The map rolled was number 12 (urban), Spearhead with Sieze Ground as the mission.

Objective placement.
Objectives were rolled with Orks getting 3 and the Eldar 2.
With going first as the option the Orks setup their objectives as below.

The idea was to use the bunker one as the anchor, it would be very hard for the Eldar to capture that (it was placed inside on level two of the bunker). Their second was placed relatively centrally on the top floor of a ruin where most units could protect it and the third was placed on the ground floor of the Governors palace. The Deffdread would guard this, allowing the Boyz to spread put and pressure the Eldar or hold the other two objs.

The Eldar placed their first obj in the forest on the hill. It would allow them to setup a firebase there with good LoS. The forest also gave cover from shooting and assault and was far enough from the Orks to give a few turns of shooting whilst being close enough to the Ork obj in the ruin for a quick attack.
The second obj was placed at the base of a large ruin on their right flank. A second Guardian squad would setup here to pour fire into the Orks.

Ork Deployment.
Being at home the Orks chose the left hand table edge and setup first.
The Gretchin along with the first Loota squad took up position in the bunker. The second Loota squad placed themselves in a two storey ruin towards the back of the DZ. The Deffdread tucked into the Mansion to protect the obj whilst all three boys squads spread out around the deployment zone with the KillaKans up front.

The basic idea was to hold the 3 home objectives and push the KKs and one Boyz unit into the Eldar forest obj.
Both Deffkoptas reserved. They would make a late game dash for the second Eldar obj to deny them it. With a strong base to work from and 3 objs to 2 the plan seemed solid.

Eldar Deployment.
The Eldar placed their first Guardian squad in the hill forest at obj 1 along with the two Warwalkers, the Dire Avengers, Farseer and the Avatar (wobbly model syndrome meant some were outside the forest border). This was to be their firebase using the Guardian ML and 4 scatter lasers to pour fire into the Orks numbers to thin them. The DAs would advance slightly continuously shooting. The Wraithlords were placed to the left of those units. Their goal was to go after Ork obj 2 in the forward ruin and support the DAs as they advanced. The first WS with Firedragons in it also deployed their, it was to boost first turn and go after the Bunker, destroy it with the FDs and then contest or clear whatever was left at the Bunker obj.

The second Guardian squad deployed at the second Eldar obj with the other WS close by. It was to swing along the back edges of the Ork deployment zone and go after the Mansion obj to contest it.

Ork turn 1.
Ork turn one movement saw the Killa Kans move forward 6” towards the Eldar obj 1. They chose not to run to pot shot a few Eldar targets. One Boyz unit movedinto the ruin at obj 2, another moved into the Mansion with obj 3. The Warboss mob moved up centrally between the two.

With both Deffkoptas reserved no other movement took place.
The Gretchin as seen were actually in the bunker 2nd floor.
All of the Boyz units were out of range so both Loota Squads opened up on the War Walkers. The Orks did not want 4 scatter lasers decimating their troops early on. With average shooting they destroyed 2 SLs and shook the squadron.

The KKs then opened up on the backfield Waveserpent but failed to hit/damage it.

Eldar turn 1.
The Eldar fire base at both objectives held firm rather then move into the Ork hordes too early.
Both Waveserpents then went for their flanking moves. One boosted along the back table edge towards the bunker and Ork obj 1. Both Dreadnoughts moved forward 6” toward the Bunker to pressure it and lay down some fire too.

The other WS moved behind the large temple on the Orks left flank.

The plan was to focus fire down each Ork squad per turn and if not wipe them out, at least severly reduce their combat capability for later in the game.
Both MLs in the Guardian squads along with one Wraithlord and one WW fired on the Ork mob in the forward ruins killing a respectable 9.

The other Wraithlord then fired both its weapons on the Lootas in the bunker but only managed to kill one.

Ork turn 2.
With a lucky roll the first Deffkopta arrived and even more luckily came on at the Eldars left flank near the boosted Waveserpent.

The Boyz in the ruin that had been shot up last turn moved down to the ground level and tucked in, hopefully out of LoS of further Eldar carnage. The two single Killkans again moved forward to pressure the Eldar hill. Seeing the Eldar leave their second obj relatively unguarded the two KKs in a squad moved off towards it. The Warboss mob shuffled forward a bit.

The Bunker Lootas then opened up on the WS near them and under a torrent of fire managed to wreck it despite its sheild and boost save! The FDs did not take any casualties but failed their pinning test.

Their compatriots in the ruins along with the KK squad then fired on the other WS and with some more really incredible luck managed to wreck it too.

Everything else was out of range but two significant threats had been neutralised.

