Today I was able to FINALLY get a few games in here in Florida at the local TBS Comics here in Fort Walton Beach. Its my last chance to play until November, so I was trying to make the best of it! I got in two games today; Heres the lists.

Mission: Kill Points
Deployment: Spearhead (Table Quarters)

I win the roll to go first and let him have it after finding out his Terminators can infiltrate with shrike, he has pods, and scout bikers. I would be in a very bad position no matter where I deploy; having threats immediately in front of me. I cannot afford to get pinned into a corner as well, being spearhead and all. So I chose to hand it over.

His deployment was simple; the TFC was in his ruins, both rhinos in cover. He infiltrates the terminators deep into some woods, the bikers infiltrate toward the middle. Khans in the pod with his 10 man squad w/ MM/melta. I don't try and seize.

Raven Guard Turn 1
He shuffles around, popping smoke on his rhino. His two dread pods come in and land on target; he basically creates a large perimeter plugging the passageways between terrain with his pods. Terminators are in the woods on one end, on the other end some hills, and his rhinos/TFC in the back. Hes pretty well spread. His bikers turbo toward my table edge.

Dark Eldar Turn 1
I do a little dance

Raven Guard Turn 2
His pod comes on and drops in the middle off his beaCON. His stuff spreads even more, trying to create a huge threat bubble where he can react. His razor pops smoke.

Dark Eldar Turn 2
Finally I can do something! I roll reserves and get... all 3 ravagers, the dukes pimp ride, 3 squads of wyches. Very nice! This gives me a lot of options and firepower to throw around.

I deploy all 3 ravagers on my left behind a hill they can see over; they have a good pick of pods, dreads, and bikers to shoot at. The dukes ride moves on 6" and pivots; I'm barely within 12" of his termis, but I don't want to get charged if I can avoid it. 2 raiders come in on my right, aiming to try and stun his transports, while my last raider flats out trying to gun for his cannon.

In the shooting phase the Barons dudes lay down an amazing amount of fire; I'm loving this 3+ to hit with rerolls and 3+ to wound! I throw down an astounding 14 normal saves and 1 blast pistol wound on his termis; he rolls saves... and 4 die! The last one hoofs it (I forgot to mention that shrike had wandered off last turn to join the pods tac squad) 6". My ravagers on my left blast a deathwind off one pod and wreck another. On my right my raiders get lucky, wrecking the razorback and stunning the rhino!

Dark Eldar 2 KP - Raven Guard 0 KP

Raven Guard Turn 3
Having come in from all angles and doing quite a bit of damage to his forces, my opponent had a lot of decisions to make. His scout bikers were in his backfield, at least 2 turns from joining the fray. He had lost all his mobility, as well as most of his hammer unit. And he wasn't in a position to dictate my movements or to cripple a lot of my stuff. With that said, both Khans group, his lone termi, and his ironclad hoof it (very short) through the forest toward the Dukes bitchin ride. He disembarks his stunned rhino crew, hoofing it toward my raiders on my right. His MM dread moves to threaten the dukes ride as well. His bikers boost off behind some terrain. Shrike goes and hides in some cover, not wanting to join the festivities (don't ask me why)

Shooting: His MM dread, Khans group, and his ironclad all fire and manage... to immobilized and wep destroy the dukes ride. Woot! His other shooting also fails to do anything.

In a last ditch effort he charges 15 marines into my turbo'd raider and manages to wreck it!

Dark Eldar 2 KP - Raven Guard 1 KP

Dark Eldar Turn 3
From reserves I get one venom and my last raider. The venom comes on 6" so I can shoot my blaster too, the raider comes on 12" and the wyches inside get out into the forest. On my right, the wyches from my wrecked raider move up to assault his 5 man squad, I move up a second raider and my shattershard haemi and squad get out to charge the 10 man squad. On my left, ravagers shuffle for firing positions.

Shooting I manage to kill 1 scout biker, his last terminator, half of Khans marines, blow up his rhino, and pick off shrike. On top of it all, I get a sick shattershard template off, hitting 13 out of 15 marines! I manage to kill the power fist, melta, and 1 random guy from the 10 man, 1 random guy and the power sword from the other squad. I'll take it! I also manage to wreck both remaining pods.

In assault Khans squad loses a couple, I lose a few, and then khans marines hit and run 9" away toward the dukes ride! In my right side assault I annihilate the razor squad and kill the 10 man down to 4 guys.

Dark Eldar 8 KP - Raven Guard 1 KP

Raven Guard Turn 4
He doesn't have much left, but he refuses to give up. His MM dread moves to assault my wyches in cover from the khan fight, His ironclad moves up to blast my venom, and Khan and co move to blast the Dukes ride. His scout bikers turbo some more.

