I was going through some boxes of miniature today and I found a little piece of personal history. Remember the starter painting kit that came with 5 marines and about six paints? They were the first models that i ever painted and against all the odds i still have them and it got me thinking, does anyone else still have the first model(s) they ever painted?

I will be taking a picture of them tommorrow and i will be putting them here for everyone to see in all their paint splotched glory.

Do you still have those first attempts hidden in the back of a drawer somewhere? Care to show the world how far your skills have grown?

Well I started a year ago (about 13 months) so I can't really say I've inproved that much, but I have gained about 500 pts.

Heres a pic from my gallery of my first guys

Yea they're not painted but hay, there still nestalgic. For a comparison, heres a pick from not to long ago of my tanks

The right one I got at the same time as the fire warriors above. The newer tank is finnished now. Then it was only half way threw it new paint job.

Oh man, I'd be too embarassed. My first were my dreaded Black Templars and they were horrible. I just painted paint where I thought it needed to be. Whic was to me everywhere and they ended up a mess. In my defence i was 11 at the time which I am now 13 and have drastically improved in skill.

Then (ie: nine months ago):

now:

And, just for the heck of it my first vehicle:

Alright, I know that I should of posted just orks or just skaven, but I had three good (hopefully...) reasons for not doing so.
1. I dipped all my old ork models
2. That clanrat is legitimately my first model, not just one of my first models.
3. The orks are my most recently painted models.
Savy?
Anyway, my painting might now win any awards but I think I've improved a bit.

Thats an awesome first and latest models skalk.

It's a little bit inspirational really seeing where an awesome painter started out.

My first figures were a pair of RT plastic beakie marines. I painted them silver and gold.

They are loooong gone, it was over 20 years ago.

My first painted posing with my most recently painted:

The BA Sgt. I did when I was 11 or 12. He was probably my second painted figure ever, as the first one was painted without primer and was carried with me from place to place until he got lost. But close enough. The GUO I finished a week back (now 25). Happy to have progressed a little bit, although my basing still needs work...
