Just some pictures I took. I had a lot of fun, I met a bunch of cool players and hobbyists. I wish I had brought a small army to play, but the workshops and big games we're more than enough entertainment in their own.

40k
Big ultramarine!

Awesome siege of a Chaos Fortress.

40k Epic battle.

Awesome Templars

Amazing Dark Angels vs. Tyranids battle.

Great looking city terrain.

Awesome 3-D Spacehulk looking battle vs. Chaos.

8 boxes of Spacehulk!

Gameboard with a real river flowing through it, I spent most of my playing time at this board. I wish I had a better pic of the Chaos symbol.

Great looking Space Wolves.

Awesome Blood Angels and IG vs. Orks.

Sharp looking battle standard.

My favorite piece from Golden Demon.

I loved this dude's Templars.

Great looking Shyshield conversion.

Non-40k Stuff -Sorry for the lack of, I was working with limited space and I'm more of a 40k guy.

I was really confused yesterday when I didn't see anything from GD come up. Very happy to finally see some pictures! I love that jungle board with the real flowing river. What I'd give to play on some of these tables!

You know, over the years at Games Days there have been a fair few tables along this sort of theme... Previously, where the fortress has been something built from scratch, there's been that Wow factor from looking at this awesome detailed terrain and thinking 'Some poor sod put hours into building that'... Somehow, 'Look what you can do when you buy 17 boxes of GW terrain' just doesn't have the same impact.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice and all... and having terrain available to buy is definitely a good thing. But I look at this, and the city table a little further down, and the city is much more impressive as a modelling piece.

Because it may once have been an Imperial fortress.

I'm surprised that Mikhaila's table hasn't been featured yet.

I hope not. It's easily three feet long (one meter) so it certainly exceeds the stated 18" limit. There was another big conversion based on putting buildings on a couple of Baneblade tracks. If either of them won, then GW needs a big slap in the face for not enforcing their own rules - aside from any other reasons people may have.
-Loki- wrote:Really like the Vermin Lord.
That's not a "three up" either. It's easily as big as a Doomwheel, though not quite as thick. Regardless, I want one.

Ninja'd! If you can call reading my mind hours before I even found this thread ninja'ing. That was my first thought too.. "It's very nice and expensive... BUT I'd have found it more inspiring/impressive they had scratch built it instead..." Where all the tables run by GW or were various clubs from across the country running some? I'd be curious to see which was the case with an all-GW official terrain table. Thanks for the pics btw. No cosplay ones though?

He wants the traffic on his blog. Nothing too wrong with that but a couple of teaser pics in the post probably would have been better.

I was unaware of that. Well, then my apologies (GW still needs some face slapping though).

I take it you won?

It's probably just wishful thinking, but the giant Space Hulk game raises my hopes of a re-release - maybe that's what September's purported mystery box will be after all.

Edit: Oh, and many thanks to Movac for the pictures.

Have to agree with you on this. It has a "cleaned out my flgs of all its chaos bastions" look which is less impressive to me than scratch built stuff of lesser quality.

I saw it live and in person...and I felt like when I was a little kid and saw Star Wars for the first time. That plane and all of the details was amazing. I'd love to know how much you spent on different kits to build it!

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

The plane was made with about 25 baneblades, 20 stompas, 4 drop pods, 15 battlewagons, a bunch of trukks, a monolith, and a bunch of random bits. the canopy was made by cutting clear polycarbonate and cutting the rivet strips from the tops of baneblades. Sprue was used inside to make the airframe the way you would build wood model planes. Sprue is great for conversions. the other thing I used for covering the wings was Imperial Guard landing pads!
