The vehicles are a bit too toyish for my taste, but make good wreckage and junk for terrain.

I've been using the terrain for years.

The vehicles, not so much (although I did do up a heavy walker under the VDR for 3rd ed using robogear bits).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Man, I can see some real opportunity there for some IG proxies...I never really liked the GW Sentinal mini's, and some of those Protecterate Walkers would look great with a little bit of work! Thanks for the heads up guys! I really should look around the Interwebz a bit more.....

You could always leave the crazy bits on and just add imperial trim and say it's a detachment from an alternate universe.

I kinda like the looks of the t-rex in place of a predator similar to the predator walker I've seen someone scratchbuild before. It'd be easy enough to swap out the weapons for the proper ones & such I think. I may have to try it for my Iron Warriors in apocalypse.

I dunno, the walkers could work as sentinels, but the land vehicles and jetbikes look way to goofy in my opinion.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

Ah I remember this game! I had a starter set with a buddy of mine. We played it a few times, it was fun game. I wish I still had it but it's been years, the terrain would do nicely and some of the walkers. As for the rest I'm with everyone else when they say wreckage.

Have to say I've been really happy so far with converting them into Ork buggies with twin-linked rokkit launchas. The Ork trukk driver fits perfectly into the seat as well, just don't have any of those bits at the moment to complete this set of buggies.

Well, let me just say that the application of these vehicles is perfect. Almost exactly what I would expect an Ork to concoct.

I'm a fan of the T-rex as well, but the Werewolf isn't too shabby either. And because I'm not that big a fan of any of the model designs of the SM dreadnought, the gears in my mind have begun turning...

We all need to look into the dark side of our nature..
that is where the passion is..the energy..
It is part of who we are...do not fear it ..embrace it
become whole....
we are both darkness and light.....

Here's my thread on what I was doing with Robogear. I was converting them left and right to make them look a bit more Battletechy.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/355685.page

Mostly I was using it for non 40k applications, but the top half of the Varan (saw off the front cab) combined with one piece of sheet styrene and some missiles is a rediculously cheap and good looking conversion kit for making at Medusa or Deathstrike.

If you don't glue in the deck for your Basilisk, you can switch out the bassie and medusa decks at will! I haven't glued on the missiles or missile rails and finished the painting, but you get the idea.

Here's an airplane I assembled from a combination of 2 kits. Might make a good fighta-bomber.

The terrain stuff is good for 40k as it stands; the aircraft, particularly the new one, are good too, better if you replace the Robogear "pilot" (which is a bit bland) with a Sentinel driver.
As for the walkers, I use them as is, or with GW weapons replacing the originals; the GW sentinel looks far too much like an iron chicken to me.
The various tracks and jeep things, just paint them in the same livery as the rest of your Guard army, maybe add a couple of icons, and they fit in ok too.
Ork players, of course, should love Robogear as it's a gift for orky converting.

The skinny soldiers let it down, too tall, too skinny, and not very poseable. These and the "spider" tanks I build to give out to visiting kids who "want to play", the kids invariably break anything they get hold of, so skinnies and spiders are sacrificed to save the good bits.

In some of the smaller sets, Protectorate, IIRC, the soldiers are a bit bulkier with more variety of arms/weapons: these I use as proxy stormtroopers/kasrkins and look ok. The arms/weapons also fit normal GW Guard with only minor fettling needed.

Sorry no pics, waiting for camera to be fixed.

I did a set of three buggies out of the Helix kit that others here have used. Mine were heavily plated to cover up all that weedy, curved front end.
I like the results.

I magnetized the bed of each to accept a turret. I have turrets in the works that have rokkits or skortchas. I'll update when they are finished.
I'm now looking at 3 Varan models that I plan on converting to an additional three buggies of a different configuration.
So, yeah, I think Robogear is a great base for Ork conversions.
