I'm trying a conversion on my own and it's just not going well. Can't stand the old heavy destroyer arms as they look like an overgrown pea shooter.

Any ideas?

Bits from the new GW kits?

Third party stuff?

Non 40k model parts?

Please help.

Nothing really fits the mold sadly.

What is it supposed to represent exactly? A Destroyer weapon? If so, one of the new deathmark rifles (doubled up maybe?) might be what you're looking for.

Are they big enough though? The current "destroyer" gun looks quite beefy and imposing. The "heavy destroyer" gun is this long, skinny, flimsy looking thing. I need something that out-beefs the regular destroyer gun while still having a Necron feel to it.

Maybe I could make some kind of Necron rod driven assault cannon looking thing...

Here's what I did. It's a deathmark rifle attached to a normal gauss cannon. The model was already built and painted as a normal destroyer, so working from the start with this idea would propably result in somethig alot better looking.

I like it, unfortunately the figs I have are already heavy destroyers so they have the heavy destroyer guns... otherwise, I'd go with your idea.

How about 1/2 of the twin linked tesla destructor from the annihilation barge? Anyone have an idea as to how big those are? Is a rod supposed to go into the middle of the barrel? (can't tell)

...

Nope, looks way too big now that I found a pic with necrons near-by.

Harumph...

The lightsaber bits from lego are just begging for a Necron conversion.

That BOLS one is a bit OTT.

And it cuts up a tesla destructor from the barge. I would imagine you'd want to keep that for a swap. /shrug

I like the deathmark one a lot better.

Whaddya know... he did use the Tesla Destructor... well, one side of it anyway.

I still might try that, though I think I'll cut it down a bit to bring it to a manageable size...

I second the deathmark one. Tesla destructor makes me think of Fred flinstone and the giant ribs. Just dated myself me thinks.

Problem is I'm not starting with a regular destroyer, but with a heavy destroyer... so I don't have the destroyer gun to use as a base, even though I agree that it makes a much nicer conversion.

Heavy destroyers come with the whole sprue plus metal parts, so unless you bought yours used, you should have the normal gauss cannon somewhere. You could also buy one as bits.

Bought two used, though I do have one NIB. Hmmm... I might be able to scrounge something though in trade.

Thanks all, this has been very helpful!
