Sorry, I don't have much nice to say about these guys. I see pretty much no shading or highlighting, and as you said the bases aren't pretty. These models look like they're about half done, as all kinds of stuff like power swords are left in the yellow you primed them with. I can see you did a wash or a dip or something, but it's entirely too subtle to really see any shading. Your freehand/taunting text, whether it's with a brush or a fine pen, is well done though.

Try doing something with the bases; just gluing some sand down and drybrushing it once or twice will work. Try doing some more color differentiation too. The bolters being solid black is really boring, as is Mr. Fister's sarcophagus being all red. Try breaking those up witih some Boltgun Metal or what have you to make them more interesting. Keep trying, you've got a good start here but there's some way to go.

SO MUCH ANGRY.

These made me laugh. The name of the Dreadnought's power fist arm and the "Face Here" parts especially.

Wow what did you do to piss them off so much??

@Brother SRM- Nothing to apologize for, I appreciate constructive criticism. These guys were painted on a budget hence the lack of any basing. I'll probably strip them down and repaint them once my painting skills are a bit better. And just FYI the freehand was done with a fine detail brush although a fine pen is a tempting way to do it as well. My friend recently picked up a tau battlesuit and a citadel starter kit, so I will probably "borrow" some of his modeling sand/grass. I am taking my time on all of the minis from my BA battleforce box and will probably do more shading/highlighting on those. I'll have to lurk around and find some good tutorials on that subject. Thanks for the suggestions.

@Thatguy91- All I had to do to piss them off was give them bolters instead of battle wrenches/bats.

Well they could look a lot worse. They are my first minis after all. All that you see there was acquired and painted on a 40 dollar budget. I used to build and paint model tanks about 10 years ago so this was quite the exercise in getting the rust off, not to mention the smaller scale. My modeling supply collection is slowly growing along with my painting skills so you can expect to see some better looking stuff from me in the future. I am currently working on a BA battleforce box and a chaplain in terminator armor. The chaplain is an old metal from 94 that sat around in my friends collection until he gave it to me. Already applied some GS to the crozius to angrify it a bit. Will post pics when I have him done.

Do you have pictures of the tanks you used to do? I'd love to see those.

The yellow lacks depth. Shading via a simple wash over the recesses might help.

They were not anything too special, just primed and spraypainted olive green with some camo brushed on. The only real character to them was that the drivers were usually mangled in the treads.

@Nowlan- I did one wash with some gryphonne sepia but I do need to do some highlighting on my next ones.
