Hey guys finally decided to join dakka after 2years of using the website haha
so yeah i've pretty much made a samurai guardsman, Still a wip like but y'know.. Hope you like it

Looks nice so far. It's a bit hard to see in raw GS form. Can't wait to see some paint on it though.

Paint it up and post some more pictures dude! it's a great looking GS job, but the picture i think makes it look a little fuzzy and out of focus.

first off, well done. Totemo Ii deshou! [very good!]

The katana/wakizashi/whatever weapon he's holding needs to have a less sharp tip, as in, less steep. It is almost flat-headed, you must make the blade tip slightly more 'rounded'.. Otherwise, looks great! Good luck doing a whole squad of them though, would take forever with all that GS.

You may even win a local comp with that model when you are done

Really nice body armour, would make great counts-as carapace armour. The sword doesn't look right to me though.

As MikZor says, the hard part will be making more matching models - unless your army fluff can involve soldiers in individual hand-made armour perhaps?

The armour looks great. I hope the paintjob will turn out just as good, or better!

this was just gonna be a one off haha and possibly make a few squads

I think a samurai theme is long overdue and I think it will be worth fleshing out.

If I may comment. Your skill with green stuff is odviously rather good so why not sculpt three or four varient torso and legs then make a mould and cast them? if they're your own work there's no law against casting. A warning though if your going down that route then do not utilise any GW pieces make it from scratch.

Yeah im thinking of doing various poses for the squad members, Ive no idea how to go about casting things though and i used the cadian models as a base to start on

well take some measurements from your cadian and make a paperclip wire armiture build your greenstuff up ontop of that. There are some good tutorials on here for casting or you may want to check out the video's on www.tiranti.co.uk they also sell everything you'd ever need in the way of sculpting, casting and odds and sods.

I like this very much, would however love to see kimono pants and also true katanas for swords (think Reaper minis has katanas).

Nice work. Can i suggest lengthening the sword hilt above the fist? Think that would reinforce the samarai look

not had time to post any pictures due to a hectic week at work haha il try and get some up soon!

New pics of finished samurai ( added longer hilt to blade, Added neck guards and tidied up the model a bit) and new one ive started on!

Yes yes, sword hilt looks good! And glad to see you've pressed on with making more. Can i suggest doing one with a two handed sword grip over his head? That would be cool. Also wondering if you are gonna arm them with some more 40k equipment e.g laspistols, comms? I reckon you could get some good inspiration from mutant chronicles - Mishima. I used to love the cyber samurai vibe (including an image of an awesome jetbike - jap style)

Anyway, sorry for trying to hijack your plans. Keep up the good work. You've inspired me to get some GS out tonight.
