Well, i must admit this isnt finished, im waiting on green stuff to finish drying on the toes and the arm, (non rail gun), its also missing missle pods on the shoulders which is a problem since i only have access to 3 and i need 6 for the 3 broadsides :( (each shoulder).

Anyway, power plant needs a quick clean with a nail file, (the back part) as well as finishing the paint job on it, any ideas? the feet need to be painted and scupled (but only after the gs has cured enough for free stand), as well as a cable running from the bottom of the power plant to the underside of the rail gun, and to be honest, this is my first conversion and as far as things go i think so far ive done a pretty good job

Before people start moaning at me, i know ive painted before ive finished sticking it together but im physically unable to get around to the important (albiet slightly hidden) parts of the model, while i personally like the current broad side, i still prefer the more anime version as seen in the BRB pg 225 which has inspired this.

(i like anime, i love tau and gaurd and im proud of it, sorry more of a rant at my mates who have already moaned at it, but i love it! )

please C&C welcome remember its my first time, be gental... :$

:edit: - the toes have already been straighened out and fixed so it is currently laying on its back, the right arm isnt attached (the grey one with gs) and any white bits are yet to be painted, i ignored them for now because there either a. metal b. in a rub zone (likely to be smudged).

IMPORTANT! this is simply a broad side o.o no special rules

The arm with the gun attached to it looks...odd. It should actually be a hand holding a trigger, not clunky looking gun arm, in all practicality.

In all other aspects, it looks nice. Keep up the good work.

I guarantee you that I'm not really as smart as the test says:

im working it so that it looks like the hand is slotted into the back of the weapon at least im attempting to as for the other hand im trying to make it look like its adjusting the sight.

as for the second one im going to do it pointing away with its weapon in the air and hopefully the third one looking down the sights but im not sure on what i can do with the third one but thank you i thought i was being ignored D:

Thank you im eventually going to get some resin cast lava bases for the entire army

http://www.darkartstore.darkartminiatures.com/products/Lava-Core-Base-Pack.html

and i undercoated white so when my troops and models do wear on the edges (which they will) it just shows the raw plating underneath and works well as a progessional wear and tear, its also easily patched since ive gone with the K.I.S.S. method

shouldn't the extended toes be in the back to absorb recoil not the front?

Looks good mate, if i may make a suggestion, you should bring the bun back a bit, make him hold it like a space marine holds a heavy bolter, just something that makes it a little less stick far outish heh.

That looks great. The drones on the back help bulk it out nicely. The toes are a bit funny, but a coat of paint will help them blend in I guess. Just remember to stick it to the rear of its base for better balance

it should but i thought with technology greater (generally) of that of the imperium i thought they would have advanced shock aborbers limiting the need for such a big rear digging toe.

ill do that on my second one thank you, i was trying to make it look like it was starting to aim, as for the sticking out bit i tired to pull it in, but the problem was a case of the arm being solid in that 90' angel so it ended up tilted and looking horrific, or the hand not wasnt able to hold it like a HB, i think its to do with more how the metal arm is cast, ill cut it with the next one and see how it goes and try to get the HB look, thank you.

as for the 3 big toes they were for preventing it from tipping, they failed dreadfully and i couldnt weight it without killing the look, then i remembered this didnt really matter since im going to slap it on a lava base anyway which is lucky because 3 of the 4 side toes broke off so i snapped of the 4th and left the middle ones which i think look pretty good and rather chicken like.... mhmm southern fried kroot... WHOOPS I MEAN CHIKEN! Yes... Tastes... Like... Chicken..... om nom nom nom nom.

as for an update, ive finished painting it and gone with hawk in the vents to represent some alien power source glowing as it lets out unwanted heat or so what and so fourth, as well as afew pics of my current tau army

The conversion looks pretty good, but it could look a lot better if you converted the legs to be in a braced stance. I'm not a huge fan of the painting.

aye, im still learning the basics of conversions it was my first after all, and someone im not naming which family member "displaced" my files <.< but thats not an excuse :3 but still, i was after a simple theme to go with a lava base, from which ill highlight onces the bases are finished so it can be adjusted to the light sources

Lava base? I can honestly say that only very advanced painters and modelers can pull off a lava base, which requires sculpting and at least a half dozen layers of blending.

I would not try a lava base. Work on your regular painting. Make a regular base. Normal basing is low effort and makes your model look way better. Sand, heavily paint base color, highlight one, highlight two, static grass, paint the rim.

Lava basing will likely just make your models look bad and take a long time.