Eldar turn 2.
The loss of the Waveserpents was a truely heavy blow, putting both FD units on foot, out of range and vulnerable, meaning a change of tactics was needed.. Both Wraithlords continued to advance (ran) towards the Bunker, their goal was now to destroy it outright and contest it/clear the Orks from it altogether.

The Avatar moved from the forest hill to intercept the KK squad who were going for obj 2. The Guardian squad would not last long without support.
The non pinned FD squad moved to the base of the temple to also support the Guardians.

Shooting saw both MLs in the Guardians open up on the KK squad, shaking it and destroying one weapon.

With everything else put of range there was little else the Eldar could do.

Ork turn 3.
With another very lucky roll the second Deffkopta arrived from reserve this time on the Eldar right flank. It came on near the dismounted FD squad, ready to shoot/charge them.

The two single KKs continued their advance toward the Eldar lines, also giving the Avatar something to think about. The two in the squad moved toward Eldar obj 2 but couldnt shoot this turn.

The shooting phase saw the Lootas in the ruin target the Guardian squad at obj 2 to soften them up and duely killed 4. They passed their break test however.

The other squad then fired on the Warwalkers again and with similar results blew off another weapon and shook them.

Combat saw the inevitable charge by both however. The Kopta near the bunker FDs killed 3 but took a wound itself and the FDs held.
The other took no wounds but only managed to kill one and the FDs held firm.

Eldar turn 3.
Things simply were not going well. Both WS were down and it looked like both FD squads would be down too, meaning both flanks were empty and vulnerable and no Ork objs under pressure.
Both Wraithlords moved 6” toward the Bunker again, they still had 3 turns to destroy it and their firepower was needed more than running.
The Avatar moved towards the KK squad who were worryingly close to the Guardians at obj 2. Everything else held firm at the firebase again.

Guided the forest Guardians fired on a KK immobilising it.

The other Guardian squad fired at the advancing Kans but missed. Both Wraithlords fired on the Lootas in the Bunker but with poor rolling only killed one (bunker was a 4+ save).
In combat the Avatar charged the KK squad. Taking a wound himself he destroyed one outright and shook the other, combat continued.

The Kopta near the temple killed a single FD but they failed their break test and were cut down.
The other Kopta killed the FDs in combat too and consolidated.

Ork turn 4.
Objectives currently stood at 3-2 for the Orks but the two Wraithlords needed to be stopped as taking out the Bunker was almost a given. As such the Warboss squad ran towards them this turn to setup a charge for next.

The Boyz unit at obj 2 mall moved down to the lower level and forward to get in range of the Guardian squad at Eldar obj 2 and soften them up further.

Both Deffkoptas held their positions, ready to make a last turn contest. With everything else in shooting position or tied up in hth the shooting phase commenced.

The Loota unit in the backfield ruins opened up on the closest WW destorying it in a hail of fire.

The Loota squad in the bunker opened up on the WLs hoping to soften them up but with T8 and 3+ saves no wounds were inflicted. The Boyz at obj 2 fired on the Guardians but with not enough of them in range only killed 1.
In the combat phase the Avatar could only shake the KK he was engaged with.

Eldar turn 4.
At this point the Eldar were going to lose, being 2-3 down with one obj under pressure something needed to be done. As a result the Dire Avengers accompanied by the Farseer and last WW moved from the forest to attack Ork obj 2 in the ruins to pressure/take it. The Guardian squad at obj1 held firm.

The squad at obj 2 moved cautiously backwards trying to avoid the charge of the approaching Killakan next turn.

Both Wls inched forward towards the bunker.
The shooting phase saw them both open up on the Lootas to then them out but with poor rolls and a 4+ save not a single Loota fell.

Both Guardian squads then fired on the KK near obj 2 but failed to do any damage.

In the combat phase again the Avatar failed to finish off the Killakan, rolling poorly on the damage chart.
The Wraithlords had more luck however completely obliterating the bunker. The resulting explosion killed all of the Grots bar two. However they luckily passed both their pinning and break tests. The Lootas suffered one casualty but failed their pinning test.

At this stage it was two objectives each with one contested.

Ork turn 5.
At Eldar obj 2 the Killkan moved further forward but held its ground from a charge this turn. The Deffkopta moved to behind a nearby ruin in support. Their idea was to perform a last minute charge into the Guardian squad there and contest the obj.

The Boyz at obj 2 moved out of the ruin towards the Avatar, gambling on charging him and tying him up for the rest of the game. Obj 2 was essentially safe now except for the Avatar presence.
The other Kopta boosted behind a tree near Eldar obj 1. It was ready for a last turn contest too.

Shooting saw the Lootas again target the Warwalkers and they managed to destroy the last one this turn.

