Having decided a while ago that the next army that I start I would blog, so once I started my Necron army I decided to go ahead and start the blog.

When starting my Necron army I decided the last thing I wanted to do was to do yet another silver army, but I did want my Necrons to look as if made from metal, shiny metal, very shiny metal. The sort of shiny metal that reflects near enough everything in detail. In other words a chrome effect Necron army.

The inspiration for this actually came from the gallery here at dakkadakka see this:

I thank SpacePanzee for uploading this or I would have never had the idea of doing chrome effect Necron army myself, but I am rather excited about this.

However at the moment I have the sum total of 9 Necrons painted up using my own version of this effect these as you will see below is a Necron Overlord and a squad of 8 immortals.

The army so far:

Those that remember my reaction (probably no one) to the Necron release will remember I wasn't exactly brimming with glee (sarcasm). Safe to say I was more than a little disappointed with quite a few of the new plastic. Pretty much what you see here will form the core of the army the rest of units in the army will most likely involve moderate to substantial conversion once I buy them or they get released.

Note that updates are likely to be sporadic, probably more than a month apart with the speed that I'm currently painting.

Oooh, cool concept. Your guys look really good! Can you post an up close shot of one? Photos are coming across as a little out of focus and I'd love to see your paint effect.

I cant really see that well. Are you doing the horizon method of chrome painting? (painting a horizon WITH blending on EVERY surface)

I ask because I was going to do exactly this a year ago. I wanted to do a James Camerons Terminator army but with Necrons. I found that Necrons have lots of small surfaces so doing horizons on every part was too hard and time consuming.

Anyway, keep at it! and get those minis in focus!

Cool that we are doing these types of armies at the same time! We will have to keep an eye on each others progress. Could certainly do with a few more pics in focus so we can get a good look at your style. Good luck with the project!

Better to sit quietly and look the fool than to open your mouth and confirm the fact!
