Way back in April, I had this amazing idea. To bring to life the most revered and favored of all the chapters in the Imperium. The Chimp Fists.

It all started with a simple logo design.



This idea was shared with my brother, Astroman , who lives several states away, and the two of us began our initial conceptual ideas and decided on what minis could be used to bring this idea to life. Honestly, for how humorous this is, a lot of thought went into it. There are several details to look out for, like bananas, purity seals that are applied with the poo of their battle brothers and servo-monkeys, and some of the best free hand my brother or I have produced. So, what initially began as "You do a mini and I'll do a mini" came and went and we became stuck on ideas for bases. During this time we decided that a third Chimp Fist, an Apothecary, would also be necessary. So the first two minis, were painted by Astroman and the terminator Captain was painted by me. Hence, why we couldn't get a pic with all three of them together.

Many had commented on the fact that Captain Tonga didn't really have much weaponry, despite his Power Fist and Banana Bombs. Now, I personally don't think that a power armored Gorilla needs much more than a Power Fists, but just incase, Astroman built up this Imperial Servo-Monkey to carry Tongas Thunder Hammer around.




Since, Orangotango and Apothecary Zaeus are both in Astroman's possession, this is the closest I could get to a group shot. Hope it will suffice.

The banner's missing a big golden banana for me though...

To address a few questions:

Orangotango is converted from a Reaper mini with the same name. He has a weapon swap for the bolter and the banner top was added to the pole he was swinging on. Tonga's head comes from another reaper mini, named Tonga. It took 4 hacksaw blades to saw that head off.
Zaius's head is the Jokearo from GW.

As to why Chimp Fists? Well simply put, it's the easiest. I think at least, most people on this site, know that Imp Fist is another way of saying Imperial Fists and Chimp Fists just seemed to work best with that. Don't assume the two of us just went with the first thought. We considered many different takes on existing chapters names, but Chimp Fists just seemed to be less of a stretch than some of the other alternatives.

In all honesty, don't expect to see more Chimp Fists from Astroman or myself, though. It's very hard to find monkey/ape heads that will fit into the scale of any power armor. We have toyed with the idea of some sort of Chimpnaught, but again, the execution is less practical than the idea. By all means, if someone finds us an ape head that would work, we'd consider adding. But, we do not plan on making any kind of battle force, which admittedley, is a shame.
On the other hand, by all means, feel free to post your own take on the Chimp Fists here or anywhere, we'd be more than happy to check them out.
