Hey there, I'm new to these forums. I have been building an Ork 40k army for a while now. I don't really know how to play 40k but I just enjoy collecting and building Orks and painting them in the little spare time I have. How long have you been painting?

I see some techniques that are extremely advanced. Specifically the OSL on Snikrot's goggles.

My only critique is the bases. They look too clean for da 'neaky gits.

Nice work Stonecold. The muted blues of the armor work well with the muted greens of the skin, and the red lenses and OSL really punctuate the figures nicely.

Hey thanks for the replies, sorry for sounding like a newbie but what does OSL stand for ?

Yeah my bases are abit sparce of detail mainly because I'm lazy haha, that and trying to paint too much Orks at a time.

I have a Stompa sitting on my drawers unpainted it really does look like a daunting task when I look at how much of it there is to paint haha!

OSL stands for Object Source Lighting. Basically its the glow effect from light sources, i.e. there is a bit of a pinkish glow in Snikrot's hand from his goggles. Gives some realism...

A sepia wash, or perhaps diluted 75/25 with water, would probably help the bases out a lot without adding much work at all. You should 'speriment.

Those models really are amazing. It's not very often that you can look at a model and honestly think it could be full-sized. You've pulled that off perfectly.

I agree. Your painting is excellent, and now it's time to practice your basing.

Wow, really nice use of muted colors and the OSL on/from his goggles looks ace!

Though I think he could use some highlights on the stitches in his pants and I second the opinion on his base needing some love. Might I suggest some devlan messiah over the sand and some lighter drybrushin and top off with some grass tufts? A classic Ork base.

Wow, Snikrot is one of my favorite models in this line, you've painted him masterfully. The deff kopta is pretty gnarly as well. Thanks for the inspiration.
