I'm just starting a couple of Nurgle characters the first is the sorcerer. Currently he's just been undercoated in green with a general wash to get me started. I also have the pair of FW preachers but I'm hoping to do them something other than green.

I'll update as I go along.

Nurgle isn't exactly new to me, I hope to match the approach to painting this that I did the the Great Unclean One that I painted when I was 16-17. Which it a while ago now. I've put him below to have a pretty picture in my first post...

Can't take credit for the base, I've seen someone else do it online already and thought it looked good. And the lantern from a mordheim figure? Yep, been done...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Okay, bit more to finish for today. Next up I'm doing his skin which covers his head, parts of his stomach and one leg which seems to mutating from the armour itself.

...you call that a hint of corruption? That's like a very good understatement.

Good lord... I thought the GUO looked good - that sorcerer is already incredible!

"He was already dead when I killed him!"

Cheers! I'm mostly done with the armour/skin now so hopefully it will look good with the other parts being painted. The GUO looks good, but is a much larger figure, close ups are not very forgiving so I'm glad you like the sorcerer!

I think there's a greater differentiation between the skin and armour than appears in these pictures, the armour is more green and the skin more flesh. When it's done I'll photograph under more natural light.

The sorc is coming along very nicely. "Original" or not, the base and lantern are also nice touches that work very well..

That would be lovely, but it'll need more skill than I have. I've no real experience at OSL so don't want to start on this figure.

It's pretty much a themed display base, though I'm sure it'd work for friendly games. I'd have no problem playing against it. Or he could just place that base on top of a 40mm round for gaming.

Quick update, I've nearly finished the figure. It doesn't look a lot different to before but details are mostly done. Only a few shrunken heads and the halberd to finish, and then I'm onto the base.

As it happens I have a deadline of this weekend to finish the model as I'm going to enter it at the BMSS show in Bath. Probably won't win anything against the pros that tend to go but it'll support the event.

I've finish the figure not and am sorting out a larger base for the show. I found this strange wood base and home so cut some felt for it and will put some stuff on top for his base to stand in.

Here's the figure, I'll wait for some decent weather and take some natural light shots and pop them in the showcase section. I'm just starting a sentinel powerlifter now.

As an aside, if you want to add another "hint of corruption" try some heavily watered down purple washes. They drastically 'cool' the model down while also adding a hint of that oh so dead feeling to the model.

Haaaaaaaaaaaate.

How was that kit? I'm planning on getting a few to use as scenery/objective pieces.

The Powerlifter?

Dreadful. I bought it about 6 years ago when FW were doing a free xmas shipping offer so I had it £15 post free. But the mould slippage on the claws was beyond... but I just worked with it because that was my expectation of resin.

In general, the casting seems a bit crude. Certainly all the more recent FW purchases have been far better, this seemed a bit rough. I think FW have come a way since making this kit, but it's not like they will retool this, so it's the only one on offer. Apart from the arm you get the large counterweight on the back and a few other cosmetic bits IIRC.

On the other hand, with some imaginative cutting and filling it looks fine and it's very different to most other vehicles. I would like a Valkyrie of course, and all sorts of special scenarios come to mind. The arm has a tight fit with the sentinel and pushes on nicely, so the arm in this pic isn't glued.

Here's the IG Powerlifter finished, it'll be a day or two until I can take pics under natural light. The only modifications are a couple of different parts out the bits box for the driver and some lights which are the sort of thing found in model railway shops. I think these were Roco Minitanks, but they are common enough things to buy.

Originally painted in Bad Moon Yellow, an old pot of paint, one of the tall hexagonal ones with a white lid. I opened it up and it looked brand new. After this I heavily weathered, first with orange wash, then dark brown in the cracks, and a final thin black-brown wash all over.

Onward with other things. The powerloader is finished and better pictures are in the gallery. Also took a pause to do a little conversion of an obscure character from the old RT fluff. Mainly because there's a related thread in the 40K background section, for the lulz.

Anyway for nurgle here's the first preacher on his way.

The pair can be seen here, I'm not sure what colour to do the other one.

I would suggest something like a rotting greenish/yellow colour on the three orbs in his right arm. They look like insense holders so I would add some metallic tones to it as well. For the cloak I would either go with the same red scheme that you did on the first, or I would go with a deep brown to black tone on it. He has the look of death which makes me lean towards the latter suggestion.