In the combat phase the Warboss mob charged both Wraithlords hoping to destroy them by the end of the game and free up that obj. The WLs however killed 3 Boyz with only one wound taken themselves and the Boyz suffered another unsaved wound from fearless.

The other Boyz mob then charged the Avatar who was still engaged wiht the Killakan. The Avatar finished off the Killkan, taking no wounds himself despite over 30 attacks against him.
The Boyz lost 1 due to fearless.

Eldar turn 5.
With obj 2 now under real pressure it was imperitive that Ork obj 2 was neutralised or captured. To that end the DAs and Farseer moved forward agian towrds it ready for a lst turn charge. At the very least they could pull the Boyz off it.

The Guardians at obj 2 shuffled a bit to get a lock on the Deffkopta and try and kill it and absrob the KK charge.

In the shooting phase the Guardians in the forest shot and destroyed the Kopta near obj 1 meaning it was hopefully safe for the rest of the game. Theother squad wounded but failed to kill the Kopta missing with their ML.

The battle bewteen Wraithlords and Warboss continued with again the Wraithlords winning, albeit taking another wound. 3 more Boyz died due to fearless leaving them with 11 left in the squad total.

The other Boyz mob again lost to the Avatar in combat who took no wounds and their numbers wre further thinned as a result but he was still tied up badly with them.

Final Ork turn.
The Boyz unit that had been cowering (sorry hiding tactically) at obj 2 in the ruins moved to the top floor of them to secure it and await the Eldar final turn.

Both Loota squads shot at the appracohing DA squad trying to break or weaken it and managed to kill a respectable 4 but they passed their test.

The combat with the Avatar saw him reduced to a single wound, the combat being a tie this turn. On the other flank the Warboss who had been rolling appalingly made his mark downing a Wraithlord and reducing the other to a single wound. The contest for that obj was going to come right down to the wire.

At Eldar obj 2 both the Killakan and Kopta charged the Guardian squad. They lost two, however they managed to destroy the Kks combat weapon and passed their break test.

With that the Ork final turn concluded.

At this point it was 2 objs held by the Orks, one by the Eldar with another two contested.
It would come down to the Eldars final turn and some luck.

Eldar final turn.
We cut to the chase here knowing a sngle charge/combat could change the game.
The DAs and Farseer charged the Boyz at obj 2 who had poorly left some of their mob on the ground level enabling the charge. They were pulled off the obj into combat as a result (we placed the models at the front for ease of seeing).

The Avatar with a defiant roar stood strong versus the Ork hordes and survived. However his Kin had to do the same.

At Eldar obj 2 the Guardians fought the Kopta and KK to a standstill, despite taking another wound they held firm meaning that obj was now contested.

However with Ork obj now uncontrolled it was one a piece.
The DAs and Farseer duely obliged in the fierce melee killing 3 Orks, who failed their break test and were cut down. If the Farseer could roll a 6 for consolidation they could hold that obj!

However only a two was rolled.

It was simply down to the Wraithlord to hold out against 11 Orks to contest the obj and earn a draw.
It fought valiantly killing two Orks with its attacks.
However with a gutteral roar that shook the battlefield the Warboss unleashed his brutal strenght against it and the WL fell.

Result.
The Orks held the obj in the Mansion as well as the one at the Bunker. The Eldar held the obj in the hill forest. Their other objective was contested whilst the Ork obj in the ruin was uncontrolled.

The Orks won 2-1.

Ork final thoughts.
Great game, very close in the end. Start of turn 4 everything seemed in the bag with both Eldar flanks destroyed and literally no losses. However the Eldar certainly made a game of it with two very strong squads (WLs and Avatar) causing real worry and trouble.
First half of the game everything really went smoothly, good obj placement, good rolling, good target priority but the second half was much tougher. Dont think any real mistakes were made, perhaps not nuetralising the Farseer/DAs earlier was one, rather then pounding on the WLs who are darn tough anyway. Could have secured obj 2 better to make sure of the win but having several squads still alive late game really helped (KK, Kopta, Boyz, Deffdread).

Eldar final thoughts.
So close and yet so far. First half of the game was a disaster and really altered the battle plan for the worse. However a good recovery in the second half especially the late Farseer/DA charge. Should have secured obj 2 better. One Guardian squad despite surviving a torrent of attacks wasnt enough.
However losing both WS and FDs was really harsh.
Possibly should have targetted the Warboss mob more with the WL shooting and sent one after that mob turn 4 to tie it up leaving one to take the bunker. Was a bit unlucky having the Avatar tied up for so long versus the KKs. Had he been free he could easily have saved obj 2 or taken Ork obj 3.
But a good fight with what was left post turn 3.
