala batmobile. Awsome. JK.

That should be enough for me to at least try it out; thank you for the info. What mix of GS do I use? Like more yellow or more blue?

YOur doing a nice job. are you using a airbrush.

I actually thought of doing that next; I am still undecided as I am not as big of a fan lol. I use a mixture of airbrush and brush.

That base is a brilliant diorama in it's own right. I'm hugely impressed with the OSL on the Apothecaries backpack. What's the chances of a phone box or Metropolis themed Rhino?

errrm depends how good you are with GS. im pants, so i go for more yellow because its more plyable (*spelling) for longer, but it takes longer to cure and go solid. more blue does the opposite. remember to wet your fingertips slightly so that you avoid GS sticking to you!

that diorama is excellent! i'm 100% chuffed with your ideas! never seen it done before either

I might have to go with lois lane lol since she is always crashing in them haha, or Krypton...its an Kandorian army fluff wise so either will work. I prob. need to go for more blue so I can get it in shape fast. thank you for the tip on the water idea; I have some gloves also to advoid finger prints. Thank you about the comment on the diorama. I have one day left before my tournament to get this stuff done lol. O yeah I am wanting the superman cape long and flowing in the wind...rectangle it is lol.

I looked into the phone booth idea, and I could not find a tactful way to pull it off. That will take more planning, but it might happen. Metropolis rhino won't happen! Your getting a Stromraven with it on it lol. I am actually done with that side too! Thank you also for your comments about the OSL and the diorama!

Hey everyone! I am sorry I did not get my pics posted the other night. Dakka was not working fo rme fo rsome reason, and I was at the Maul in the Mall at Cleveland TN, GT tournament all day yesterday. I had a great time there. I scored 0 points out of a total of 66. The games were all close, but lost out on the last turn in most of the games. I did score the Best Painted Army award for the Superman Army, and I am really stoked about that. When I took these pics of the storm raven I had not attached it to its base. I will provide a pic for that later on, some pics of the game play, and some new pics of my troops for this army (not the ones described in the OP..those are still coming)

again, the murals are amazing! i like the one with superman in space watching the earth lit up at night. reminds me of the bit in superman returns when he's listening to everyone. also the other side with the sun shining on it is top notch!

also well done on winning the Best Painted Army, if it didn't i'd be surprised. especially as i swear your the only one thats attempted a superman themed army!

Thank you very much. I love the scenes when superman is listening to people, even the times in smallville. Yeah I probably am the only superman army out there, and I am totally stoked about that, and winning the best painted award.

Display board is not 100% done, need to paint the statue in back thats not attached an the space marine symbol still. This is not the display board that I am making for the superman colored army; that is still to come. This board is for the Grey Knight superman army ONLY. I should have some items I am waiting for to begin on the blue themed marines around the beg. of Aug. Also I have begun looking for fortress of solitude parts! I have found some very promising stuff so far!

Here are some shots of the troops in the army for my 1st company. Update...I found 20 legion of the damned troops I was working on a year ago...those are getting a make over soon! My Contemp pattern dreadnought should be here soon also from forge world. Everything is on semi hold till that gets here... Here are some pics though!!
