Happy Holidays fellow Dakkalites!

This was a Christmas gift for my brother.

His name is Sigurt the Slash on the Scibor website.

C&C are always welcome

Very nice - excellent freehand as well - this is why 54mm is better

Ahh, yet another bit of quality painting gets swept of the page here on Dakka.

Nice work mate, i'm sure your brother will appreciate it
Lovely contrast and colours you got in there, it looks nice and vivid and the freehand keeps the interest up.

If you want crit, then i'd suggest that the transitions are jumpy and lazy in places compared to others, which is quite distracting from the rest of your hard work. It's most notable on the NMM, which given that NMM is one of 'money shots' of the piece it implies (perhaps erroneously) that the rest of the painting is iffier than the pic shows. It's not that it's bad as such of course. (examples would be the transition jumps on the axe)

Oh, and nearly forgot - Merry Christmas to you too! I trust it was well recieved by him?

Thanks for the feedback guys.

@Orki- I feel the same about certain spots on the model. It was a bit of an experiment. I wanted to try the blending technique in which you start with a white basecoat and glaze in the shadows opposed to the dark to light approach. The roughness is due to me not taking enough time in certain areas. That is the joy of painting though, if I feel like something looks good to me I'll leave it be. I had to crunch to get this guy done with some other pieces and he probably suffered a bit.

The gift was well recieved he spent a lot of time just squinting at it and turning the plinth in his hands hah! It was a good feeling to hand painted miniatures to my family members instead of something I bought...hah not that I stole the minis.
