Ok, so I am thinking of starting Fantasy for Chrismas, and am going to pick Daemons, becuase I am going to start a 40k daemon army, and get the battleforce. So, with the new Storm of Magic fever going around, I figure I will be platying SoM a lot. I love the Zombie Dragon model, and I was just wondering if it was a monster you could summon in SoM. If it isn't, I will just go straight to Vampires.

Well they got a ton of Dragons, but no zombie. You could always use it as a Counts As.

Oh. Well then, I guess it is off to DE. Ignore the above. I already have 4 cold one knights, and I like Dragons, so why not?

Still yet to meet anyone in person who plays SoM it was a total non event in my area.

I don't think it sold well. I mean they took the arguably most broken part of 8th, magic, and made a whole mini-game out of it. Oh, and added even more broken-ized spells.

Meh that was my general view of it. about the only good thing to come from it was introducing the idea that any army can take some monsters like the old 4th/5th ed lists. If you're just getting into fantasy though perhaps leave getting the dragon till a bit later as it will need to be fielded in a bigger sized game unless you are one of the lucky ones who can buy a full army at once

No, but then again, I almost always field overpriced HQs, and mega models. My Nids army is led by a Tyrant who costs 385pts on his own.


My area went nuts for SoM, and we even had our own campaign, though obviously I didn't play.


Though, I am now thinking about a Daemons army with a Dragon of somekind. I am going to use it as an Emperor Dragon where I can. I think the High Elf dragon would suffice.

But then you have the temptation to model it as a chaos dragon to fit the army, then a little more modelling to fit your daemons too

I model with gaming in mind. So, no Chaos Dragon. I will be using a DE Black Dragon for that.


However, the Daemonic Dragon idea intrigues me. I will keep that in mind.

Doesn't work in exactly the same way in Fantasy. For example, you can't have a 350 point Lord (the equivalent of HQ) in a 1000 point army.

the Storm of Magic rulebook was horribly thought out
For the Lore of the Wild, there is a spell that destroys all buildings on the table on a 2+, Games Workshop made Fulcrums Count As buildings, on a 2+ you destroy a fulcrum, as there are only 4 you can reliably destroy every single one of them in one to two turns.
Although the novelty of running a Candy Mountain army hasn't worn off yet.

Fulcrums can't be destroyed unless the spell specifically says that it can destroy fulcrums. The Lore of the Wild spell does not destroy fulcrums.

Also, SoM got played a lot in my area at first, but it seems to be petering out...I like it, though.
