After a amount of time I figured I could just post it, do keep in mind that English is not my native languange so bad spelling will most likly occure, I wellcome all C&C
The Ragnarok system is located in the Ultima Segmentum near the Ghoul stars. It is a harsh system dominated by five large planets, these planets are of the following classification:
Utgard :
Classification : Hive World/ System capital
The systems hive world witch is a almost covered in sprawling hive cities. This has lead to a massive recruitment pool for the local Imperial Guard Regiments. It also have the side effect of providing almost certain urban combat training for the regiments that are raised on the world due to the sheer amount of hive gangs and cults that needs to be rooted out.
Planetary Note : Utgard is known for its massive output of recruits for the local regiments, but it is also home to the dreaded Sturmtroop divisions employed to keep it in line with the wishes of the Governor.
Industry : Small arms and other basic supplies for the Ragnarok regiments.
Hellheim :
Classification : Major forge world
This is the systems forge world, it is one of the most heavily defend planets in the Segmentum but why the need for such massive amounts of defenses is not known by anyone outside the Mechanicus. It has been tasked with the production of the vehicles, heavy weapons and other equipment that needs the massive forges on the world to be produced. It also boasts a very close relationship with the system rulers, witch has helped the current system administration to repel several attacks over the centuries, it also has had a positive influence on the amount of trade passing thru the space ports in the system
Planetary Note : Information Classified* Magos clearance required!
Main industries : Tanks, armour and other large scale manufactorum items
Secondary industries : Classification Alpha
Muspelheim
Classification : Ice world/ Death world
This is the planet all those who dwell in the Ragnarok system dreads to be shipped of to should they break the law. This is a ice world witch is extremely rich in several metals and other key elements to the massive forges om Hellheim and the other worlds in the system. It also have several ancient ruins dotted along its northern polar cap, altho these have been searched several times over by the local Magos of Hellheim.
Planetary Note
Used as prison world, also for its extremely deadly fauna. Most noticeably is the beast known as the Fenrir
Middgard :
Classification : Agricultural world
This is the breadbasket of the system, it is covered in farms, orchards and similar things. Its also home to the Nobility of the system, many of witch serve the regiments witch bears their home systems name. Most distinct among these in recent history is the Field Marskalk Hendric S. Loki witch commands the 12th Army group.
Planetary Note : Agriculture world and therefor tasked with the food production for the system. Nobility is required to serve in his Imperial majesty’s forces
Blenheim :
Classification : Volcanic world
Planet under direct administration of Magos Ustriel* All Information classified
Planetary Note : Annexed by Adeptus Mech in M38
Important figures in the Ragnarok System
Magos Ustriel :
This is the current leader of the Forge World Hellheim. Little is known about him due to his almost obsession with maintaining a veil of secrecy around his world, but it is known that he has a great interest in unconventional science and therefor may wish to keep unwelcome attention at bay.
He also is one of the few men to have close ties with the current leader of the systems General Staff Field Marskalk Hendric S. Loki
Notes : The Magos is rarely seen without his bodyguard of Skitarii soldiers, witch are equipped to handle any situation that may occur. He also appears to have lite in the way of visible augmentations.
Field Marskalk Hendric S. Loki
The man who commands the combined migth of the Ragnarokian regiemnts, this tall and ravaged man commands with absolut migth. He is the choosen leader of the Imperial command for the system, he is known for his absolute lack of respect for anyone who is not of Ragnarokian breeding, or those who shrink away from their dutiews to the immortal emperor. He hails from one of the leading nobel families of the system, but was never intended for the possition he now has. He started out as the youngest son of his family, a unwanted child who where hardly cared for. Yet he survived and joined the Imperial guard, there the young man found his meaning in life.
It would take several years of blodshed and the loss of his two older brothers for him to transform into who is today, it was during a assult on a heretical strongpoint amongts the towering habblocks of Agria Prime that the young man rose to fame. During the inital phase of the assult he and the rest of his regiment was orderd to clear out a section of the massive city. There the nine thousand man strong regiment became trapped as hordes of heretics cut them of, despite their numbers and traing the battle went ill, the regiment was nearly overrun and the regimental commander was slain early in the battle. When all seemed lost a guardsman coverd in blood and with zeal burning in his eyes picked up the regimental standard and rallied his comrads in arms, the day was won at last but at horrific costs. Of nine thousand men only a mere four hundred remained alive when reinforcements reached them. Around the plaza where they had made their last stand the heretics lay in piles.
After this Hendric S. Loki began his journey towards the possition he now has.
Baroness Alexandria Mengzi System governor
The current governor of the system, she is tasked with maintaining Imperial rule and to make sure tithes are payed on time. She is also the first woman to hold this position, she is a tall and stern woman witch has earned her the nickname the Iron Maiden amongst the scribes of her administration. Altho no one would dare to say it near her. Very little is known about her childhood, only that she was delivered to the Schoola witch she attended for eight years before graduating, by a escort of Skiitari and other Adeptus Mech personnel. This has been the base for many rumors, one of these rumors has it that she is the daughter of the current Magos of Hellheim. Al thou this is dismissed as nonsense by most people.....
She also have at her disposal the feared Sturmtroop regiments that are trained in the very Schoola she attended herself.
Over the years she has made good use of these emotionless soldiers to enforce her will amongst the local population.
She is also rumored to be an admirer of the current leader of the General Staff

