First of, I've been a away for a long time, so i gotta ask, are most tournaments 2000 points still, or 2500? (I see a lot of 2500 lists so thats why i ask)
I used to play a 2000 khorne list before, that REALLY was bad.. 12 warriors that never did anything.. 5\6 knights that usually did everything.. 1-2 chariots .. did decent.. chaos lord who was.. almost useless.. and so on! I always wanted to make a list like this one.. but never got it down really.. after being away for like.. 5-6 years from the game, i kinda wanted to see what people think of it..
im also not 100% sure if the list is legal.. or so.. and if the points are right, but im 99% sure
so..
Lords: 325
Chaos lord: 325
MoN, Enchanted shield, crown of everlasting conquest, favour of the gods, dispel scroll
Heros: 360
Dragon: 360
Core: 510
5x Marauder Horsemen: 90
throwing axe, light armor, flail
5x Marauder Horsemen: 96
Musi, throwing axe, light armor, flail
5x Marauder Horsemen: 96
Musi, throwing axe, light armor, flail
6x Marauder Horsemen: 114
Musi, throwing axe, light armor, flail
6x Marauder Horsemen: 114
Musi, throwing axe, light armor, flail
Special: 805
5x Chaos knights: 285
Standard, musi, Nurge, Warbanner
5x Chaos knights: 260
Standard, musi, Nurge
5x Chaos knights: 260
Standard, musi, Nurge
Total points: 2000
So the lord obviously goes on the dragon, i read somwhere that the list setup is changed, that 25% can be heroes, 25 lords, 25 rare, 50 special and 25 is minimum for core? is this correct? thats why i got so many marauder horsemen
the point of the list is that, i remember how HARD my 1 unit of chosen knights hit before, and sometimes destroyed total armies (was khorne knights tho).. so yeah, the point is to move the lord safely as possible to the flank of the enemy army, then hit the enemy army hard right on with my knights, flanking with the dragon.. the marauder horsemen are mostly to cover the core need, but they are fine flankers, and harassers! I got REALLY bad magic defense, I KNOW.. but i got a LOT of hitting power to make up for it.. 15 knights, 27 horsemen and lord on dragon with regen, 2+ save, should hopefully save me.. BTW: is the dispel scroll legal on the lord?
I also did consider dropping a unit of knights for dragon ogres with additional handweapon.. I used these before in my old list, and they did wonders, for soaking up dmg and dealing it.. with 3-4 thats a lot of wounds added.. but if would destroy the theme a little..
First of: is the list legal?
second: Is this kind of list stil viable? I know it would totally RAPE most other armies back when i played, but im not so sure of the new rules so?
and yeah.. all critisisme is welcome!

No, the lord cannot take the dispel scroll.
Also, the points of the dragon count against the lord as well, so you cannot take a dragon and that lord at 2000 points. The FAQ explains you ignore the takes a hero slot thing for dragons.
You lord has a 1+ save, 8th edition gives you +1 to armor save for being mounted on anything, included monsters.
Is it viable? Not really. 8th edition has steadfast. If an opponent has more ranks than you, he's stubborn. With no depth, I think you'd see you units get tied up, the fast cav getting killed, and then things finishing off the knights.
Dragon is good, but more like a 3,000 point game choice.

Thanks for a reply but i finally for around at looking in the 8th edition rulebook.. and to be honest, GW has totally ruined this game.. its not a strategy game anymore.. it doesnt take skill to win, or a balanced list.. only thing you need now is luck, and you will automaticlly win games.. which is really poor of them.. warhammer used to be a good game where you had to make judgement calls, you needed experience to get those victories.. but now, charge range of mov + 2d6? getting more power dice on roll of 6? stubborn if more ranks? good job of turning an EPIC good and actually balanced strategy game into total gak in 1 edition! gonna have a look at 40k.. if it resembles the 40k that was around when i stopped playing, i will totally get into that tho.. as it was loads of fun.. like warhammer USED to be

List looks meh out dated.
The game itself isn't bad and didn't it always come down to luck? I mean in other editions did combat go to the best stat line or did spells cast themselves without any draw backs?
Yes there is a lot of luck involved so just turn the odds in your favor.
How ever I do suggest this edition it is quite fun (yes there is cheese as always) if you don't play against some cheesey opponent.

I would suggest that the MSU style you're proposing is more difficult to use that the en vogue big blocks. YOu will need to rely more on redirection and setting up multiple charges to get by.
Maybe replace some of your core with Warriors and use Warhounds for screening/redirecting? You lose some mobility, but gain a bit more survivability. I reckon stick with it, but then I like the idea of MSU!

well i would never even dream of going threw the trouble of making this list after i read the new rules.. this list i know would be REALLY good in the edition i played, but now.. its kind of useless.. and what i ment was, all they did was add more randomness to the game.. yes there was random things in my day of warhammer, but they just added loads of more randomness.. which is lame.. but then again, what they also did was make shooting better, which was good in my day, but maby a little "bad" vs extremly fast armies.. so, I'll see.. i was kinda thinking mainly between tomb kings \ beastmen \ chaos warriors.. but i will take a look at other armies.. always liked woodelfs \ tomb kings and such, but always felt like woofelfs was such a cheesy list.. dont know why
