Salutations! I introduced myself awhile back, however, I haven't been incredibly active on the forums. But, to re-introduce myself, I'm Dr. K, and I used to own a game store. When the economy took a tumble, that tied with the location, led to it's downfall. Even though we sold a good chunk of the Warhammer stock in a going out of business sale, there was still a lot left which I bought. This leads me to my painting and modeling blog.
I absolutely love miniatures, and I'm a bit of a collect-a-holic. But, as such, I've become incredibly back-logged with stuff to paint and model appropriately. This, tied with the minis I got from my shop, will be my miniature quest. I want to be able to grow as a modeler and a painter. I want honest feedback that will help me gain more skill. I mean, I don't mind compliments, but, critiques are really helpful.
Do give you all an idea of what is ahead of me, here's some pictures of my collection. It's a little old and some of them have been constructed/painted, but, it'll give you an idea.
Until the next post, happy painting!

I've been working on some Bloodletters as of late, my ultimate goal is two blocks of 40, with fillers, but, for now, I'm going to be running them in 2 blocks of 20, as most games I play are around 1500 points.
I was quite pleased with my test model, so, I'm working on the rest of the group now.
I'm using the standard GW paint scheme, nothing too wild and crazy. Basecoat of Mechrite Red, covered in Red Ink, Delvan Mud wash on the scales/recesses, then highlights of Blood Red and then final highlights of 50:50 Blood Red/Blazing Orange Combo.

One thing you and I have in common right off- we're both going to die long before we paint even 1/3rd of the miniatures we own.
Nice job on the Bloodletter sword.

They look pretty good! Though, I think you should add a little variety to each one, daemons arent know to be uniform.

He does have a point, each one is its own piece of madness given shape and purpose.

Thinking that maybe different eye/tongue/claw colors may be enough variety, or maybe the back fin? I want to keep the red scheme going.

So, I've been using painting as a stress reliever for the past few days, and it's been a lifesaver. These bloodletters have been more therapeutic then anything else. After much thought and some army list testing, I decided to run my Bloodletters in two squads of 15, with my Daemonettes as the huge blocks for support. I do like armor piercing...
Anyways, I've got plenty of new pictures to share.
After getting all my troops to actually line up (Bloodletters are the worst for making a cohesive formation), I got my two groups of 15.
Following the same process as my test model, I got all 30 Bloodletters painted with their Hellblades nearly finished. I apologize for the blurry picture, I was in a rush when I took this pic.
I took a closeup shot of one of em to give a better idea of how they're turning out.
I decided to finish up Group #2 first. Why? Because I wanted to try freehanding a banner. It's definitely not Golden Daemon, but, for a first shot, I'm happy with it. Here it is with the completed group.
A few things I added from my test model were some of the 'blackened' horn parts with the orange/red tips, as well as some small lines of blazing orange in the Hellblades to add some extra detail. I kept my original scheme for the ground, and I think I'm going to keep it at my standard. Calthan brown with a dry brushing of graveyard earth on top of that with bleached bone highlights. For me, it really seems to work. As for my movement tray, that will be worked on once I get my magnets lined up on it with my washers on the base of my minis. I'll be keeping the same ground scheme for that as well.

Well, after much hardwork and painting, my Bloodletters are finally done. Now, I think I'm going to start working on the Daemonettes...
I like my movement trays to look complete with basing added, and I also like them being magnetized. Makes for easier ranking and movement.
For the magnets, I just used one of those magnet strip rolls you can pick up anywhere, then added washers to the bottom of the bases of the Bloodletters (that last bit of that sentence was almost a tongue twister)
and this was the finished product:
Group 1:
Group 2:
