Something I've been working on in my mind since the fiancé suggested it, and just figured out how to make the tanks/ models.

Tanks are thin slices of sprue left over from making the table.
Models are a small roll of greenstuff cut out and painted.
Table is sprue.

Decided that red vs blue with woodland scenics foliage would make a nice diorama. What do you guys think?
C&C welcome, and if ideas crop up to make it better, I'll try and implement them.
Thanks in advance.

And an overhead shot...

Im thinking I'm going to do this with all of my leftover sprue.
Until I have a entire "game store" full of tables like this.
I'm envisioning a much more ambitious project than I might be able to do, but I want various boards, like lava, ice, desert, cityfight etc. And playing them will be the figs that I trade for from opponent's armies.
Imperial fist marine playing yellow/red cylinders/spruetanks, Orks with a bunch of green "models" etc. The idea being that a whole room of various factions playing their faction in 40k sets me drooling every time I think about it.

And hey, when its all done, the "gamestore" itself will be a terrain piece for MY board.

I've heard of an unwritten rule of modeling - never make your own house. If you want to model it faithfully, you'll have to include a model of the model, which needs a model of the model, leading to all sorts of issues with recursive scaling down blahblahblah.

I'm reminded of the Space Marine (he was definitely blue - either an UM or a librarian of some sort) holding aloft a freshly painted Space Marine. I love this stuff.

Well, never make a model of your own house, in your own house. I think it'd be fine if you made it at, say, a friends house or soemthing.

Got a new table modeled up, this one is a "jungle" theme, where the last one was more of an autumnal woodland.

I've got plans for a lava board and an ice board, but need ideas for how to pull these off efectively in miniature.

I really like the bridge over the river, I made it by squirting superglue into a pile over a paintbrush, then removing the brush once dry.
Oh, and I added a ripper throttling a grot for using weighted dice. The grot is hoping that extra weight will crack the carapace.

I was going to recommend adding some tiny dice to the top diorama until I saw the one with the grot.

This is a slice of fried gold, friend. With awesomesauce for dipping.

Really good idea, but you can make it better!! I'm not familiar with Epic 40k, but would those minis be too large to use on the table?

Far too big.

Doomie, my friend, I can't get on the bandwagon with this one. The ingenuity here is good, the concept is humorous. The execution, however, is not your best work.

If this is just a s**** & giggles piece, disregard my comments.

It doesn't look like they're playing 40k to me. It looks more like they're pushing around kindergarten blocks or playing some sort of alien shuffleboard on a picnic table. Not trying to sound insulting or anything, I am a fan of most of your other work. It's just that I'm reading so many replies here that are praising this as one of the best modeling jobs that has ever been and I simply disagree, I guess. If you were to do some actual detail with the "game pieces" (even a little shaping) and/or make a less "picnic-y" table, this end result would be so much better.

Again, if this is just some goofy fun, I may be being too critical. Apologies as needed.

I do understand why you were looking for teeny dice awhile ago, though!

The pieces are too small to really do anything with... the "tanks" are 2mm slices of trapezoidal sprue. The "models" are even smaller.
Id be hard pressed to paint a smiley face on them. The tables are leftover trash bits that most people throw away.
Its rippers playing 40k... of course its for giggles. This isn't a Golden Demon entry, and that's the best table and model those rippers could make. Cut them some slack.

Yeah. Fair enough. Though it might not sound like it, I was more criticizing the over-the-top fawning of some of these replies. Your nuts must hurt from all those peeps swinging on them. lol.
Although, now that you mention it, teeny smiley faces would be pretty funny.
