Hey guys and gals I was looking for some help on how to paint and model something like "force" lightning flowing off from a minis hand. I was thinking maybe some wire with a little GS on it... Anyone try this before? I was just looking to make a unique Kroot mini He would be my Shaper, but honestly I could field him as a psyker in really any army since they are mercs.

Thanks!
Ben

P.S. Yes in my mind for fluff it would be kinda like: This is what happens after a lineage of Kroot consumed one to many dead psykers!

Thanks very much! If only he had it painted.... guess you can't have everything! I shall look up some power weapon paint jobs!

From the few examples I've seen of chain lightning effects it rarely looks real or any good at all. Most of the time it just looks like painted wire, not the lightning its supposed to be. But I am always interested to see it work so post some pics of the finished product when yer done!

Yeah I have the wire all put in and what not... It looks ok but I really wish there was a more convincing lightning effect.... I was thinking about maybe trying to paint the mini with source lighting.... Something I have never done before... Any good tutorials out there? And I really would have made this thread under my P/M Blog buuuuuuut since it is labeled Zeon (Gundam) Tau I think no one really looks at it.....

Anyone have any pics with LARGE OSL? All of the ones I have seen have been small with just a little glow. Nothing like lighting from a lightning attack....

Ok for anyone who cares here is my mini! It is my first OSL type paint job so please be gentle! Plus the whole trouble here was the OSL hits his whole body. All the tuts I saw were for little things, not a Kroot with lightening flowing from his hands! This was taken on my puter as our camera bat is dead...

The osl looks nice. Ive never been keen on that wire lightning really tho, maybe just an outstretched hand with a brightly glowing blue palm and some subtle osl would look good?

I thought about that as well, but hey its done and over now. If I make more (what else am I to do with over 80 Kroot ?) then I coud test this out as well. Mainly this was cause I was bored and wanted to try something unique plus i got to try my hand at OSL.

I know its not lightning exactly but this link will take you to some stuff that could be used for psychic effects etc. Some really cool stuff there, I'v never ordered any myself so dont ask for a review or anything, just thought I'd throw it in there as an option if your greenstuff skills are not very good like mine haha.
