Hello Dakka!
On the recent bank holiday, me and 8 of my mates got together to play an ambitious 4-way
Apoc game that we had been planning for a good 3 months. There was a lot of build up to this, including me building a Warlord and one of the Ork generals building a Gargant! (You can see my build-up to the
Apoc in this thread
The Ecclectic Imperium - AdMech feat. Raven Guard and Elysians)
There were 4 teams, each comprising 13k points:
- The Imperium (2 players including me).... Walord Titan, Baneblade, Tank Company, 3k Black Templars Spearhead, Navy Force [Lightning, 2 Valks, Vendetta, StormRaven]
- The Orks (2 players).... Gargant, 2 Stompas, Kill Bursta, 2 Skullhammas, Fighta
- The Chaos (2 players).... Greater Brass Scorpion, Warhound Titan, 2 Shadowswords, 2 Baneblades, 3k Daemons, Hell Blade
- The Eldar (3 players).... Revenant Titan, 2 Cobras, Haemonculus Construct (counts-as Stompa), 2 Void Dragon Phoenixes, 3 Razorwing Fighters
Each team had special home objective rules. The Imperial shrine granted all Imperial units with
LOS to it a 3+ cover save vs blast templates. The Eldar had a webway portal that could redeploy anything that entered it, should they control the Fort above. The Chaos had a moveable Idol of Corruption that could control 1 enemy unit per turn (-Superheavies). The Orks had a Kan Factory that could recycle destroyed Kans, Dreads and Mega-Dreads. Eac of these special rules only worked when they were controlled by the owning team.
With all of the description out of the way, i can show the pics! I kind of stopped taking them halfway through the second day so i apologise!
The table!
The Imperial Deployment, the Warlord takes a prime firing position.
The Eldar deploy, many in the Fort at the top of the city, with others ready to enter the Webway Turn 1.
The Chaos deploy.
A Stompa readies for an assault on the Chaos.
The Gargant powers up.
A Big Mek watches from the Kan Factory objective, as the Gargant sights the Chaos Warhound.
Warbikers led by Wazdakka Gutsmek rev up and dash around the cliff, as Ork forces high above ready to cross the bridge.
The battle from a Chaos perspective. The Haemonculus Construct about to cross the bridge to oppose the Orks seems insignificant from such a distance.
The Orks continue to pour forces towards the bridge.
Turn 1 begins with the Chaos taking a pounding. When the smoke clears 2 tanks, the Warhound and a baneblade are nought but smoking ruins.
Plaguebearers appear in a futile attempt to dislodge the Eldar. Though tough, the amount of firepower in the Fort explodes the Plaguebearers in a shower of pus.
The Brass Scorpion scuttles frighteningly quickly towards the nearby Stompa.....
And with a swipe of its mighty claws, it explodes the Orky construction! Khorne is pleased!
The Gargant advances.
The Orks cross the bridge in force!
Dark Eldar appear from the Webway, but are pounced upon and ripped asunder by nearby Nobz.
Wraithguard emerging from the Webway meet an equally brutal end at the hands of yet more Nobz.
With screeching turbines the Imperial Navy arrive and take aim at the Chaos forces.
Vanguard Veterans of the Raven Guard Chapter swoop in, and take a heavy toll on the devotees of Tzeentch before pouncing on the unguarded Idol of Corruption.
A Storm Raven drops off a Deathwatch Kill-Team at the foot of an Ork Warboss. The two sides smash each other to pieces.
An ominous rumbling emits from the Kan Factory, yet the gates remain closed.
Eldar tanks glide forward, blasting chunks out of the Tank Company's rear.
The Gargant belches out thunderous volleys of destruction each turn at those entrenched in the Imperial Shrine, but the Relic of
St. Davin provides ample protection, ensuring only a few brave souls die with each shot.
The Eldar interceptors take on the Imperial Navy, and come off far better.
An Ork Kommando mob assaults the Shrine of
St. Davin, but quickly regret it as a Baneblade pulverises the entire mob.
A Coterie of Chaos Champions assault the Warlord Titan, infecting it with Parasite Daemons. Against all odds, the Chaos corrupt the Titan in one phase! The untouched Imperial Titan Succumbs to the will of Tzeentch and turns its guns on the Shrine defenders!
The Haemonculus Construct slithers into the Kill-Bursta. Unfortunately it flails to little avail and is blasted into slag in short order. Unluckily for the Orks however, the smoking wreckage blocks access to the Fort!
Carnage reigns supreme!
Unfortunately thats where i stopped taking pictures, meaning there was a turn i missed out, the last one
After being corrupted the Warlord was turned to slag by 20 fire dragons, as well as every Imperial gun by its feet! It went Apocalyptic, taking with it swathes of the attacking Chaos and Eldar forces, yet leaving very few Imperial units harmed. Perhaps the last vestiges of loyal machine-spirit saved the followers of the Emperor!
And with that the game was pretty much wrapped up.
Heres how the objectives broke down:
At the Idol of Corruption objective the Vanguard were blasted off last minute by some Webway Warp Spider shenanigans!
A unit of meganobz managed to hold the Kan Factory objective, with little reaching them due to the mass of Orks in the way!
The Eldar held the Fort objective for the whole game, with one unit of Plaguebearers and Zagstrucks mob the only non Eldar feet that touched the highest ground on the city.
The Shrine of
St. Davin objective was contested, the Imperials had all been blasted off by 5 turns of Gargant fire, and Chaos and Eldar remained in a stalemate at the end of Turn 5.
That combined with personal objectives meant the score was:
Eldar - 5 points(Killed Typhus [2], Achieved aerial supremacy [2], held the Fort [1], held the Idol of Corruption [1], lost 1 personal representative [-1], failed to capture 100 slaves [0])
Orks - 3 points (Stole a Defiler to experiment on [2], held the Kan Factory [1], failed to kill 2500pts of Imperials with the Gargant [0], failed to kill the Revenant Titan [0])
Chaos - 2 points (Corrupted the Warlord [4], lost 2 personal representatives [-2], no table objectives [0], failed to get Typhus into the Webway [0])
Imperium - 1 point (Destroyed the Warhound [2], lost 1 personal representative [-1], no table ojectives [0], failed to capture an eldar
hq choice [0], failed to kill the Gargant [0])
So it was...
ELDAR VICTORY!!!