Nice background - I like the detail and the mysterious hints at Ad Mech goings-on. Loki's obviously got the right stuff!
How do you represent the Sturmtroop regiments in your Guard army?

Well I use the standard GW Cadian shock troops for that, but I apply a different colour scheem to them, I also use DKoK heads since I have a few left over from other projects, I also give them more detail when it comes to transport and such.

Here is the regimental info I have promised my two readers, as always C&C appriciated

* Transmission in progress
Regimental briefing regarding the 134th Ragnarokian regiment:
In the mass of regiment that is yearly drafted in the system of Ragnarok there is one who, since its founding has provided its fair share of glory to the immortal emperor. This is the 135th regiment founded 15 years ago, it has seen more than its share of bloody stale mates, heroic last stands and massive assaults on the various enemies of the Imperium.
But none of these battles is as well known amongst their comrades in arms as the purging of Agria Prime, this is where the until then relatively unbloodied regiment was thrown into a cauldron of blood and violence that would see their numbers drop from nine thousand to a mere four hundred. In addition to loosing most of its men it also lost its senior officers in the two day long battle.
But as luck or some say the emperor wanted it the regiment gained a new commander. The young man who was to one day command all the regiments mustered in his home system became their new leader. His name was Hendric S. Loki
After loosing so many men most regiments would simply be combined with another understrength regiment, but due to the glory and fame they had won they where shipped back to Ragnarok, where they revived reinforcements and gained unlikely patrons.
Upon returning they where greeted as heroes, and where back to full strength in a mater of months, but one thing still remained to be added to the now almost eighteen thousand strong regiment . They lacked armour, and more essential heavy weapons.
But instead of having to make due with passed down equipment and old reserves they revived a full compliment of tanks, brand new heavy weapons and above standard equipment in general.
This was something unheard of, several senior officers and commanders demanded a explanation from the young commander, who in their eyes where noting more than a unwanted child with illusions of grandeur.
But as the storm clouds gathered a messenger arrived on Utgard, he bore the rust red robes of the Adeptus Mechanicus and his companions left noting to the imagination. Flanked by massive Skiitari the priest announced that the 135th regiment of Ragnarok had the support and if need be, the protection of the local forge world and its forces.
This sent ripples of shock and fear amongst the assembled lords and generals, and none dared raise their voices and oppose the priest of the machine cult.
How a man of the mere age of twenty four managed to gain the friendship and backing of a Magos is not know, and those who spend too much time searching for answers tends to find only silence and the glare of men who do not approve of curious minds.

