grats roleplayer on winning that painting challenge on the other warhammer forums. Can't remmember which one at the moment but you know im sure. Either or GRATS

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

My first attempt at some terrain in the middle.

Overall not impressed with the quality of the blastscape peices, but I did my best. Took about 1 hour to do it, not include waiting for primer to dry.

Photos are average quality taken late at night.

I'm going to take them to a professional photography studio once I get a full 1k of models painted, and get some decent army size photos.

You really have some beautiful marines there.

Nice job.

Sicarius is amazing. esp. the NMM on the plasma pistol. NMM really stands out. I've heard blastscape is pretty crummy, but never seen it in person.

They look pretty good but for wreckage they dont seem ah wrecked enough?

Apart from that your marines are really starting to come together. How many points left to paint?

I'm not really 'into' terrain making, not to the level of my minatures.

if I spent ages making the terrain look like my ravens, I might have a table and the marines finished by 2020

So my terrain is just tabletop quality. It look more than good enough on the table

The idea is also it the wreckage came down like, 500-1000 years ago, so has been weathered and hence all the vegetation growing over it again. Its not a 'new crash' site,

Well even if it is just 'tabletop' quality its pretty good.

And i imagine it'll look more then good enough on a table, especially with those Blood Ravens around

Cheers

I intend to spend a long time on my fortress of redemption, but I also wanted some just throw in my bag and take with my terrain.

Average quality photos taken late at night, sorry. I'll take some better photos tomorrow, but these will do for now!

"Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The immortal emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His warmachines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win"

I also still need to highlight the black, looking at it now. Will do that tomorrow.

love the detail on that predator.

only thing would be if your trying to be a perfectionist with these models you might wanna look at some sort of better technique for applying transfers. It might just be the camera but you can see the outlines on the transfer clearly on the front and partially on the rear hatch.

but hey, your painting is so spectacular that no one is really gonna care

I tried to speed up for this one, as I still have
1 predator, 1 land raider, 4 rhinos, 1 vidicator, 1 whirlwind, a land speeder storm, and a venerable dreadnaught still to paint, for vehicles, so I wanted to speed it up, and hence a some attention to detail and blending smoothness was lost, but a nessecary evil.
Painting time was about 15-18 hours. Took me 1 week of every night painting session of a few hours.

Its less noticble in person but I am still going to take your advice and look at a better way to apply decals, thanks!

no worries, i would suggest some but im terrible at transfers to lol

the only way you usually spot transfer mistakes is when you shine a light directly on it so unless people wander up to your tank with a torch you should be alright

Your transfers really do not look bad. You could, however, look for some decal softeners/fixers. Im not too sure of what is available in your part of the world, but try looking for Micro Industries' Micro-set and Micro-sol. That would certainely be a good product to go for, but there's certainely many more types out there to go for.

I've been following this post since it began and I thought I should add in some more nice comments.
I think that your colours are just amazingly crisp and clean and I don't know how you manage to get those highlights so good.

Keep up the good work.

Gotta say Roleplayer, I love the style that you paint your marines with. Really makes for a coherant looking force.

I also love all those extra purity seals. After re-reading Horus Rising, I was thinking of adding a lot more to the marines I have.

BTW nice job with the blastscape pieces. I agree with you, I was not overly impressed with them, but you have done a good job there.

I tried to convert/re-model some of mine and they look better, but I suppose the painted versions will be the real tell.

Awesome paint job. Is it me or is a tactical seargent lower than lord of the hunt or commander of the vanguard.
