Hi guys, just wanted to show you what I'm up to with my latest Marine chapter. This is the starting of the command squad, still got to do the banner bearer!

I have also just got hold of my Veteran Tactical squad at UK Games day and put them together this week! Here are some photos, I haven't attached the guns yet as I want to make a really good job of painting them to enter in Golden Demon next year. Any way feast your eyes on the latest Mk V Heresy Armour from Forge World, I have also got the retro weapons pack for the missile launcher and the Melta gun and the Umbra Ferrox bolters to make them a little bit special. I have to say it is the most expensive tactical squad I have ever bought but they are very nice!!

Like the forge world weapons been thinking of gettin some my self.

What IS that top marine carrying? The jaws of life? A bit of vehicle? Something the techmarine ordered him to without explaining it?

So what are the background story of these guys?

I like the colour scheme. It will look great on those heresy marines.

Well the background for the chapter is that they are a Raven Guard successor chapter, I want them to be really infantry heavy and close combat orientated. I'm making at least two ten man assault squads and I have already got the Vanguard veteran squad. I want to limit the number of vehicles in the army and concentrate on transports like rhinos and drop pods. I like the idea of Land speeders and dreadnoughts too and I wouldn't rule out a Landraider to deliver some terminators. Clearly I have already made up a tactical squad and I'm thinking two ten man squads with transports. I'm converting some special characters from Shrike, Lysander and the new forge world captain Lugft Huron of the astral claws. I've also got the chaplain with a jump pack who will look great and fit right in with the rapid strike ethos!
I imagine them ranging out of a huge fortress ship that can move around the galaxy to where the chapter is needed. They are currently operating in the outer rim in the Ghoul Stars. They recruit there neophytes from several planets further back in coreward within the Ultima Segmentum. I'm working on some more background fluff at the moment and will let you know more as I come up with it!

Lol very funny! It does look a bit like that doesn't it. It is however very like the classic mark VI marines missile launcher from the early days.

I like the armor minus all the studs. They're a bit exessive.

The studs define the pattern of armor (mark V!!!). They are perfect!

I do have an old plasma pistol but I really don't like the design! Anyway not all the chapter/Army are wearing the old armour so new kit is available!

Ok been hard at work and got a few more models in the early stages to post up.
First here are some assault marines some converted to fit in with the Wings theme!





I have also made a razor back to go with a tactical squad I do intend to get the conversion sprue for £12 with the assault cannons.

Well, latest update and there is more to paint! Just assembled and trimmed some Vanguard vets and Sternguard vets and another chaplain! Feast your eyes below.







I've left jump packs off so I can paint the shoulder pads first. I still need to make some more models but I might start to make a dent in the painting soon which is what you'll all be interested in! More pics to come!!

Note there are a couple of rare models in the army so far that I've decided it is time to use, I'll try and make an extra special job of painting them.

Interesting marines! I like the ancient MK armor you have bestowed them with! I also like your color scheme, I would like to see some shots that are more focused and closer to the models though. Nice work!

Should have a new update soon as I've just built the Landraider Redeemer!

Next update, I'm afraid there still isn't any new painting yet but some more juicy models.I'm trying to build everything so that I can get the base red on with my airbrush and it is just easier to do it all at once rather than several batches!

I have given three of them Helmets as I want the majority of the chapter to be helmeted, oh and one was missing when I opened the pack so easy decision!

Now a rare treat a very early model of a pre-heresy marine in Mk III Armour converted to be an assault marine, He is in a bit of a static pose but I hope the novelty negates the need for dynamic posing!


Finally today here is a little something I knocked up to transport the Termies in!!


Well I'm off work for Christmas now so I should be able to really get through most of the building soon and then get on to warming up the air brush and firing some paint at these guys!

Latest update and I've been busy! Nearly built everything I want now, Just got some Land Speeders and some Terminators still to do.

Now I still haven't built the land speeders yet and I've decided to knock up some extra heavy weapons guys so I can have a devastator squad or swap in other heavy weapons guys to the tactical squads, I fear this project is getting a little out of hand! When everything is built and undercoated I'll put up a picture of the entire army and you can all see just how far I've gone overboard!

I really like what youve got going so far. Dont worry about some of the older stuff not having dynamic poses...not every model needs it. Not every model has to be in the middle of some super action. As long as you have variety in the poses your all good.

Next update! Finishing off a few more models,

I've made some heavies to make a devastator squad or swap in other heavies to the tactical squads!
I also had a plasma gun guy hanging around from a previous project so I finished him off with the same idea.



I also finished off making the rest of my black reach tactical squad though alas I've miss placed the rest of the squad and the Terminators from the set, they are either in storage or in the loft! I'll have a look for them later.

Well I'm hoping to start painting in earnest this week as the undercoating is all done, I just couldn't bring myself to make the landspeeders just yet as I'm a bit fed up with building! As you can see the army is now at company strength and it has taken quite a bit of time to make so many infantry!

Well I've fired up the air brush tonight and got through a few models with the base of Scab Red. The compressor has just overheated so while it cools down I thought I would post an update!

Um well.... holy smokes batman! That is a rather sizeable force, I would say that I don't envy you but I think I probably have as much if I got the courage to have a look in my cupboard. Really liking the colour scheme as it goes, a nice change to see a red army that isn't BA.

Genuinely looking forward to seeing this thread progress,one suggestion though is to have this moved to the P&M Blog section.

I realised that it was in the wrong section a while back but I'm fairly new on Dakka Dakka and didn't know how to move the thread to the P&M blog section, if you know how then I would appreciate you showing me how to do it.

No not transfers, free hand painted.

Yes I airbrushed the tank, it takes a bit of practice and I use a proper dual action airbrush not the thing GW put out.
If you are using a brush try thinning your paint more and don't be afraid to do more than one coat to get the right coverage.