I figured I migth trow some more fluff since I seem to have been bitten by the writhing bug. C&C welcome as always
PDF trooper Samael was running for his life, behind him he could hear the mad cackle of the heretics as they butchered all those who tried to stop them, and those who tried to escape.
He stumbled over piles of broken masonry, and dead bodies. Fear had ereased all thoughts about firing the Lasgun that was slung around shoulders.
Just as he thought himself safe a massive blast hurled the young boy true a window and knocked him unconscious, outside the hive burnt and the warp received fresh souls.
Meanwhile a lone heretic stalked the streets not far away from where the unconscious form of Samael lay, the dreg was dressed in dirty work cloths and grasped a worn auto gun in his hands. He searched for something or someone to kill, or to simply torture. He felt the call of chaos in his veins and carried on his unholy task.
He was soon joined by more of his fellow cult members, they had found blood tracks that lead into a old hab unit, one of them sniffed the air and growled “ By Khorne, it reeks of loyalist piss in ere” and spat on a fallen Aquilia
“Aye, those curs are going to sing for us when we get them” another said with a evil grin on his face. They wanderd true the hab block but found notting but dead bodies and trash, as they poured onto the street bellow one of them saw something in a broken shop window.
“Over ere” he called to his comrades and pointed , in the shattered glass lay the still form of Samael.
Seeing their new found source of entertainment and food they all grinned toothless smiles.
Two of them began to move into the shop, but they never moved after that. A pair of red beams pierced they chests and carved holes in the wall on the far side of the ruined shop. All thoughts about sport was forgotten, the cultists turned to face the new treat that had claimed two of their own.
There where seventy eight of them, and they all spread out and began to move towards the shots had come from. As they began to close in on where the shooter had to hide they felt the bloodlust begin to grow, and several began to chant the name of their dark masters. This proved their undoing however
The first to die was lifted of his feet by a shot that pierced his left eye, and sent his smouldering corps twitching on the ferrocreet pavement.
Then as they say all hell broke loose, a wall of Las gun fire and fire from the mighty auto cannon turret on a chimera opened up. While this was happening more heretics had poured out of the under ground system that lay not far away, as they sprinted across the ruined cityscape a low hum could be heard, followed by a blinding light and a massive blast that rocked the ground, and sent the survivors scurrying for cover, out of the smoke and dust a Leman Russ Battle tank rumbled, followed by soldiers clad in dark long coats and wearing gas masks.
Along the ruined streets of Urisa Prime this scene played out, heretics and loyalists classed in a struggle to the death.
The loyalist forces bore the regimental markings and the gleaming swastika of the 135th Ragnarokian regiment. And no mercy would be shown and none expected either, for they fought for the Emperor and their commander. And none would keep them from victory
Octavian was better at being a heretic than anything else he had ever done before, it all came so natural to him, but he had not expected this. Not in his wildest dreams, all around him the dim of battle could be heard, suddenly the man running next to him howled in pain. From his chest a glowing blade emerged. The dying man slipped to the ground and his killer walked over him.
The man wore a uniform that spoke of a lifetime spent in service of the Emperor of Mankind, and in his eyes there burnt a fire light by zeal and hate to the disloyal.
As he walked away he muttherd " suffer not the traitor to live"

