Who do you reckon would be the best choices for the main characters if a HH film was made? If it had an absolutely huge budget and was directed by someone like Peter Jackson?

I think that Brad Pitt would make a cool Sanguinius (let's pretend that he would be 'enhanced' with SFX to make him big enough), Sam Worthington would be good as Loken and the guy who plays that evil colonel in Avatar would be good as Erebus or possibly A-bad un.

That's for starters. Anyway, what do you fink then me fellow Dakkites?

Mark Strong would be a great Horus.

Hugo Weaving as Guilliman maybe?

Christopher Lee could be Erebus.

Not really bothered where he fits exactly but Ron Perlman.

He tends to crop up all the time is films about comics/video games/tabletop games, so he might as well be in this one as well

And to be fair, he's pretty good at acting mary-sue, cucumber-cool badasses (I'm thinking hellboy here)

I'd cast a bunch of unknowns tbh.
I wouldnt want the film tainted with the egos, baggage and sometimes very average acting of "da big hollywud stars".

Seriousy, the Rock and Williams in the movie?

Lion El'Johnson: Viggo Mortenson
Fulgrim: Tilda Swinton (yes a woman, for the weird androgynous look she pulls off well i.e. http://i.imgur.com/xLWAx.jpg )
Perturabo: Michael Fassbender (I reckon he could do well as a psychopath technologist)
Jaghatai Khan: Jason Momoa (We've seen in Game of Thrones and Conan he plays a warrior well. Perhaps as Leman Russ instead)
Leman Russ: Russell Crowe (Hey, he can throw into a fury, as we know. But more Maximus than Robin Hood, thanks. If too old and fat, go for Hugh Jackman or Gerard Butler)
Rogal Dorn: Ralph Fiennes (Watch Coriolanus to see how he does as a proud military leader who falls from grace)
Konrad Curze: Cillian Murphy
Sanguinius: Ryan Gosling (Could pull off the pretty-boy reasonably well)
Ferrus Manus: Hugo Weaving (Shame to use someone so good for someone who dies so quickly)
Angron: Tom Hardy (See: Bane in the Dark Knight Rises. Also Warrior)
Roboute Guilliman: Colin Firth (We know Colin Firth does a good regal character. See: King's Speech)
Mortarion: Peter Stormare (Who better to play the Death Lord? See: Constantine)
Magnus the Red: Christoph Waltz (I reckon he could pull off crazy wizard type. See: Inglorious Basterds)
Horus: Gary Oldman (An unbelievably competent actor. See: Tinker Taylor Solider Spy)
Lorgar: Mark Strong (Pretty typecast as villains, but he is good at it. See: Lord Blackwood in Sherlock Holmes for skill in oratory.)
Vulkan: Idris Elba
Corax: Tom Hiddleston (See: Loki in Thor before he turns bad)
Alpharius: Timothy Olyphant (See: Hitman for threatening bald guy)
The Emperor: Anthony Hopkins. (Need someone older and extremely good for this role. Could also be: Liam Neeson)

As an aside, this would be the most expensive film in history, from the cast wages alone!

However, at the end of the day, there's far too much HH material to fit into a film. It would be better suited to a series like Game of Thrones, with unknown but competent actors.

Sorry not to HH hate, but I would get the distinct impression that these would be awful movies... i love 40k and HH but because i understand the medium it's like making a movie about sub-prime-mortgages for teenagers nearly no one targeted and required to make this a good movie could even with oustanding actors without pulling a long trend of things like Marvel did for the Avengers... *Shrug* just my two teef but please keep going

Old Golden-Throne could also be played quite competently by the dude who plays Bilbo Baggins in LotR (and the android in the Original Alien movie)...

Also, probably the agent smith actor from the matrix, he plays cold, unfeeling characters very well, so perhaps he would make a good primarch

Perhaps not, but the characters that don't die can be played by Sean Bean as Sharpe, even if that characterisation is inappropriate.
Really, I just think it would be awesome to watch a bunch of Sean Beans fight another bunch of Sean Beans.
