Not sure if this should go here or on army lists, but if it should be on the other one, could someone move it?

OT, atm I have a farseer,
10 Dire Avengers(the exarch has double cata's)
and 3 Jetbikes with one shuricannon.

And I was wondering what I should expand into, bearing in mind that the games in my group are unlikely to go above 1500 and there are no pure mechanized armies, however there is a good mixture of meq,, geq and boyz(beq?), there is also 1 or 2 vehicles or mc's in most armies.

Also, what's better if you can't have two, doom, fortune or guide?

actually before you start expanding figure out what kind of list you want to make and its usually easy to go from there

however i will suggest you get another unit of avengers and equip the exach with dual catapults...these units will pretty much be your bread and butter

going from there id suggest a unit of fire dragons or 2 and a wave serpent per unit so they can have a ride to get around with

then fill out your heavy support...this section has some debate as to which is better. i personally go with 3 fire prisms. while others will say a combo of prisms, falcons, and/or war walkers

now as for your question with the farseer...it really depends on what your gonna stick him with. if its another unit of warlocks then id go with fortune only. but if your gonna stick them with a unit like avengers then both doom and guide would be best, but if only one then id go with doom. also give the farseer both runes of warding and runes of witness for psyker def

New Zealand

You need some actual killing power basically. Avengers can chip away at Marines (if people forget to shoot back they might even get to shoot more than once) and the Jetbikes can run around being annoying, but atm you have nothing which can reliably deal with heavy infantry, vehicles or MCs. The Farseer is fine but needs more stuff around him to support (and support hero with no army doesn't really have much to support).

Vehicles are probably the easiest way to fix this, a Serpent or a Falcon gives you some mobile heavy weapons and a place to keep your scoring units safe. A Prism would give you some long range punch without the transport option, as would War Walkers. The other unit I can't recommend enough are Fire Dragons + a Serpent, as far as Eldar heavy hitters go they are unsurpassed (its just a pity they die so easily).

Not sure if its something you or the guys you play with are interested in at all, but the NZ tournament scene tends to be played at 1750-1850pts (moving more towards 1850 and a couple of 2000pt tournaments popping up next year) which might factor in to your choices.

Which powers you want depends largely on the army you are running, but I would rate Doom and Guide above Fortune. If you can only pick one then Doom is better than Guide, particularly if you have heaps of twin linked weapons (Serpents being the obvious ones), it effectively buffs multiple units rather than just one (since everyone who shoots the Doomed unit gets the re-rolls). If you are running War Walkers or Falcons (BS3 non twin linked weapons) then Guide can edge ahead of Doom. I generally rate Fortune as the worst of the support powers (still much better than the two offensive powers) because it really doesn't help a large amount of the time, Eldar units are so easy to kill that even re-roll can't save them from focused fire. The exception is if you are running something very specialised like a Jetbike Seer Council or a Wraithstar list, in which case Fortune becomes so valuable that its actually a problem (since you almost rely on casting it for your army to function).

For farseer powers I like the guide/doom combo best.
With your opponents and no pure mech lists look into war walkers with scatter lasers as well, really useful unit. For the MC's and camping a hame objective pathfinders are a sound investment.

I'd say get a battleforce (or three).
This will give you a solid base for both foot and mech eldar at a reasonable cost, added killing power, etc and the warwalker is one of the best units in the codex.

My Eldars base is 3 battleforces. Mine is probably primarily going to be foot and I'll likely be buying another 3 on top, as each 3 gives a squad of warwalkers, 3 serpents, 30 gardians (with 3 support platforms) and 15 dire avengers.

Then expand into the firedragons and the such.

Hehe.... I was posting from the opposite end of a similar situation recently. The thread I am linking to (please don't necro) is a list I play quite successfully in a meta that sounds pretty similar to yours. If you feel like trying something a little nonstandard, and if you don't intend to go to heavily meched up tourneys, I cannot recommend it strongly enough. It is a load of fun to play.

That looks a very interesting list to play indeed, you don't find that most people try to handicap your troops by targeting them above all others though? It's the main reason I usually run 5 or 6 troops in footdar

Hmm... I like the idea of the footdar. Maybe have 1 or 2 Jetbike units to capture backfield objectives and otherwise have a footdar list, I'll see if I can borrow a mech eldar army from my flgs and see if I like it. And again, thanks for the continued input!
