He seems rather happy to be an armoured bear (who wouldn't be )

I rather like this, certainly much improved on the previous ramshackle bear release.

You can buy 5 of these bears sans rider for 20 quid or $32 USD. That's ridiculously affordable.

I'm also curious as to the scale. I'm ready to order 2 sets of 5 for a few projects I'm thinking of but am currently holding off until I get a better feel for the scale, especially the rider.

Just have a guess what these power armoured legs fit to
Quite affordable Thunderbear alternative, although personally I would go for the more expensive Scibor alternative.

I like the scribor one but it's $30ish for one instead of $35-40 for 5. Makes a bit of a difference. Your talking nearly 4 times the cost for the same number of models. Granted the other bear only has a single pose

The scale is the same as all the models we do, which is to say its pretty much the same as GW. My buddy immediately when he saw this put a Space Wolf on it, and the body works fine on the legs, so yes it will scale with 40k stuff. Apparently, "28mm" is not a scale, its a measurement. 1/52 is the scale, so I try to avoid using the term "28mm" as it gets some people's goat, and Im not going to say its exactly 1/52, as the characters are a bit exaggerated proportions, so erm, what does one say? Its fits with GW space marines ok?

I was actually torn between making them Rough Riders for my IG or making them Thunderwolves. A feral counts-as Daemon army would be pretty cool too. Either way thanks for answering. I think I'm gonna put in an order this afternoon

Isn't the "correct" term supposed to be "Heroic Scale" or something akin to that?

"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" Mario Savio

Honestly, there are pages and pages on this topic. Herioc Scale means even less, its really a label for models that are a bit deformed(big hands and big heads) and are somewhere is scale between 1/48 and 1/54. Scale is an engineering term, so that you can make correct sized stuff from models and drawings. "Heroic" doesnt denote any information in that sense. As I said, its a label for a convention of size, not really, technically, a scale.

I mean, lets take GW as an example: The cadians are 28mm tall, just about, but have really big heads and hands. However, the catachans are more like 30mm. Notice that GW dont actually give a scale anywhere in their documantation (or not that I can find!).
Then other companies refer to thier models as 28mm scale, but this means 28mm to the eyes, not to the top of the head!

So I always say that our stuff matches GW models and be done with it! Most customers are aware of GW, and some Im sure use Ramshackle Games models to mix with their GW stuff, so its more accurate to say that than to say they are "28mm" scale, which sets off the grognards on a rant!

It's a wonder what few armour plates and various bits can do for your looks.

Really nice, the only downside I see is that there's only one pose, which won't look as good for a whole squad of them.

Hmm, with various manufacturers making 'thunderbeasts' (even GW's forthcoming Ogre 'thundercats'), would a mixed squad of varied thunderbeast-riding marines be out of the question?

Hrm. I didn't like the original non-Cyber Bear because it looked more like a Dire Wolverine or something along those lines. I'm not in love with this model because of the back legs which I still feel are pretty wonky, but the armor does make it look MUCH better than its predecessor.

Honestly my favorite part of the model is the Colonel Custer-type rocket dude on top. I really like the bear helmet, too.

If you could just fix the sculpting of the backlegs to be more stumpy and bear-like I'd be all over this thing.
