Being completely new to painting and modeling, I thought I'd upload my work so far here in order to get some feedback!
These are my first models so please go easy, constructive criticism appreciated though ^^
I'll update with the rest of the models as time goes on, and hopefully they'll improve

What you have done so far looks really good. In my opinion it could use another colour in there some where. Maybe on the main body somewhere.

What colour do you suggest to compliment the blue? I was thinking the same myself but I'm not too sure howto approach the matter :L

I'd suggest to try painting the eyes... try a bright red colour

Hmmm... perhaps yellow. It might look better - but entirely up to you. Use a 1:1 mix of, say, Golden Yellow and Skull White. Just a dot of colour and a fine brush - that's all!

I really like the Nids! Very well executed. I think if you keep this work up you will have great looking army!

Totally agreed here! maybe as a complimentary colour you could do something weird like Scorpion green... stands out really wel against the black and blue, and when highlighted up to yellow it looks real freaky. Maybe for eyes, glands, stuff like that...

The colour scheme is simple but the paintwork is clean and nice looking! Keep up the excellet work!

Very clean painting!! but tbh with the chitin & claws i would do more of a highlight build up from a darker blue to the light blue.
