In the last battle, the Chaos diversionary force was almost annihilated by the Marine and Eldar armies. Now that the main thrust of the Chaos advance has been identified, the allies quickly begin digging in at Hagan’s Way, an ancient city riddled with old tombs, librariums and other repositories of knowledge.

Meanwhile, Baalor the horned and his legions now hold the location of the dread Liber Abominus, within which rests the rites required to free a daemon of terrible power, bound beneath the planet’s surface by the Eldar millennia ago. Should they seize this arcane tome and raise the daemon prince, the whole world could burn.

The stage is set, with much to gain and lose for both sides...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hagan’s Way from the north

The crumbling ruins that mark the entrance to the tomb holding the long forgotten Liber Abominus

The Chaos vanguard arrives, led by the venerable Iron mark

Fallen Dark Angels move forward, supported by the Defiler

Their flank is guarded by the mercurial Death Guard dred

In the centre, a plague champion leads his terminators forward with a second dred

Marine armour appears amongst the bombed out buildings

The whine of engines heralds Imperial airpower moving in for an alpha strike

Marine and Xenos advance side by side

The armies deploy and prepare to engage the enemy

The Imperials seize the initiative and catch the Chaos force off-guard. Fallen Scouts wither under sustained fire form bikers and a Razorback

The alpha strike shoots up the exposed Death Guard termies (lets deploy out in the open – we have first turn, what could possibly go wrong?)

The Eldar War Host pushes forward on the southern flank

The Vendetta opens up on the Defiler

Sigh. Immobilised first turn again...

The Death Guard Dred decides the fallen make better targets than the Edldar and shoots at them instead

The depleted termies head toward the key objective

The flyers take fire but are largely unscathed

With a sizzle of warp energy, Plaguebearers pop into existence next to an allied objective

A Phoenix Lord disembarks from a Falcon and leads his Scorpions towards the Fallen

The marines continue their advance as the Stormraven blasts a few more termies

The surviving Death Guard reach the objective

Reality tears and the great daemon Scabiethrax steps into the material realm.

Mmmm – target rich environment...

Mamon joins the party, and hopes the dred feels like shooting the enemy for a change

Raptors execute a risky jump into woods to get closer to the Vendetta with their melta. Centuries of experience pay off and none are lost

Does my bum look big in these?

Mamon melts a few Scorpions in toxic goo

The Obliterators find range and knock down the Stormraven

Get out and walk shiny boy!

Dire Avengers fight desperately against the plaguebearers, as something much bigger draws closer...

The Scorpions charge into combat with the second deathguard dred, starting a slap-fest that will go on for much of the battle

You hit me you brute!

On the northern flank, marine bikers close in on the Black Legion rhino

Overview of the battle

The Iron Mark trades fire with the Vendetta

A Chaos squad falls back to their objective after taking casualties from Eldar sniper fire

Wraithguard de-bus and shoot Scabiethrax in the back, wounding him.

Mamon is targeted by the Wraithlords

The Fallen claim their objective

Shaken by the Iron mark’s fire, the Vendetta retreats into cover

The entire Wraithguard squad is obliterated by a Defiler shell (hooray!)

The bikers toast the Black legion Rhino, tipping out the squad and Sorcerer

The Iron Mark loses a lascannon to enemy fire

The slap-fight goes on...

A Wraithguard goes toe to toe with Scabiethrax

Sword-envy....

Dire Avengers gain the upper hand against the Plaguebearers

The raptors get close enough to knock the lascannon off the Valk

...and come under fire from the Farseer and his squad

Mamon is cut down by a Wraithlord

The Scorpions finally drag down the dred

Their ride shot down, the Grey Knight termies continue trekking through the ruins

The Iron mark moves into the bike squad's melta range

...and pops the Rhino holding yet more Grey Knights

A random Beast (that we forgot about for several turns as it hid in the woods) charges the Eldar Vipers

The Farseer finds himself out of position as Scabiethrax overruns the Dire Avengers and takes the objective

Burp!

The Plague Champion lurks in the ruins of the main objective as the Salamanders arrive

Librarian Sandius leads his terminator elite

The Fire Drakes move in

The mad Deathguard dred finally decides to shoot the enemy and downs a viper

On the extreme northern flank, a Deathguard rhino smashes into to a loyalist Rhino, tipping out the Sternguard

The Grey knights line up the Sorcerer (the Black legion squad split off and assaulted the bikes)

A blizzard of fire follows...but the gods of chaos protect their own...

The battle rages

The Salamanders move up to the main objective in force

Eldar Rangers continue to harass the Chaos forces with sniper fire

The recently disembarked Sternguard give the Nurgle Rhino melta fire

Burn traitors!

The Scorpions charge into the Fallen...and are cut down!

A squad of very angry Death Guard climb out of their rhino and hose away the Sternguard

The Black Legionnaires finish off the bikers and shoot down a couple of Grey Knights (before getting blown away)

Bloodletters arrive to support Scabiethrax as the Farseer charges in

Khorne Berserkers disembark at the main objective

Baalor the Horned leads his terminator retinue out of the Iron Mark and into the fray

The Iron Mark blasts the Razorback, forcing out Vulcan Hestan and his command squad

The Viper finally finishes off the Beast of Nurgle

The allies pour fire into Scabiethrax, but the great unclean one does not fall

It’s all on at the main objective

Not to mention the allied deployment zone objective...

The Salamander Redeemer moves up to support the assault

As does the command squad

Baalor crashes into the Grey Knights

As the Redeemer fries the Berserkers

The Grey knights take a fearful beating

..with the lone survivor making a 12’ “tactical withdrawal” as Vulcan Hestan counter-attacks

The Plague Champion manages to hold off Sandius from the ruins

Outnumbered and outmatched, the farseer spirits himself away at the last possible moment

In a brutal close combat, the two HQ units tear into each other. Vulcan vs. Baalor

But the marines are driven from the Field, with Vulcan badly wounded. The central objective is held.

Glory to Chaos! The day is theirs!

Victory Chaos!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Phew, close game! Down to the last turn as usual. Scabiethrax was a real handful for the allies, whilst those flyers really gave the Chaos team a hard time. Great to have the two HQs engage in some close combat at the climax of the battle to decide the outcome.

Baalor now holds the Liber Abominus and will no doubt use it as soon as his sorcerers can decipher its arcane lore. Meanwhile, the Marines and Eldar will pull out all the stops to prevent a catastrophe from overtaking the planet.

Next game, the 16,000 point apocalypse grande finale – Daemons will rise, titans will walk.....

AMAZING game. Vulcan v. Baalor at the end was as epic as it gets.

Thank you so much for taking all of those photos. The painting quality on all the models was very very impressive.

PLEASE make sure you document the 16,000 point game.

Slightly confused and more than a little miffed I havent seen and commented on these reps before.

In short, simply stunning mate.

The quality of terrain, models, photos and story is way above par.

Granted its a little hard to follow the tactical/manouvering side of things (which can be great in a rep too) but it dosent matter imho since the overall effect and campaign story is so great.

Keep it up
