as my project had progressed (well very slowly) for now i've got 40% of my 500 points army
and now i've used the upgraded list (a generous siamese 40k grognards gave me a new IG codex, yes this one!)
it's time for me to show my piece o'work meow~
but first. before seeing the finished army itself. please have a look on an army list.
HQ A> CCS Plasma Pistol
Power Fist
Meltagun
Meltagun
Medipack
now. onto the showcase.
This is Infantry Squad B1, this squad comes with bazooka
This is Infantry Squad B2, having a light AA/AT weapons supported.
that's all for now, the PCS of the platoon B is coming soon....
some of those dudes shown above are restructured from the old list.
Automatically Appended Next Post: ok this was the works that becomes B2 Squad.
^ Basecoated
^ highlighted but not yet paint the round bases...
^ Macro photograph of Autocannon team, the focus is the freehand unit marking. the upgrades are also shown here... gun shields, and digital scope.
Nice formal uniform on the Cadians and well executed.
"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

but painting eyeballs turned out to be ugly for me! Thai grognards are advised against it. sayin' "if you can't do it like 'Eavy Metal' team does, why bother doin' so?"
personally i want to paint all things myself, and not contracting painters for hire (there's at least TWO in Thailand but they're in a different city, if the whole army is not that special, why bother doin' so?)
now i've got a new photoshot, starting a whole new Platoon.
This is Platoon B Command Section.
weapons and gears are all did following those grognards advice (... but he still give me some freedom space to fit something else, the Lascannon PCS A team has is not a part of that piece of advice, purely my feelings, since I need some more firepower to fight Heavy Infantry formations (guess who?) while others are fitted to grill the swarms of weaklings.
whatchu think of this?

At First I was all like " Red And Blue?"...and then i was all like " Yeah! Red and Blue!"
I like it!
Any plans for Tanks, Chimeras or Valkries in the near future?
yep there's an expansion plan for this army.
1. Chimaeras may be included, (just found out that there's Thai SMEs website that sells white plastic materials in a cheap price!!! why buy Tamiya plasticard?)
2. a battery of Self Propelled artillery, either Basilisks or Manticores.... and there will be a terrain set of Firebase for this unit. but in 40k Standard, how many artillery pieces constitute a 'battery'?
3. Valks, or Vendetta helo
4. A team of Sentinels armed with Lascannon. (or a squadron of motorcycle roughriders, Thai grognards are advised against it)
5. 2 squadrons of Leman Russ, (either MBTs, Demolishers, or Executioners. depend on spare points available. but if Vanquisher can fire H.E. rounds just like Russ, i'll take Vanquisher instead =^.^=)
The theme has been altered throughout the backstory development process. Originally those men were a band of bikers drafted to war, now they're based on this video
In addition. there's another souces of inspirations too.
1. Star Wars: Original Trilogy
2. Aliens VS Predator (Computer game, not movie versions)
3. Command & Conquer: Renegade; if you've played that computer game, you'll see that there's one faction having its troops don blood red and chaos black uniforms.
Updated. now i'm working on Platoon B, Infantry Section B1
^ WIP so far. Hershey Nuggets tray is just one of painting instrument and not a part of any scenery, the tray is too narrow to fit a 25mm base. well this is my painting technique. partial assembly and paint, then do final assembly.
just make things easy (or maybe harder??)
Blitza da warboy wrote:Pretty nice army, although you should make a commissar with cat ears
ENCORE:
This is me! i'm looking for a character rule for this.
concept wargear
- Power Sword; Either Rapier or Katana blade
- Power Paws; AKA Power Claws. remember IG Commander from DoW? the weapon works exactly the same but which rule should I use for it? Power fist or Power weapon?
- Bolt pistol; either standard one or 'Space Cowboy magnum revolver'.
- Bolter; if IG commander is supposed to have one. should it comes with polymer stock?
- Carapace Armor; loosely based on 'silvanemesis armor'
this is not a final concept because this character will not appear in 500 pts list. i might redesign it later. ok what do you think about this concept art?
=^.^=

^ Are you refering to 70% lightblue ethanol?
and which of the Citadel Wash do you recommend with? i'm a good client to Citadel paints and washes (well I don't buy the competitor's paint since i've been a student of GW website. the red painting methods of "Redgore basecoating and Blood Red Highlighting" came from that website.. sometimes around 2005)
UPDATED
^ Infantry Section B2. and another blonde sarge =^.^= . well blonde is not popular in tabletop gaming, due to its difficulty to paint. right?
just a few dude and my 1st 500 points IG will be ready!
^
1. many troopers are carryover from the old codex list. by then I have a very few painting skills, not even know how to highlight, and how to drybrush.
also can only do 2-layer paintings by now. and highlighing black is a pure nightmare.
In addition. I have an amateur-grade digital cam. Sony Cybershot (can't remember which model I have?)
2. in the 1st Edition. there was an easter egg referring to Kylie Minogue (But that was the time she was entering a music industry, by then she was one of the NEIGHBOURS casting crew). and you can found it on Silver Skulls backstory... http://wh40k.lexicanum.de/wiki/Silver_Skulls#.TwbOcVbjYTB I assume that the name appeard on the fluff is a location name, possibly an inhabitable planet.
unfortunately.
a. There's no further information regarding to this easter egg in the 40k universe, not even a further details on the campaign. who are the combatants the Silver Skulls were fighting? the same fluff gives much more details on Badab war (SM VS SM), which Silver Skulls got involved, another campaigns GW gave more details are ones they've fought an ork warlord. i've even heard that they went as far as invading the Waaaagh's homeworld. the feat that very few Imperial troops managed to (or at least, dare to). the feat that bought a precious 30 years for the Imperium. the Easter egg might be a part of either one of the two campaigns.
b. GW removed this from the modern fluffs (which becomes more serious)
3. The overall background of this army
3.1 recruitment of local peasants.
3.2 Belongs to the "central government" of the planet. (there's some other regiments that belongs to the local lords)
3.3 the 'red' coat is modelled after Cromwell's army, the 'blue' trousers are a tradition passed on since the founding days. the earliest uniform was a shako, redcoat and blue jeans trousers, the shako and coat are supplied by the quartermaster, the blue jean trousers were originally not what the quartermaster provides, each troops must provide it youself.. much like the 19th century US Army troopers. (i think..)
The earliest service rifle was not even lasgun, but a locally built Autoguns (assault rifles) ones that looks ALOT like AK47
4. The base was made in hurry and I intended it to be a cement/concrete floor. does "concrete slab" base needs sanding?
This message was edited 1 time. Last update was at 2012/01/06 11:30:28
Not too sure about Kylie- but your guards really look smart, Iike the red and blue. What have you done with their bases/whats the plan? cant really make it out.
^ well let Silver Skulls fans answer that 1st edition fluff thing.
about the basing.
Done: painting codex grey. and some units had some few decors done on the base. ones that made of chipped sprue frames.
Plan:
1. an improved version of concrete floor basing. plasticard will be used,
2. asphalt street base. this one might needs sanding. and i need guidelines on citadel paints to be used.
sanding after painting is an oddity for me. and ever since i've used Tamiya plastic cement glue. detaching miniatures to re-work on basing is out of question.
mild grass flocks maybe better. I've saw someone doing Virginian IG using it for basing his troops. but i need tutorials on it.
ok just ETCHING for now. in fact i've applied this etching with the CCS Commander epaulette but by the moment this thread has been posted. the glue (tamiya plastic cement) is not properly dry... yet.
