I'm creating these rules to make Ethereals into a morale officer type character like Chaplains, Priests, and Commissars.

Ethereals are a 0-2 HQ. Ethereals do not take up FoC slots.
Ethereal[100pts]
WS5 BS4 S3 T3 W3 I4 A3 Ld10 Sv4+

Equipment:
Honour Blade - +2S and rending
Hard-Wired Shield Generator - 4++

Special Rules
Independent Character
Inspiring Presence
-In any one phase per player turn, the Ethereal and his unit may reroll shots, close-combat attacks.
-A unit with an attached Ethereal may choose to pass or fail morale tests they are called to take.
-Friendly Tau units within 12", not auxiliary or drones, are also stubborn.

Price of Failure - When an Ethereal is removed as a casualty, all Tau units not locked in combat pass a morale test or fallback. They then gain relentless and Preferred Enemy.

Drop the relentless from when the ethereal dies. apart from that its alright, just dont b surprised if people get all up in arms with you comparing them to chaps n commissars ha.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Just wondering, what's wrong with relentless?
Currently the only units it will affect are, Fire Warriors, Pathfiners, Broadsides, and Sniper Teams.

With the exception of Broadsides, giving relentless to the others doesn't seem too detrimental because:

They're all BS3 so most shots will miss anyways, don't come in large enough numbers to really worry most armies.

And besides, if they killed your Ethereal, most likely in combat, you're probably doing something wrong with your Tau anyways.

Both toying with similar ideas here, though i was hoping to make my version a little less costly and a little more focused on what he can get the squad to do than what he is actually capable of.

Tau and Space Wolves since 5th Edition.
