Subject: [Carnevale] Some questions

So I am debating whether or not to dip a toe into Carnevale - I had a skim of the rules and they look sound and of course the miniatures are delightful (whether or not I can devote the time and energy to starting yet another game system is another question).
Anyway, I was looking at some scenery options and I was hoping some other Dakka users had some experience in that field - specifically:
Has anyone ordered/got any of the Terraclips Malifaux scenery? Is it any good? Do you think it would pass for 18th century Venice?
If so, are there any decent/reliable UK stockists? I had a quick look at gifts for geeks but it looks like they only carry the connector clips.
If the Malifaux scenery doesn't quite work, has anyone got any suggestions/links to similar modular papercraft type scenery with which to fill a board.
Anyone actually played Carnevale? What were your opinions? What size board do you play on?

Haha I have no idea how I missed this!! What a berk!
Anyways we have double the chance for an answer now
But yes people I would like the same answers as Mr.Filbert please, as me and even the ladyfriend (YES!! I KNOW!!) would like a dabble in this Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and from what I can tell Filbert it's played on a 1m^2 board, the first free scenario has those measurements and the pictures i have found about some event also looked to be roughly that size

Hi,
I will try to answer you doubts. First of all, sorry for my bad English,
About scenery, we used Terrainlinx. Its easy to transport and build but a little annoying to elaborate. see: http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/index.php?view=product&product=29
But there are a lot of other players that are using other kind of stuff. Yo can see in our web: http://vesper-on.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=5&Itemid=10&lang=en or in our forum the players explain their works.
If you want to create your onw scenery, can take a look at this table:
http://vesper-on.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=40%3Aconstruyenco-escenografia&catid=1%3Apost&lang=en
for the board size, we recommend a 30"x30" gaming board for initial games, but you can make it bigger

Many thanks for the replies - the Terrainlinx stuff looks intriguing, kind of like Terraclips but cheaper! Plus some of the displays/examples they have on their website look stunning - I might give that a go for $10 per PDF you can't really go wrong.

The Terraclips aren't just a .pdf though. It's an entire product where everything is printed on decent-quality cardstock. Considering Worldworks Games produces both Terraclips and the Terrainlinx products, the quality of the art in both is pretty much the same.
As for opinions, I'm personally not a fan at all. The clips are a distractingly dark plastic and the pieces don't fit together without gaps. Additionally, you're going to need 1.5 boxes of clips to piece together a single set of Terraclips, so consider that cost. If you choose to glue the pieces together and ignore the clips, you're going to have to deal with awkward gaps where the clips otherwise would be and you're basically dealing with a papercraft set at this point anyway. Your mileage may vary.
I love Malifaux, but the Terraclips are not my thing at all. That being said, the Terraclips for Malifaux are not necessarily Malifaux-only. There is really nothing explicitly GothicHorrorVictorianSteampunk about them. The Streets, Sewers, and Buildings are all rather stock preIndustrialized era crowded city stuff.

To come back to this, I realise the difference between the two systems - I am specifically looking for people who have had experience with the Terrainlinks system rather than Terraclips. With Terraclips, you pay a premium for convenience in that all you need to do is clip the stuff together - it's already printed for you. With the Terrainlinks stuff, you have to print it yourself and paste onto foam core and cut it out yourself. It uses a sort of tab connector rather than clips however so IMO, it looks a little better and there are none of the disadvantages of the clips -all the pieces fit together snugly apparently.
This would mark the first time I have seriously considered using cardstock/papercraft scenery. If all goes well, I plan to get some papercraft buildings for use in the Blackwater Gulch game too.
