Dakka had a lot of "crassus" going on, but I got me a Praetor instead.

Seems its one of the minimum parts for a nicely sized vehicle kits. 29 components, right less than 30 pieces to glue
The major parts of it:

Rapid assembling here i come

Aces. I think this model looks great. Looking forward to seeing your take on it.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Awesome, my only question is what are those two parts towards the bottom right? They look like HK Missile racks, but they don't seem to be anywhere on the FW model.

If you're going to make one, you have to put your title in all capitol letters.

Anyway, good luck my friend. I hope you can manage to assemble the mighty tank!

Spare ammo. Stored inside beneath the launcher so maybe the pics at FW don't show them.

@Chowderhead: And no, I am not going to use "shift-lock" on the keyboard.

But the model is fitting nicely so far. Need a good painting strategy , at this speed it may be assembled pretty much shortly after taking out of the box.

Gathering the Informations.

Yeah, the Praetor and Crassus are fairly easygoing kits.

It's kind of surprising, all things considered, that it takes more effort to assemble a Baneblade than this monstrosity.

Put the hull together and noticed I should paint some parts..
so colored the interior first. Just a few greys and the occasional metal. Haven't much time spent, as you can't see most of this when the launcher is mounted.

Prepared more pieces but I think the next step are the painting the tracks.

Took the chassis and added the cockpit, front HB's and mid section.

chassis:

with both front parts :

If I do the tracks next, I can go for the launcher which needs a bit of focus as it is the major moving piece of this kit.
Then its easy, the few add-ons like barrels, antennae, etc will not slow me down.

looks Great!
Are you going to make the launcher removable?

germany,bavaria

Why should it be removable?

I am fine with my new heavy missile launcher as is.

If it hadn't that price tag, I 'd get a battery of them.

1) easy to assemble.
2) fits the IG design without being too cartoonish/ pseudo WWI.
3) lots of missiles FTW. ( additionally to lots of grenades FTw, of course ).

It doesnt really matter, either way it is cool, but you could see the interior if it was removable. Also you could make it into an open topped Crassus

The mechanic of the launcher does interfere with removability...

To show what you can see after the mount:

( a shot taken in "night mode", to compensate for the darkness inside )

May save some time and effort just to paint the interior quickly. I'll keep the additional ammo outside too.

The mounted launcher really completes it. Has 2 positions, but a careful positioning before glueing it will show any small bends the kit suffered could cause trouble moving it up/down. Had just one piece with such imperfection and naturally it broke, when it should not.

fixed it and I hope its looking like battle damage when painted.

Can you see it?

The 2 sets of ammo are swappable. Don't sit too lose, so probably I don't need magnets.
The exhaust and barrels are all that is left, but I think I should find some spare equipment bitz for these flat surfaces.
Could paint them and / or apply decals.
The lack of antennae feels wrong somehow, so these have to have a place on this P.A.A.L
( now, if FW just called it PAL...)

The ammo:

Off to fill gaps, find some bitz to add and start painting it.

This is looking good. Your interior I like -shame you wont see it. I assume you'll do more work on the pistons? Some brown ink or even burnt umber oil paint to make them look greased would work.

agreed, If you wanted to make it really insanely overboardly cool you could add in a red LED or two to make the interior glow

@monkeyh:

Just primed and main colors yet, I'll improve it as suggested.

@Capitansolstice:

LED's are a good idea. I think its completed too far to go back to implement LED, a battery and hide all that.
I've seen impressive applications of LED in a smaller scale ( 1:87 ) than tabletop 28mm.
Never done myself..

The Praetor itself is maybe "lightened" when its missiles are on their way to the heretic, mutant and xeno. The bay beneath the launcher
would have its lights on when it is closed IMO. A better choice is the Crassus for that sort of upgrade.
Transports benefit from this. Artillery pieces may stay in the dark because light is a sure way to spoil your position.

Is the Launcher Hollow?
If it is you could stick a battery inside of it, drill a small hole on the bottom and have a blinking LED for when it raises to fire

What you see in the pic of the parts is a collection of solid resin. The launcher isn't hollow.
The whole vehicle is like a brick. In size and weigth. Would advise to duck and evade if someone throws it...

Aaaargh! The 'C' word has been mentioned already and we're not even out of September! (I'll begin a list immediately!)

Eye of Terra.

That looks great.

I can't bring myself to purchase the Praetor after just getting the CRASSUS ARMORED TRANSPORT.

BTW, it appears you have a copy of Heldenklingen stuffed in a drawer. This is exactly where mine ended up...

They start selling x-mas stuff already ( cookies/biscuit?, gingerbread? ) here, so You can't forget it is coming in a few months..
Still in the 'has no list until december' camp.

Thanks.
Your Crassus was delivered without ASSAULT ? just a CAT ? Mine arrived as a P.A.A.L. Anybody know why it isn't a PAL ?
Should try this: Hey family , I wantz a CAT for X-mas .

And yes it is Heldenklingen. Not stuffed, actually reading it. Beneath, there lies real literature....GW 40k codices..

Because an UNarmored assault vehicle will quickly cease to exist..
And it's only your PAL if you're not looking down its launch tubes.
