So what points level is both satisfying and common for people looking
to play pickup games of Warhammer Fantasy 8th?

I consider 2500 to be a "full" size game.

Cool.
I bought some fatties today. I'm going to build for two different
lists, and I wanted a points target.

Yeah, I think that 2500 is the level most people play, what with the new/old 25% lord restriction, people really want to be able to use their upgraded lords.

Yeah at 2500 you get 625 for your lords, which lets you take a lv4 and a "prince" or a dragon/ mad slann what have you.
I haven't gotten a look at the new ogres list yet so I'd be interested in seeing your lists when they are done.
Generally for my group I do all the list writing across the board, and I only really write 1000 and 2500 lists.

2500 usual for my store, we stay away from grand armies. Recently, I've played a few games of 2750 that the store owner promotes, and I've really enjoyed the extra points.

Grand army just lets people cheese too much hence just short of 3k is crazy fun since there is a lot on the table but its not like oh I have 6 cannons and 6 mortars and 4 steam tanks or 6 HPA or 4 hydras.

Our local store tourneys are 2250. The big tourneys I drive to are 2000-2400 in size. The next one I am going to is 2200 with 300 points core allies allowed.(I'm painting 50 GW marauders to assist my daemons)

Yeah, 2-2.5k for Fantasy, because of the % system.
This is also why 40k is usually played at a lower points level, because you're not working to percentage system.