The priesthood of the Adpetus Mechanicus is a organization shrouded in myths and legends, few outside this brotherhood of the machine ever gain their trust, and even fever people can claim to be privy to their friendship. This is one such tale, and how one man rocked the foundations of the system he called home.
Regimental commander Hendric was having what could be described as a nightmare while awake. The young man who had just recently turned twenty four, had suffered the loss of his two older brothers. And he had also been made the commander of his mauled and bloodied regiment.
A shudder past thru his body, and he felt the bile rising in his throat. The memories of that bloody day still haunted his mind at times.
He was awaken from his train of thought when a knock on the door leading into his quarters. He looked up from the mess of papers on his desk. “ Excuse me sir” a private said, “you better come and take a look at this thing” the lad said with a look of dread on his face.
Hendric rose from his seat and followed the white shield trooper thru the myriad of corridors and hallways that lead to onto the surface. When he reached the surface, he saw the burning skyline of the hive city far in the distance, they walked for what seem like a half an hour.
As they trudged thru the ruined landscape he asked the white shield why he was being dragged into the rain that was soaking the land. “ Well the men found it sir, it seems to be tomb of sorts. But its so darned big”. Just then they reached the sight, he felt his pulse jump up a few notches of the sight that greeted them. In what seemed to once have been a underground tomb that had a massive bronze gate barring any future entrance to the complex that undoubtedly lay behind it.
He turned to the same private he had followed to the site. “ Get that tech priest here at once! Take a chimera and bring him here as fast as you can”. The trooper sprinted over to a waiting chimera and the vehicle speed away.
It only took a hour for the priest to reach the site with a heavy escort of servitors and additional troopers for security detail. The tall and heavily augmented priest strode up to the young commander and asked with a neutral voice “ What is your need commander? Have you Vox died again. Or is it something more dire that has occurred” the man he addressed simply pointed to the massive bronze gate, and added “ thought you might be interested in that”.
The priest gazed at the gate and nearly broke into a sprint to reach it, his servitors and assistants followed after with the same level of haste upon them.
Hendric walked after the priest with his bodyguard following close after, he walked up to the priest who was muttering chants and held a massive steel clad book in hand. “ what is it? Is it a prison of sorts or a tomb for some long dead hero”.
As a answer he received a glimpse of the priest augmented face, the expression the man wore told him all he needed to whatever was behind that gate it was something valuable indeed. “ My master is coming here commander. You would do well to inform your men that to speak about this is a reason for death” the priest spoke in a emotionless voice.
As if to drive home this point thunder rumbled in the distance and lighting flashed across the sky.
Several hours passed and the only thing that came was more rain and a bitingly cold wind that howled along the ruined landscape around the site.
Then as night began to fall a falling star appeared in the sky, it soon revealed itself as a massive Thunder hawk. It settled down in a cloud of steam and vapors.
The men of the 135th Ragnarokian regiment looked at the sip with a mixture of dread and awe, it was massive and sported enough weapons to make anyone thin twice about their own mortality.
The ramp began to lower and the passengers disembarked, leading the rust red procession was a tall figure with no visible augmentations unlike his fellow priests that walked in his wake. Altho it was clear that this was the one who they obeyed and served. A scent of incense and metallic oils did creep into the nostrils of Hendric as he watched the procession advance onward where he stood.
“Who commands this host of flesh” their leader spoke in a metallic voice, “ I do my lord” Hendric answered and stepped forwards, he made the sign of the aquiline and saluted the Magos that stood before him.
“Someone clearly know how to greet their masters, I find that a trait generally lacking. Don’t you commander” the Magos said with what could be taken for a slight tone of amusement in his steely voice . To this the man before him replied that it seemed like that indeed at times. After the greetings and introductions was done away with the procession of priests and Imperial guard officers proceeded to the point of interest, when they arrived the Magos simply stood and gazed at the wonder before him. After all these year had he stumbled upon it. Finally the wisdom of the ages would be his to command, and all this due to a officer that clearly had a mind of his own. He dared not to think about the consequences should his rivals find this prize. Yes this man deserved a gift normally reserved for those of far greater positions than him, but they had not given him such gifts either..... This would indeed signal a new age of glory for Hellheim, and for him of course.
He turned to his scribe, and spoke in binary “ Allow these men to leave here alive. Notify the fleet and give them transportation back to Ragnarok. Also begin bringing down the salvaging equipment we need for the task at hand. And make sure the young commander is granted our protection, he is too valuable to be lost to us now” .
This chatter of machine code sounded like a machine speaking to those who stood around, and none knew what had been said between the Magos and his scribe. When dawn broke the following morning the few survivors of the 135th found themselves bound for home, little did they know that this was just the start of their service to the man who now lead them.

I like what you have so far. The background is very unique and well thought out. Keep up the good work! The only complaint I have is that in the first of the short vignettes/stories 78 guardsmen somehow manage to sneak up on the heretics. Unless they were all veteran commando type guys (which is possible) that'd be pretty difficult.
Also, I like the Mechanicum intrigue. You can never trust a guy whose goal in life is to replace his entire body (including his brain) with bionics!

unless the fighting edged closer to a dug in unit waiting to ambush or ordered to observe until given no choice by the proximity of fighting.
Although that doesnt seem to fit the described behavior of the zealot like soldiers with gas masks.
