Hi mates. Here is my second conversion project (My first is here in case anyone's interested). Still in progress but a little something to share with fellow modders.

This two are somewhat uncommon conversions for several reasons: First of all the base models aren't from warhammer universe. And second - they are from World of Warcraft universe. A pair of Night Elfs in particular, from WoW tabletop game set.

I can't tell for sure what made me start this - I had no intensions - it was a calling and just felt like a right thing to do. Your comments will help to determine was my intuition right about it or not.

As for their role and purpose - I plan the female as a bladedancer henchemen for my friend's inquisitor's retinue and male is going to be the first operative of my fan-fictional organization i've created as a mainframe to wrap my modeling fantasies around - the Synapse Syndicate. The Logos he's bearing are of this one.

Here are some pictures of original miniatures for you to know what I had to work with.
This is how they supposed to look according to the official site:

And this is how they realy was:

People often compare this two settings and especially their visual style. I was among them, you know, but since I've gone this far with this conversions I won't do it again easily. It took too much effort to make them look like something warhammer already and they are not even half done yet - hell of a difference for something so frequently considered similar, I tell you.

This is what I made of them:

As you can see there is a lot to do. Right now I'm searching for patterns to make boots for male and armguard for female's left hand and would welcome any help.

As I've said - this is only a second project for me and everything I do is a challenge . I advise you to try it for your self, it may be frustrating at first but then it's just fun .

Man, I have all the little Warcraft board game figures too and I never had any idea what I should have done with them. After seeing this, I think I will get on home and get to wasting some green stuff on making some elves and orcs into eldar and orks!

Looks good so far, by the by. I have to say that I find the armored bit over the already-armored bosom of the warrioress a little strange, although I suppose that will be smoothed out and become 'breasty' later.

How do you get it so flat and thin? And it's so smooth...my stuff sticks to my tool and pulls and then deforms and then looks like crap a$$ so I just get frustrated:(

How close are the warcraft figurines to the scale our 28mm "heroic"? Any chance we could get a side by side shot with a 40k mini?

The night elf female is about as tall as an eldar Dire Avenger, plume and all. The human figures are clearly smaller than Imperial Guardsmen / Space Marines, and dwarves and gnomes are much too small to be of any use (except for Squats maybe?) I can put up a size comparison of some of the unmodified figures if need be.

Her original armor is merely an underlay by 40k standards, so i decided to shape a Battle Sister style vest to give her a more battle hardened appearence. I will try to add some ornament on it but I'm not sure i have the skills

Fairly close actually. As you can see I used some GW parts on them: female's shins are from DE Wych and they fit perfectly proportional. Male's right hand is of SM and i made his gun from a standard issue melta. I will, however, add some photos with GW models to compare when they'll be closer to completion =)

Here are some tips from my personal experience (however small it is) :
- I coat my fingers and tools with a bit of Vaselinum (don't know if this word is used in English but this is a grease-like gel substance)
- When mixing GS I add more yellow component than blue cause GS then dries faster, is less sticky and more easy to work with
- Before sculpting let the GS lie and dry for around 20 minutes. In this condition it is easier to predict and control how it will deform
- My tools are a medium sized sewing needle and a small pincette
- When you need to move one of the edges of what you are sculpting start applying force from the center of the shape with something relatively blunt thus it will deform more evenly and won't tear apart
- When you're happy with overroll form start smoothing the surface by gently stroking it with something flat (the back side of pincers in my case) in one direction, then check the shape, push back the edges if needed and stroke again in another direction. Keep doing it till you're fine with the result.
- You may try polishing GS with micro-grain sandpaper but be cautious if your GS is done by thin layers - sandpaper may tear them apart.
Hope this helps

I've done some work on them and here it is:

- Improved his boots a bit and added studs to the hip belts

- Remade right shoulder (this is the fourth variant =/)
- Gave some love to her hands and weapon

Looking forward for you comments and I ran out of ideas for males boots (damn they be!)

Yes, I usually do. It gives more time for sculpting and the overall process is easier for me. But It depends on the goals. Thank you for your comments