Shooting he........... does nothing. Seriously; I think he might have stunned a raider or something. In assault he loses a few more marines on the right, I lose a few wyches. His ironclad wrecks the venom in CC, Khan and Co. wreck the dukes ride. His other dread charges in and I stick 1 haywire which immobilizes it! I make my save.

Dark Eldar 8 KP - Raven Guard 3 KP

Dark Eldar Turn 4
At this point its just clean up. I surround his ironclad with blaster doom, everything else focuses on the bikers or khans squad, my wyches up top get a 6 for move through cover so can get the TFC this turn.

Shooting I fail to kill any bikers with 9 dark lance shots lol.... I do, however, cremate Khans squad and destroy his ironclad. In assault I charge his TFC... and get mine exploded! Doh! I forgot about those! I lose 3 wyches to the blast. In assault my agonizers out, he kills 1 wych, I fail to hurt him (he made a lot of 2 ups), and we stick. At least the cannon can't shoot tho! In assault I stick more grenades, blowing off the dreads arm and stunning him. He kills a wych I think. The ongoing marine assault on my right finally ends when I charge another squad of wyches in.

Dark Eldar 12 KP - Raven Guard 3 KP

Raven Guard Turn 5/ DE turn 5
At this point its game, but he wants to see how it ends. His scout bikers manage to wreck 1 ravager, I kill his techmarine, and on my T5 I kill the bikers and wreck his last dread for a tabling.

Result
DARK ELDAR VICTORY 15 KP to 4 KP!!!

Aferthoughts: DEFINITELY a unique SM list with a lot of weird tricks... but I had him on the back foot when I got that great reserve roll and a good alpha strike. It pretty much let me dictate where I engaged for the most part and let me reinforce where I needed it most! Great game though, and a lot of fun!

I win the roll to go first and take it, deploying at 12" with basically everything, all raiders on the right, all ravagers on the left, with venoms in the middle. He deploys both rhinos behind cover on both sides, his libby termi squad in his middle ruins, and reserves the GM termi squad and both knights to DS.

He rolls to seize and.... gets it! Off we go!

Grey Knights Turn 1
He pretty much just moves up popping smoke on the rhinos. His termis slog up to the tip of terrain, can't draw a bead on anything, popping sanc and shrouding.

Dark Eldar Turn 1
I shuffle around to get a bead on everything he has. The Dukes ride hides completely behind the middle LOS piece of terrain.

Shooting my entire army pours its dark lances into the rhinos, wrecking both. 24 poisoned shots from the venoms see 1 terminator drop dead.

Dark Eldar 2 KP - Grey Knights 0 KP

Grey Knights Turn 2
He gets in his sword DK, dropping him dead in the middle. His termis slog up a little more, out of terrain. His strikes on my right move into the woods for cover, and his purifiers on my left move up to dominate some tanks.

Shooting he wrecks one ravager on my left with the purifiers, his DK wrecks my wyches in the middles raider wounding 6 in the explosion (yep, hes rolling well). I lose 3 after armor/FNP. His terminators stun one of my venoms. His strikes manage to stun and wep destroy the dukes ride.

Dark Eldar 2 KP - Grey Knights 2 KP

Dark Eldar Turn 2
Well I escaped relatively unscathed, so at this point I'm feeling super confident!

My warriors get out to rapid fire his DK. Both venoms spit out their trueborn and my shaken venom turbos away, the other draws a bead on his purifiers. Both remaining ravagers shuffle for shooting lanes. I move up and disembark some wyches and focus some fire on his strikes.

Shooting I wound his DK with 7 dark lances, and he takes 21 poisoned wounds. He fails 3 invuns, and then proceeds to make 4 invuns in a row, followed by all 21 poisoned wounds... leaving it with 1 wound. You gotta be kidding me! I kill 3 or so strikes on the right, and kill one purifier on my left.

In assault I kill 3 strikes, he kills 2 wyches, and we stick in (he missed my Haemi with his attacks).

Dark Eldar 2 KP - Grey Knights 2 KP

Grey Knights Turn 3
Having escaped most of my damage, I'm in for a good round of hurting. His other DK comes in, dropping and scattering into terrain, taking a wound from DT. His termis continue to move up. His other Dk moves to annihilate my poor warriors. His purifiers move up to pummel my trueborn

Shooting he kills all 3 trueborn from 1 squad, and kills 2 from another (I went to ground and saved 1). His DK unloads killing 5 warriors, his other DK manages to kill 2 or 3 wyches from the disembarked squad.

In assault his DK kills all but 1 warrior, who amazingly stays in combat lol. On my right he manages to fail to kill my haemi again, I kill 2 strikes, and he kills a wych and sticks again.

Dark Eldar 2 KP - Grey Knights 3 KP

I'm hurting in a bad way... I have to deal with his DK in the middle quick with its one wound. I'm still locked with his strikes, and his purifiers are near max strength. And his termis haven't even gotten touched...

