Topic. Was wondering what is a good starter army for fantasy?

I play Dark Eldar in 40k, and really like their playstyle, if that helps.

Are there any glass cannon types in fantasy?
If not, what are some good starter armies?

That being said, what are the best battalion deals?

High Elves would be the glass cannon can kill everything but when they get hit back they usually die because their armor is paper but they are fast enough to go ahead of everyone.

Its a good starter army since IOB is a great deal and you have quite some options on army build.

Well, both High and Dark Elves are glass cannons. Wood Elves are a bit of a glass cannon, except without as effective in the department. :/ Not that they can't win, just that they are pretty outdated (for now) so are a bit behind. They DO focus a lot on maneuvering and shooting, like DE, so maybe they are something to look into?

The correct question is, would I be enjoying this hobby if I did this?

The correct audience is you.

WE are not bad I lost a game to WE stupid 30 guys sitting in tower with 4 lvls is just brutal.

The reason I said HE is because they cost more than DE and well so if one of them dies its more points making it more of a glass cannon imo since the HE already hit hard un modified but cant take a hit back.

Thank you all for the good replies.

I've been looking more and more at the Skaven, because they seem to be the Fantasy army that best embodies my favorite part of the Dark Eldar: "fighting dirty".

Sounds fun.

What's a better deal for the beginning Skaven player, IoB or battalion?

I was planning on buying IoB and trying to find someone that would trade their IoB skaven for my High elves.

Are the IoB units useful?

You could field teclis and that would be cheese and dirty at the same time still good way to start IOB is awesome still.

From what I've seen all the skaven are useful yep, the more rats you have the better, especially as slaves
