Hey,

Been working on a conversion for a warboss on a bike. I have a death skulls theme so been trying to use various parts from several armies. I'm having some issues coming up with handlebar design especially since I need the bars to come back farther so I can mod the warboss's arm to hang on. In addition parts for a dash would be appreciated as well. I have some pics up on a personal blog I've been working on, construction feedback always welcome.

First off, I checked out your blog, and that's a great conversion.

Second, a lot of Dakka user's dont like the click on links (though I personally don't mind); so you'll get more replies if you upload photos to Dakka, and post them in your thread.

Back to the topic at hand, hmmmm . . . I see what you're saying. The larger engine is great but really pushes the boss back from where the handlebars will be. My best suggestion is to scratchbuild a monkey style handlebar, or find a monkey style handlebar bit from another range or cheap motorcycle kit.

Maybe this will help; I recently used brass rod and bits of earbud tube to fix some old sm bikes that had missing handlebars. I just cut and bent the rod to the shape I wanted and then used the plastic tube to detail.

Solid point, A quick side photo, wasn't able to upload the rest from the blog but gives you a general idea. I should probably take one of the control area. I was hoping to include not only handlebars but maybe like the inside rhino door panel the one with the screen as a control gauge?

That's what I'd do. There are so many ridiculously proportioned ape-hanger handlebars out there on custom bikes, you could likely find a real world counterpart to anything you rig up. I wouldn't bother looking for the bit in another range, though. I doubt you'd find the perfect bit and it should be easy enough to bend the bars out of styrene or brass rod, then detail to taste. With the DIY method, YOU are in total control of the shape and position, so you're free to build the arms as you like, then make some handlebars to fit.

ape hangers would look AWSOME! chcek out micro-mark, they have some nice and simple hobby pipe benders to help you out.

Couple things I was hoping to get some input on. First being this guys arm position. Not sure what else I can do to help make it look more natural, any thoughts as to the height of the handlebars? I wish I could place them slightly higher but doing so because of the fork angle would cause me to have to start shaving down his forearm even more than I have. Also I make sort of a custom control panel dashboard thing, I have some touch up work to do but I was sort of thinking of leaving the top portion of it to act like a mini windshield, thoughts?

That greenstuffed arm muscle looks a bit too swollen for my taste (although perhaps not if you're also going to give him a bulky right shoulder pad?), but otherwise the pose looks fine.

Control panel looks great as is.