I shuffle to fire most of my raider lances at his DK and termis. I move both ravagers and a few other guns to kill purifiers, and get the duke out to charge his purifiers... solo lol. I also aim both venoms at his 3 wound DK.

Shooting I manage to get his DK to 1 wound... and he makes something like 4 invuns in a row and 12 poisoned saves... UGH! his DK's refuse to go down! On my left I pick off 5 purifiers with lance fire, they pass ld. I also pick off 1 or 2 termis from the middle.

In assault I finish off his strikes. In the middle I charge his DK with my 3 remaining wyches (I lost 1 to DT from sanctuary), I wound it 3 times with my agonizer.... he makes ALL 3 5++... F***! It proceeds to kill 2 wyches, causing the last one to run. My lone warrior sticks it out still; hes a brave little toaster! On my left the Duke goes to work killing 2 halbards and his hammer. He swings back and misses everything, but stays locked.

Dark Eldar 3 KP - Grey Knights 4 KP

Grey Knights Turn 4
So hes still basically got his entire army... his last termi squad lands in right next to my venom on my left.

Shooting he doesn't do much, stuns a few vehicles.

Assault he kills my haemi on the bottom, and my last warrior. The Duke kills his last purifier, but he sneaks in 1 wound... 1 wound, and I FAIL my shadowfield save (first friggin roll) and get force weaponed. Motherf***er. This is the worst game of dice I've had in a while LOL!

Dark Eldar 4 KP - Grey Knights 6 KP

Dark Eldar Turn 4
So hes got 2 terminators with his libby left, both DK's, and his newly arrived termis.

Shooting I finish off both DK's and kill a few termis... Not much else. Theres no assaults.

Dark Eldar 6 KP - Grey Knights 6 KP

Grey Knights Turn 5
This is a short turn; he kills off a venom. He does, however, perils on his libby and he dies (he took a poisoned wound earlier)

Dark Eldar 7 KP - Grey Knights 7 KP

Dark Eldar Turn 5
Another short turn, I charge both his termi squads after shooting them. One squad I wipe out, the other (GM squad) rolls well, killing lots of wyches, andrunning them off the table.

At this point he has 2 terminators and his GM left... however, he took out a good chunk of my list. He has no where to get stuck in, so if we go one more turn I have a good chance of tabling him (saves pending). If we don't it ends in a tie....

We roll and he gets a.... 3. Game ends :(

Final Tally:
Dark Eldar 8 KP - Grey Knights 8 KP

Note: The last turn he did manage to kill my Haemi with a force weapon, however, we realized afterward one squad of wyches was I7 due to 2 pain tokens. So i managed to kill the termi before he swung, which turned a loss into a tie lol.

Final Kill Count:

GK kills - 2 Wych Squads, Duke Sliscus, Haemi, Warrior Squad, Venom, Trueborn Squad, 1 raider
DE Kills - 5 termis, 2 rhinos, 10 purifiers, 10 strikes, librarian, both dreadknights

Great game, I learned a lot. And damn those dice! His were soooooooo hot this game

He didn't have a dex handy (I had questions about Shrikes infiltrate and what Khan could do); so I pretty much just went with it lol

Nice reports but you should read up on the GK, Purifiers are Fearless first off, so they don't need to take morale but do take no retreat saves, secondly he can't use shrouding or sanctuary in his turn and the wording is very specific when it is used, if he doesn't cast sanctuary at the start of your assault then he can't later... I see GK players use it like it's an assault trick but that's not how it's worded, he has to cast it before you declare your assaults so you have the option... Shrouding however he can cast at any time during your shooting phase. Also it appears he forgot his grand strategy completely, which is his problem not yours, but really funny...

The Raven Guard player I LOL'd, I have no idea why Khan is in that list, he also played more aggressively then he needed to... I mean, it was KP's why force the issue DE are bad at KP (In theory)... ; )

Solid stuff mate, you played well, my advice to you is to purchase the GK 'dex as it is a very misplayed book from my experience, they have plenty of advantages as it is without playing their rules so casually IMHO, gotta keep 'em honest....

That Shrike Ravenguard list was....interesting. Unfortunately, normal, non-shooty MEQ armies just doesn't do well against DE so a tabling wasn't too unexpected.

However, I was expecting you to do better against a GK army with no psyfleman dreads. Must've been the dice.

In any case, good battle reports.

Yeah; His DK soaking up my entire armies fire and NOT DYING really owned me... it claimed 3 KP's by itself :(

Don't feel bad about the GK battle, IMHO psyfleman dreads are not the thing to be terrified of in that book, I actually think a dread knight is more scary against the DE... Heaven help us when these GK players realize it's the henchmen that are broken in that book LOL!
